k_nitin_r 8 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 Hi Cityzen!it's good to have you join us here in the forums. There are a lot of Internet technologies around, from Oracle's/Sun's Java Server Pages to PHP and even Microsoft's Active Server Pages.NET. Then again, there are web crawlers that are not web applications per se, but they download web pages off the Internet so that you can index them and make them searchable with an indexer. There are also Really Simple Syndications news readers, which are desktop or mobile applications that pick up the articles off websites in Extended Markup Language (XML) format. Pretty much every major newspaper website provides content in XML format, including BBC and CNN, so you can actually provide a news reader! Then again, at the networking level, there are routers, firewalls, and proxy servers which again are Internet technologies so there is a vast vast ocean for you to conquer! :-)There are several web hosting plans and even if you subscribe to the basic plan, you will be able to do lots with it. You can host about half a dozen domains with it, use close to a dozen MySQL databases (and PostgreSQL databases too?), and even setup e-mail forwarding so you can get an e-mail address with your domain name in it. It explains why a lot of people stick to Xisto and haven't gone elsewhere in the pursuit of web hosting. Besides, where else do you find web hosting that is completely free? 1 cityzen reacted to this

When I was accountant, I needed consultants to develop some management systems, I could see that most brilliants ones use to be open minded and share easily their knowledge, while the weak ones overprotected it like the philosophal stone. finally I had to do it my self.I'm trying to write some new tutorials, but you know how important is planing to make it easier and write them well and in a regular basis. I'm one week late, but I'll keep my word, one per week, Cityzen,I hope I am not too late Welcome to the forums, it is great that you are liking the vibe and we here are looking forward to your contributions. New trends like social websites, the always rising technologies like Flash and actionScript, the server side management with php, apache and mysql, web marketing, design, semantics, the new web constraints with mobile supports, and also remote management with visual basic, etc... it's huge and exiting to combine all of them, whatever is possible, imagination is the only limit.I'm actually thinking about some small projects that makes life easier when you have strong requirements and use technologies in a very eclectic way (taking the best stuffs of each one). Small projects, but quite a challenge. Thanks again, Velma, for reminding me to sign up in xisto, cheers

Besides, where else do you find web hosting that is completely free?Hi Nitin,No doubt, your support and hosting services are really excellent.I'm also interested in full flash development and make some 'rich internet applications', and of course xml seems essential to do that. Before knowing your existence I tried another web hosting, to test some things like installing a secured connection and share flash presentations in facebook pages, it worked well and I was satisfied in spite of the slowness, until I saw that they added some hidden links to viagras websites in my page, it's scarring to think what else they could be able to do...However, let's say that it was a bad dream, and that I finally found a safe and reliable place to develop nice things in company of great people.Thank you very much, Nitin, for your suggestions, data syndication sounds good. Cheers, see you soon around Edited October 12, 2012 by cityzen (see edit history)
