That's Microsoft for you. They change things just for the sake of changing them, the real reason being that whensomebody has to 'upgrade' something there are usually all kinds of spin off things that must be upgraded too. Itgets Micro$oft rolling in the money even more. Very inconsiderate and very arrogant.Thank god for Linux. They day will come when I switch to using them.

that is right mra550 for my as a programmer or web developer i used to create web pages in php. but now i had to switch to asp just to find a better job especially in America we can't find a ggod job without having a certification from microsoft, apple or ibm ect. but my personal viewpoint is php is more better than asp for many reasons. it is easier to learn, we don't have to use a specific program to write the code, websites hosting is free for php but asp is not. but one important thing to know about asp is asp pages is more secure than php pages.

IO'm not aware of Microsoft's domain certification but what certification exams are for ASP.NET and C#.NET ? I mean MCAD is for c# or asp.net. And are they completely closing exams for those languages or just version ?

Thanks for the info. I'm into Java so NET is not my domain of expertise. I'm just starting to think about moving to .NET as i have found java a less better solution for most of my work. I'll be keeping tab of those exams. By the way, 70-536 .net framework exam is easy ? I think it covers theoretical part if i'm not wrong. I would like to take this one but not sure if my newbies knowledge in .NET can let me get into exam.

that is right. but they declare a new exams instead which they are

MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications instead of mcad

and mcpd web developper instead of mcsd

the exams numbers as i think are

70-536 .net framework

70-562 asp.net

70-564 mcpd web developper

i believe that these exams are better than the previous, because they are more specific in a certain

language. even that is mean that i am wasting my time of preparing to mcad and it was retired.

that is right i have the same idea, so i moved from php to asp. if you want a book to read before the exam
i will give the the name of the book specialized in exam 70-563
(Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Application Development Foundation)

i also know the basics but i didn't think ever to take the exam if i am not sure that i will pass. so i decided to read the book of each exam before enter it.
about the hyperlink of that book i am sorry i don't remember i downloaded from where?
but if you couldn't find it from the net, just tell me and i will try to find the link
good luck

Hi!I never really started preparing for the Microsoft Certified Application Developer and the Microsoft Certified Systems Developer certification tracks because from the time I first looked at the Microsoft developer certification tracks, they've had a separate certification track for different kinds of developers. The exams have been in place since sometime around 2003 which is when the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework was introduced, along with Visual Studio 2003.The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification is much more focused and you only have to take up the exams that are related to the kind of work that you would actually do while performing in the role. For the Microsoft .NET 4.0 framework, Microsoft would be introducing new certification exams that would make it unnecessary to learn about subjects that are totally irrelevant for developers to use at their work places such as, for example, Windows Services that are just about never used by web developers who work purely with ASP.NET based web forms applications and ASP.NET MVC based applications. If you are planning to take up a Microsoft developer certification, I would suggest that you wait till the introduction of the new Microsoft developer certification tracks for the .NET 4.0 framework.

well, thank you for your reply, seems you are specified in asp, i realized that from your replies in asp.net category. and yes i am planning to take microsoft exam to get certified. although retiring MCAD and MCSD bothered me at the beginning, but after i checked out the new exams i cheered up. as you said before the new exams are more specified and more relative to websites developers. so i chose MCTS and MCPD that fit my skills, at least i don't have to study about "data structure hierarchy" that was required for MCDS.and thank you to inform me about the new microsoft .net framework 4.0, i didn't know they will release it already.

Hi!@web_designerThe new Microsoft .NET 4.0 framework is an entirely new runtime, unlike the Microsoft .NET 3.5 framework which was simply a set of additional libraries and classes around the .NET 2.0 framework. The difference between the capabilities of .NET 3.5 and .NET 2.0 may have been significant but there has never really been a change to the runtime so if you do add in the libraries and classes of .NET 3.5 into a .NET 2.0 application, it would still execute perfectly well. However, since .NET 4.0 is an entirely different runtime, you cannot add the new functionality to an old application, though you could take up some libraries such as the ASP.NET MVC framework which includes the class libraries and the Visual Studio templates for creating the MVC project structure. An FYI here, the MVC project template only enables you to create an MVC Web Application project and not an MVC Web Site project... for those of you who don't really know what the difference is between a web application project and a web site project, it really doesn't make much of a difference from a development perspective since you write almost the exact same code for both types of projects. The data structure hierarchy was not much of a problem for me, but memorizing each of the class methods provided in the different namespaces was a bit too cumbersome for me and I just gave up on it because when a certification is more about memorization than about understanding the concepts, the effort that you put into memorizing the class members doesn't really pay off in practical applications because the Visual Studio integrated development environment prompts you with the autocomplete in either case.I'm really looking forward to the new Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification for the .NET 4.0 framework since it's a fresh new structure that makes so much more sense than the old structure of the certification.
