velma 6 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 Apparently, every Indian PayPal user is having their Pan card verified as there have been reports of fake cards being used. Currently the PayPal card used by xisto corporation is being verified therefore customers will not be able to use PayPal as their payment gateway. We have not been informed of how long the verification process will last therefore clients will have to report their due invoices in advance :)This is to ensure accounts do not get suspended for no fault of theirs. The support ticket should be mailed to sales[at]Xisto - Web Hosting[dot]com with the domain name, invoice id and the paypal email address mentioned in it. Once the verification process is completed, you will be notified in the same ticket. The entire team apologizes for all the trouble caused and hope you understand. mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2011 PAN Card is similar to SSN ID or tax ID in US. Basically every paid transaction in india is supposed to have this number quoted during book keeping and invoice. Indian Government and Paypal is having some issues right now because paypal is not ready to apply for the bank status in india and they don't want to adhere to indian govt policies. Pan card requirement is there since December 2009. I don't know why it was so late warning for xisto. Anyway, the reason paypal is useless for indians is because - paypal can't be used by indians for money transfer within country. e.g. Anwii is from one city in india and i'm in another city in india, in such case payments are bounced. Only outstation payments are allowed. e.g. I'm paying from india to anwii in US. Amount per transaction is limited to 500$/ transaction. Also amount of 10$ or higher is directly withdrawn to local bank account of the paypal user, So keeping money more than 10$ in account is not possible for indian users. Indian users are only allowed to route credit card with paypal for masking. Using paypal balance is not allowed anymore. Like this there are many restrictions going on with paypal. If any indian user setup paypal cart with business or premier account then chances are there recursive payments are likely to trigger something and cause account block. Weird i know but that's what is going on with paypal. This is not only for india but also for german and some other countries where paypal is restricted by respective govt authorities. So my point is shree should get alertpay added to the system for indian users because i doubt if any indian user is going to use paypal for paying the fees for any service in xisto. Anyway, thanks for the announcement.
velma 6 Report post Posted September 20, 2011 Pan card requirement is there since December 2009. I don't know why it was so late warning for xisto.Apparently people who don't own pan cards have been submitting fake numbers which woke up PayPal years after the rule was established. So they've started shooting before asking which is why we received the warning so late. Despite having the correct VALID Pan card, PayPal decided to put the company account under verification.. Bunch of fools.
velma 6 Report post Posted September 21, 2011 from the sound of things, this pan card deal is only affecting indian to indian transfers or purchases. xisto is so big now, i don't know why you guys don't opt for your own merchant account now. paypal in my opinion was always the cheesy way to do business but almost a necessity to start out with since it's the most popular form of payment online. this can also illiminate a lot of the paypal scams and bounced transactions and make things more automatedIt is a merchant's account but rules are rules. Every account irrespective of being merchant or personal is being verified. We are able to send money but not receive it and I am assuming it to last a few more days. Wondering because it would feel awkward to (as you related it to US SSN's) have to supply my SSN before making purchases, =/
velma 6 Report post Posted October 3, 2011 So this number is used for all purchases, like even in the stores? Or just for online such as with Paypal? Wondering because it would feel awkward to (as you related it to US SSN's) have to supply my SSN before making purchases, =/It is called a permanent account number and is used for things related to tax, to avoid tax fraud actually. PayPal in hopes of preventing fraudulent activity decided to have Indian clients submit their PAN CARD Numbers as verification.
