KyoNiwa 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I don't understand. What makes a search engine good or bad? I use google but people tell me that places like yahoo are terrible. I don't understand. Does it have to do with what comes up in the match results or what?
chronogamer28 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Most of the time, it has to do with user preference. Because I like to image edit for make signatures and avatars, I usually use both Google and Yahoo's image search because I can find different pictures that come up in both and I have a greater selection. But that's just my 2 cents in this.
melanie 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 I use google, and google only. They obviously have the most pages in their database. And also, there are lots of different things you can do to refine your search. Awesome book = Google hacks . (theyre not really hacks though, lol.)
Sundari Harmony 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Interesting, never heard of that before.I use google most of the time, it tends to work the best. I'll use yahoo occasionally, it all just depends. I don't really like MSN's searches that much ..isn't there a search called 'dogpile' or something? ~_^
jun xin wô xin 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2004 I have actually never used google, except to find pictures. I usually stick to yahoo, because I tend to find more info there.
vietpost 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2004 It sounds reasonable b/c yahoo compound many search engines into one, if you are looking in yahoo searching, you are concurrently working with altavista, msn, infospace and yahoo. This sounds more effective but I'd rather use google.com as it has been with me for many years.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted September 21, 2004 The name of this topic is New Search Engine. I think you are all going off-topic now. The newest search engine that is widely on news right now is Microsoft's new bot. The new MSN search engine is still in beta, however. It will be used to compete with Google. If you want to know what's the #1 search engine today, it's Google. Yahoo is the second. You can get all information you want by just using the two of them. For the best online language translator, use world.altavista.com. I always use that.
marijnnn 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 hm, i think google is still nr1new searchengine: a9.comvery promissing, by the guys of amazon.also, i still like copernicus a lot. a whole lot
ouachiski 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2004 I have looked at the new Microsoft search engine. Looks promising but I dont believe that it will be all that google is. That is what Google specialises in and microsoft has a habit of coming out with this great new product and leting it sit on the shelf and rot, never making upgrades and improvements (Internet Explorer).
