moonwitch1405241479 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 I decided to post this in the Windows section since the error itself is purely windows, it's not the tugzip program, but it IS caused by it.TugZip is the program I use to zip and unzip, but here's my issue.When you select a file in Windows (don't matter where) and rightclick it, you get that lil context menu, where in my case I can select Zip to and a list of suggested compression methods (rar, zip, 7z etc) When I then click on one of those, or basically try to zip a file by using the context menu, my explorer crashes. The error I get Explorer.exe has crashed which is followed by the error saying Dr Watson 32 has crashed as well.Obviously my line of actions is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del since that brings up my taskmanager. So I end the explorer.exe procress, which doesn't stop unless I kill the drwatson32.exe first. Then I restart the explorer.exe.I've tried uninstalling tugzip and reinstalling, but that gives me the exact same issue. My guess is that it is Windows and not Tugzip. If I run Tugzip as program and use the program to select files to compress, it does work fine. So yeah it's windows. Any suggestions or ideas? Other then not using Tugzip (ps for the time being I am using 7zip - the reason to use those is because they allow more compression format than winrar or winzip) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
abhiram 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 This looks pretty wierd. Are you using Windows XP? When did this start happening? Maybe the TugZip.exe file has been corrupted. Did this start after you installed a particular program? Maybe there is some conflict between TugZip and Dr. Watson. Did you try reinstalling the program? Sometimes it helps. I had a problem once with the Windows XP picture viewer. explorer would crash whenever I opened a folder which had the filmstrip view enabled. But I just rebooted and it started working fine again. cyborgxxi 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2005 Wow... this is somethine similar to my experience with the ACDSee. It would take so long to open up a picture through ACDSee and when I would close it, it causes some stupid error that causes me to close explorer.exe or reboot the computer.Well, thank God that I'm using Windows XP now. The previous Windows versions caused so many 'blue screens of death'.But hey, it says uninstall any extension plug-ins. That way, it won't crash your explorer.exe anymore. Trekkie101 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2005 Is it windows XP pro edition by any chance?Also have you loaded in SP2?Ive noticed a few more people reporting this on other sites aswell, but on my XP Home SP2 its working a dream and doesnt cause trouble unless I try .7z which just eats memory and crashed the machine.
