I haven't had the time to go searching for programming sites, this should come in handy for my classes though. Hopefully as I progress more into the world of programming, I can refer to this site and get some help from it.

mzwebfreak 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I've gotta question: does programming only classify stuff like C, Java, Perl, etc, or does it include, by definition, php, asp, javascript, et al? Just something that's always been on my mind.
Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I dont know if there is a true definition. If there was, it would probably include all that, just because definitions are usually made broad enough to not piss anyone off haha. But in reality alot of people, I think, differentiate between programming, scripting, etc. I could be wrong, but I doubt it, because I'm pretty awesome... Just something that's always been on my mind. Strictly, I think that if the language needs a compiler, it is called programming eg. C, java, Perl...If you don't need compiler but a interpreter (which means you don't have to encode the program to machinecode) it is called scripting. Like php, asp...
