Houdini 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2006 While not an expert on slots, a PCI slot is still a PCI slot there might be differences in the way the data works from them but they should all work pretty much the same. If you put a card that is 2.1 into a 2.2 it would seemm that it would work being that the 2.2 is a version with more capabilities or attributes. The best thing to do though would be to go to the manufacture and query them about the issue and get a positive answer especially if you are buying it offline. wutske 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2006 As far as I know, PCI slots are completely backward compatible. I never had problems puttting new cards on old motherboards and vice versa, so I wouldn't worry too much about it .
iGuest 3 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 I was pissed off when I found out my computer had no agp slots, since the onboard video was crap, but I got the computer in 2002 I figured it would be decent at the time, but after I found out about the no agp, i went and bought a nvidia geforce fx 5200 w/128 mb for around 110 bucks, it does the job to play games like cs 1.6, nhl 06 and so on, but i want better! and i'm only getting better when i get a new computer , i aint upgrading this
