Ie/firefox/any Program, No Internet At All CMD can ping, however

Recommended Posts

I'm doing some work on a friend's computer and OMG, this thing is so virus infected, I'm actually charging a "Network Threat Risk" fee because I'm putting my own network at risk! Ok, here's the senario:

NO Browser can connect to the Internet. They all time out and whatnot...they can't even access the local network. Like I have a server and my router is Neither will show anything other than the time out message. However, they are accessable in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, the computer can roam the net freely.

Anyone know of any viruses that cause this problem? Thanks!

EDIT: I found an unresolved instance: here's a thread from another forum: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I would run an antivirus and antispyware program like Grisoft AVG and AVG Anti-Spyware to see if they can pick anything up. Both are free for personal use. Before you use them, clear out all your temporary internet folders first.

You can get them two aforementioned programs from:

After those two scans are done, see if you can go online. If you still have issues going online, try using WinsockFix (http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/WinsockFix.zip) to see if it repairs the internet connection issue.
