Brian1405241474 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Check it out here! This thing is cool. It has 4 GB of internal storage, enough to make a nice portable music player. It could compete with the iPod especially the iPod photo. It has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the second Palm to have them. While your on the road this could be your computer. Find a Wi-Fi hotspot, check emails, browse the web, create Office-compatible documents, listen to music, watch movies. It's not too expensive, but still pricey. What do you think? chiiyo 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Hmm. I'd actually prefer the Treo 650, or the Treo line, because of the close integration with a phone. That'll be the actual reason I'd buy it, for organising my life and to use as a phone too. I find PDAs as a concept quite useless to me as a person, this is my own opinion at least. My friend has the Treo and it works really well. Makes updating contacts and stuff quite a breeze. (Sorry for the double post... any kind mods want to merge these two posts?) -----posts merged -----szupie I just got this link through one of my RSS feeds... Review of LifeDrive... Read through it, it sounds pretty interesting, if I didn't already have my darling Apple PB, but the whole six-seconds hard-drive freezing thing dones't sound all too promising... Brian1405241474 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 I agree. I like the idea of having a phone/PDA combo. It makes a lot of sense, but since I don't use a cell phone, thats not practical for me. So I'll just have to get the LifeDrive. (I already have a Zire 72, but I wouldn't mind having one of these!)
szupie 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Looks pretty good... What are those computers called, the ones Microsoft makes that's like a big touch screen monitor and can attach to legs to turn into laptops/desktops? Are those kind of like palms too? Do those have BlueTooth?

rjgentry 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 i was reading the cnet review and they mentioned that the HD shuts down a lot to save power and all hte stuff for the apps you have open sticks in the RAM. so it's good if you only have a few lite programs open, but if you get a few too many open, or any time you do something new, it has to spin up the hard disk so you have a six second wait and everything locks til it finishes what it's doing. not that big of a deal i guess, but some people might find that annoying.Ray J Gentry IV
musichere 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 You can get compact laptop notebooks for about that price nowadays, Palms really have to get better to be honest feature wise and price wise or noone will buy them...
rhodesian.dragon 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 It looks nice. and you maybe right about it competing with the iPod but I dunno because I hear that Palms are loosing a lot of market shares to cell phones and to other devices like that. But I dunno this could change all of that if they market it correctly...............
evion 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2005 You know looking at all your posts, it makes me wonder about the idea of having both a phone and palm in you pocket everytime you go out. First of all, having a palm in your pocket strains the weight of your body and it is so obvious that its uncomfortable. Secondly, it is also vulnerable to being a potential victim of pick-pockets, since it is so big and easy to swipe off your pocket. Phones are quite the same actually, except that they weigh less and have less features. (Exception for my mom's phone....it's a non-color phone with no memory card but it was able to hold 678 messages in it and counting...interesting huh?). You carry both plus your wallet and what do you get? bulging pockets. Some of the smart ones might have went to get a palm "bag" so you can sort of clip it onto your belt. But this makes your belt sag -> even worse. What now? Get a palm-phone? Going to have to waste your money on that AGAIN?? TEchnology is advancing at such a speedy rate and nobody has an idea of a PERFECT combination yet.... have they??
