kc8yff 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 I have heard rumors that Google might be offering webspace to customers. I haven't read any articles about this. I merely stumbled upon it while reading something. If this rumor is true, what do you think Google will offer if their webspace just happened to be free?I personally think they will eventually expand into this industry. Google has made it's way into Froogle and Gmail. It's likely that they will end up giving out free webspace.Yes, I know, they do offer blogs already!! kc8yff 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 Google is affiliated with Blogger. Blogger is offering free blogs. I don't know what else there is to say about this... you can check out the site: https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&continue=http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/=http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. A while back, Blogger users got Gmail invites. I don't know if they are still doing this.If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them!! firedoor 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 yeah but it would be ad payed, just like everything else on google, but at least the google ads are discreet. the only advantage i can think is that the bandwidth and space allowances will be huge. but you styill get those long annyoing subdomains that geocities and anglefire give out. kc8yff 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 That would suck. Sub-domains suck. What if Google gave out domains with their free webspace? You know how many people would register? It would probably start out like Gmail did -- limited time to register then a few invites. I had something like six invites at first, and now I have 48. If you want a Gmail account, send me an instant message.
Trekkie101 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 Oh google webspace would be great, php, mysql, and all that would be great from google but I would still be here. They really need some sort of community, we all know there nice but why no community.
spacewaste1405241471 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2005 Welll...technicaly you can already get google webspace for free but I'm not sure if you would be able to get it to host your website....The thing with gmail is...You can turn your e-mail account into a virtual webdrive... so like you'd have about a gig of free space where you could store your things
kc8yff 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 That's what I like about Gmail... but you can't host your site through Gmail. You can store crap in your inbox, but you can't host a site.If Google starts a web community forum of some sort, I will be the first one to register.

Google purchase Blogger which was owned by Pyra Labs, a company working on blogging software. It's was a smart desicion Google in view of how hot blogs and blogging are these days. -=Wrighty=- 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2005 I don't think it'll work as it would have to have ads otherwise they couldn't make a profit out of it.It just won't work and it probably won't have as much webspace as here anyway.
firedoor 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2005 it wouldn't be allowed anyway, remember microsofts had a regulatory commison on it's back because they were elimating all other OS's well if google offer 1gb of space (which is likely as they already offer that for gmail so whats thew diffrence to them) then the same thing would happen they would put almost all other webhosts out of buisness. harriko 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 google webspace! that be really good for them it might be able to beat all them popular free webspaces. but i can imagine all their google adsense advertisements on the hosted websites. i find them everywhere i surf now. i never click on them now. most of the times they take me somewhere where im not interested in. the google empire is really increasing and beating msn or microsoft to it.! so if they are going to launch a free webserver is going to be a big change on the internet.
