Legal Papers Will Be Required For A .ru Domain Registration

Recommended Posts

Yes , the organisation responsible of the administration of the Russia's .ru domain name , will be requiring legal papers in order to register a .ru domain name , this change will take effect on april 1st.

This decision was taken to cut down on fraud and inappropriate content.so starting April 1st , any person who want to register a .ru domain nme , must provide a copy of his/her passport , or legal registration papers for businesses !till now , the process of .ru domain registration requires no verification , and that helped scammers to take profit and register .ru domains under bogus names.
*Olga Ermakova* the informational projects manager with the Coordination Center for the .ru top-level domain , said in an e-mail interview , that this changes will help Russia align its rules with international best practices ,and will help the "cleanness" of the domain.
She said also that they don't need negative content, and such content is often created by unknown users !

Russia's only the beginning , and i think that it will be a start of the internet domain names cleanness process.

I opened up a fresh new forum only about 2 months ago, and somehow some Russian spammers managed to find it and post porn. It really is awful. I don't know why, but it seems like most of the spammers come from Russia. I do not wish to insult anyone, but this seems to be factual now. Wasn't there a service similar to dot.tk a while ago that would register free russian domain names?

When you identity and privacy is preserved you feel like free to do whatever you think about , this is what's hapening with .ru domains users ,because they don't give their real details , they think that they are untouchables , so they feel free to spam , crack hack ...etc.
But it's times for things to be manages !

Wanna do illegal activities , ok no problem , but do it like a man and don't hide !

Finally! Some common sense performed on endless spammers using RU domain names. I have banned over 8000 commentators coming from either RU area or using RU email addresses. I think the registrars should hold domain registers accountable for misuse and abuse.

You can't blame all the spam on people who hold .ru domain names.People everywhere spam. Perhaps the Russians are just bringingback some of their Communist era paronia by wanting people toregister using passports and such. I don't think that will change thingsanyway. The russians can just register .com or co.uk or any such domainthey choose anyway.

Hi!I agree with networker - we can't really generalize and say that all of the unregistered .ru domain holders are spammers - some of them do actually have legitimate uses for their domains. In terms of email spam, the Nigerian bank account transfer scams seem to outnumber any of the other spam that I get. When the control over top level domains does tighten, it would still be possible for users to get subdomains so it does not really stop anybody from doing what they are already doing. Perhaps the requiremen of registration for a .ru domain is aimed at improving the image of Russia in the international users community rather than doing anything serious enough to prevent spam.@BuffaloHelpDoes it really help to block the list of spammers? I mean do we get repeat-spam from the same email addresses? For the blog-comment spam that I have been getting, I believe the email address field is populated with a randomly generated name and domain because I don't remember seeing the same email address there twice. Perhaps the requirement of having to confirm their email addresses by clicking on a link would reduce the blog command spam because I'm pretty sure that the spammers haven't created each and every one of the email addresses that they provide while spamming.BTW, it is possible to track down the Internet Service Providers of the spammers and to contact them about the abusive behavior - it might help to some extent if the service providers believe that their resources are being utilized excessively and it is detrimental to the services that they provide to other subscribers too.
