andrwxsCOL 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 I think this is perfect, only think in the things that they will do; just perfect when they launch the program togheter, I think this will be so powerfull, with lot of options, and obviously, with the experience, of Adobe and macromedia that dosen't exist any more. Perfect it so perfect.I expect that the first program has the powerfull of Photoshop, and Macromedia Flash,, just think in that. Wow, amaizing
Grafitti 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 or else it could become a bloated piece of software that runs too slowly to do good on either end. it would be nice if they were able to actually deliver that, though... a real workhorse that give double value. clagnol1405241508 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 Photoshop has been nearing terminal velocity, anyways. Photoshops 7, CS, and CS2 are the same for all practical concerns. Perhaps this merger will bring some new ideas and spice things up a bit on the Adobe side of things. And if Adobe's software becomes bloated and slow, then we still have the old near-perfect versions of Photoshop, Flash, et al, to fall back on.Good? Bad? I have no idea, yet, but I'm not really worried.
evion 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 Adobe and Macromedia has always been in competition. Lately, Adobe has beaten Macromedia by a ton. By now, most of ya'll would know about Macromedia's specialty in animations. Macromedia Flash was a big hit when it went into the market. It was the best of its kind and Adobe has never challenged it with their own fancy designers. Yet they developed new ideas, came up with Adobe Audition and many other fancy programs with a bunch of fancy tools. The merger, in my opinion, will really close-out this competition. But the game is not over, Microsoft, although it specialises in their own OS, is having second thoughts about not joining the competition. Apple too is a great company and has created several graphic design programs. Adobe-Macromedia has now faced their biggest challenge yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they started producing an anti-virus software a few years later.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted August 23, 2005 I too think this will be an awesome idea. It'll be a great addition to the lot of other programs. Hopefully they release like a CS version type bundle, where all the programs are released together to make it easier and cheaper to buy. Most likely it'll range in the 500s as usual, but yeah, I consider buying it with the next Adobe worth it. Be nice if the price fell somehow though
dandare 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 I think we could see one massive web production product come out of this - a combo of Dreamweaver, photoshop, Flash , Fireworks, Freehand, Illustrator etc. Anything to do with making anything for a site would be covered.Dan
iGuest 3 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 I always considered Adobe to be a PDF type company and Macromedia to be the graphics companyI don't thik so - It was Adobe with "Photoshop" and "Premiere" who was (maybe just in germany) the giant of picture and movie-processing companies. Later Macromedia was a (somtimes) good alternative.Just the tool "Flash" was something new ... but Lingo is not my favourite maybe the fusion is a nice way to compare both pro's and earase the con's*greetings*
sickgrrl723 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 this has two sides to it... a good side: the programs will be much much much easier to use together, more available to people to learn the programs, and the cost in the programs will go down due to lack of competition. the bad side is that now that Adobe is becoming so huge, that there is a possibility that it might develop this huge monopoly over the market. that would really suck is microsoft bought out adobe, but then again, its a possibility- they freakin own everything else.... bnbrown 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 It has been already sold. Just take a look at the website's logo. "formerly macromedia"... Things go like that...
moonwitch1405241479 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 Not only has it been sold, packages combining Macromedia products and Adobe prodcuts are already being sold.Check here http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog.htmlAnd for the exclusive bundle for webdesign *drooling here* http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/So Yes, this is old news, but I am glad to see that my initial fear that Adobe would cancel Fireworks and Dreamweaver was unjust. I am extatic to see that both Adobe Creative Suite AND Studio 8 are being sold still and even bundled. Because Fireworks IS an excellent image tool, yet it is different than Photoshop - I feel you can't compare both because their goals are different. And well you can beat me, but Adobe GoLive and Dreamweaver are of different worlds, I swear by dreamweaver Isn't that Web Bundle the wet dream of any designer? And can I at this point stress how much easier it is to get a Student License from Adobe than it is to obtain it from former Macromedia? I checked for myself and I can get Adobe Creative Suite cs2 premium!! for just over 500⏠with a student license, whereas the normal price is 1600⏠- of course they ask for proof that you are a student and your school has to be willing to provide such proof. There is only one restriction - can't recall if it's from Macromedia or Adobe - you can't use the software to create commercial products with it. Though I wonder how they check that?
