Being A Real Pop Band

Recommended Posts

Being a popband/rockstar/diva is not as easy as it looks. Talent is not just the factor they are looking for. Being able to write songs is not the only thing that is important. Looking like a star is not the enough.

You may have already heard about the saying "If you're a musician, you're probably poor." Why? because you end up exhausting your funds to keep the music playing.

bigtimedrama is a three-piece Pinoy pop/punk alternative rock band struggling to make the world hear their music. Working hard to share their ideas. Dreaming to make it big in the music industry.

But how? Please help us be heard. Let us discuss the real deal on getting signed as an artist, getting your songs on radio playlists and stuff.

Having been together for years now, we are still a bit confused because what you see and hear about musicdom is not what it seems.

We have a lot of bigtimedrama stories trying to snag our ultimate dream.

It's time to know the real score. Please help us. Share your knowledge on this matter.

Not only that, but think of all the time you invest in music as well.
The way I see it, the only valid reason really to put all effort into music, is quite simply
to do it for the fun of it and have no expectations about getting signed to a record company
or anything.
Record companies sign too few real bands these days. Instead they'll manufacture someone like
Brittney Spears instead. Someone who has no qualms about lip syncing at her concerts.
Record companies only sign what they they think they want people to hear as well.
If you have any real originality, or something unique, this goes against the
grain of what record companies desire.
There can't be any harder or more difficult field to succeed in than the music business.

The way I see it, just play music for the fun of it, and try to have something a little different to offer.
That way maybe you'll stand out and people will notice.

I think being in a pop band is a waste of time because you think you can skip college and it is VERY hard to get signed. There are thousands of bands around the world dying to get signed. Getting your song on a radio playlist can be easy if you have certain friends to get you in because that is the easiest way to get in. My advice....to go to college, get a masters in something that will give you money besides spending money on microphones, get a wife, get 2 kids, and don't spend half the time of your life applying acne creme and screaming into a microphone.

Hello bigtimedrama,First your phrase where you say that if you are a musician you are probably poor is totally true. First of all people don?t love musicians people love artists. The artists are people that expose a singular way to live to the public. I mean is not enough like you say to know to write songs, or interpretate songs, noooo... To be a good artist doesn?t mean that you are "good" singer or actor... Be a good artist is giving to the people a different way to live and the music is the favorite vehicle to make this action... I think that first of all to be a pop band with a lot of success you need money... Yeah that is the true... Everything in this life requires at first money... For example Celine Dion is a great artist with a lot of fans, she was poor, and everybody loves her because being poor in his early life she is today a diva... But she needed the money to make her life a complete success... How? She exposed his talent for some business men that saw on her a posibility to make more money... Yeah this is the true... The interest is the motivation of the world and in the industry of music is full of diferent interestes...You have to try and try and try... please and this is very important dont surrender... Don?t surrender... Because you live for your dreams and without dreams the life have no sense... Please don?t surrender...And yeah... Accept the criticals because sometimes this is the best way to know in what things you are making mistakes... And try to be a better artist all the day....You live for your dream dont forget it...PLEASE DONT FORGET IT!!!Good luck and I hope in the future heard your songs in the top 10...

Of course it's not... furthermore the life of a rockstar is a hard life to live. People think that once they become famous that everything will be smooth sailing from there, but it's not. (Not saying I would know, but if you just watch MTV behind them music, you would know this too.)
