msabas 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 his idea would be to create a completely hands free cell phone.. The phone will be used and worn just like the new curretn ear pieces.. The design will be very similar but will design sleek looking models.. This phone would need to be completely hands free, with that said.. there would be no keypad of any sort.. there would also be no display screen.. these would have to be sometype of smart phone..Everything would be voice activatedEven to programs your numbers you would say something like new directory. then the phone would promp the questions for you to answer such as name of person, home number, home number..so then do dial you would simply say call john at work or cell, or home.if you are wondering well how will i see who is calling me.. the phone wil automativcally let you know.. saying incoming call from :of the person is programmed to your phone then it would sate something like soincoming call from John Cell numberand to answer you would say end call or something like sobut what do you guys think of something like this. WeaponX 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 Funny your brother should mention this. Yesterday some co-workers at the office actually said the exact same thing. That would be awesome to have a phone like that, but I see one main setback here. That headset/earphone hanging from your ear will most likely not feel comfortable after wearing it for an extremely long period of time.If this "new" phone is made possible in the near future, hopefully it will have a speaker function also. That way it will be really handsfree and you don't need to keep it hanging on your ear for many hours throughout the day (say at home even - ears needs resting ). msabas 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 yeah it would bepretty cool. I for one would also be looking forward to something similar to it.
Omkar™ 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 That's quite a good idea, msabas('s brother, I should say!) . Well, have you guys seen the latest wireless hearing aids? They are about the size of a peanut and go into your ear from the back side! If hard-hearing people can wear those all day and everyday, I bet we could do that too! As for the mic, you could always use a separate collar-mic. We can have bluetooth between them so that there's no wire stuff in wireless cells! And yes, the voice-activated cell software can be nicely incorporated into a microchip and put into the main speaker itself. Now, the only problems we would face are- Where to put the main communicating device? ( did we forget this?!)What about the power or storage batteries? ( Damn!)Also, on the dark(er) side, all we could do on it would be just make (or receive) voice calls, and in this cheesy new technology-addicted world, nobody would want just that! Anyways, those were the pros and cons, now you decide what its really worth!
Pharoah 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2006 Yes, i see to many cons:People walking around talking to air.The thing hurting your ear (you ears can really star to hurt from wearing headphones, like when i would playe Myst III for several hours.)Plus if it malfunctioned, like that exploding dell laptop (or even just overheated a little) it could really cause a problem (although this point is very unlikely). Also, I have personally never found a voice recognition system up to my standards.
webintern 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2006 That is an intriguing idea. With the rising popularity of the Palm Treos though, I wonder whether the lack of a keypad or screen would be an asset. People use their mobile phones for many other purposes, such as playing games, keeping track of information, taking pictures, and more. And for the privacy buffs, would you necessarily want to broadcast to the crowd whom you're calling (when you voice activate your phone to "dial John Delano")?Otherwise, I think it is an interesting concept. Pharoah 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2006 Yes, it is that. There are so many new phones coming out lately. I have even seen ones with fingerprint recognition! Much of it I think is un-necessary. For example, even with old-fashioned cameras families usually end up with way more photos than they'll ever want to look at. With camera phones. people are taking pictures all the time and uploading them to their websites. It's cool, but it's also very stupid when you actually think about it. The camera is just a gimik, like text-messaging was. It actually doesn't make as much sense as it seems like it should (which would you rather do? talk to a person via voice or write cryptic messages like iwill w8 4u @ 930 dwn bi da dox, b there). This is another long-winded opinion, but hey it's the internet. I can say whatever I want
Green Tea 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2006 But isn't the handless phone just sort of like Bluetooth? You have it wirelessly attached to your actual phone, and everything IS voice activated. You can control the volume, call people, pick up the phone, put people on hold. The only thing is though that it has to be within like...30 feet of your phone. I have one and it's great quality. But most of the time, I just use my normal phone. The Bluetooth is just way too small and I feel as if I'm talking to air (as some people suggested above)
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted August 24, 2006 I don't really like the idea, even though it is nice, but when I see people walking and talking to the air they look like idiots But a lot of whom said a lot of downsides of this idea, I could think of even more, but to avoid these problems/downsides I can come up an create a new cell, if I could call it like that.. integrate a mobile to our brain It would have everything, unlimited storage, a camera and etc. I mean we could speak by our thoughts so we don't need to talk to air, we could write sms or send mms with our thoughts too, we could use our eyes to make photos or movies and etc. But I rather use my mobile phone instead. doudou 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2006 I am not sure if an all hands free phone would be practical. First the voice recognition program currently is mediocre at best; you would probably have to repeat your commands several times at a loud voice for it to register. That brings up another problem that what if you want to make a call at a public place, very inconvenient.

[well i tell stories like this while carrying two suitcases].. then when a guy gets interested.. i just tell i am selling it for a buck.. then after he gave me the money i will give him the suitcases and tell the guy to properly charge the batteries.. now.. if this came true.. this piece of science.. i can just adjust a few my old joke.. ---- i still prefer an embeded microchip inside my skull.. and a little reciever antenae or something to that i will just think of my message and i can send it all away.. one thing i fear is the creation of viruses for this embed chips on our skulls.. i dont want to shout.. "OMG! OMG! Please run an AV on my head.. I got trojans inside my head!! " *** keyboard is so sleepy.. punkazoide 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2006 it would not work.... what if u are in a crowded place with a lot of noise??stock market?near a jackhammer?different people have difeerent types of voices... even if u do creat a diverse spectra voice recongnition system it would be impossible to get it right every time...what if u are in a meeting>? u cant send a messge without talking and distrupting the ongoing proceding?what if u want to send a private message? what if ure mother is sitting right infront of u and u want to tell ure girlfrind that u love her....the idea is not very smart as it limits the consumer and user through certain parameters.... Levis 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 Sorry to break your bubble lol, but they already have such a phone. Currently at $15,000 U.S. dollars. It works just as you descrive. Yet its voice detection and learning technology is weak. You have to speak clrearly each time. Its a nice idea but we must remember that people speak differently all the time. sujith 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) Even on high power PCs it dosn't work well.I have tried Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred recently (speech recognition program)..many reviewers said it is great(more than 94% accuracy) but in my experience it was horrible.I can't think about how it can be incorporated into a cell phone which only have limited resources (processor, memmory etc). Levis 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2006 No, a Nokia 3595 has voice recognition so image newer phones. Motorola if i am correct is coming out wiht a 32 mb phone and some are trying to incorporate a 1 gig flash drive. It's possible, just hasn't been attempted. But i am just not sure about getting voice recognition software running. Though my mom's new 2007 Toyota Camry XLE has an onboard voice recognitino system that works with her V3 razer which has bluetooth. So who knows, maybe we will see Nokia or some other brand release it soon. I am changing my opinion from the last post because i just found that feature in my mom's car, when i took it for a nightly spin .
