Just to add to this list

WinKey = Start Menu

WinKey + Pause/Break = Systems Properties

 

If you spend a lot of time altering hardware, virtual memory, then you'll use this shortcut quite often.

 

WinKey + M = Minimise all windows

WinKey + Shift + M = Undo minimise all windows

CTRL + x = Cut

CTRL + ESC = Start Menu

ALT + TAB = Cycle through running programs

ALT + F4 = Close running program

Hold SHIFT while entering a CD, prevents Autorunning

Hold CTRL when dragging file(s), makes copies of file(s)

SHIFT + DEL = Force Delete, doesn't send to Recycle Bin

F2 (function 2), renaming hilighted programs in Explorer/Desktop

I always use SHIFT+DEL as cut and SHIFT+INS as paste. CTRL Y is sometimes "redo." Also, I've found that if there's something going wrong with the keys (e.g., the buttons don't seem to work), pressing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT sometimes helps.

Actually, different computers have different short-cuts for those functions... Some people have F2 instead of F8, F12 instead of F10, etc...

Alright alright, only one key is pressed, you're totally right. But they're useful to know.

And ALT-Down Arrow-Enter-Enter = New Folder is pretty cool isn't it?
