TheDisturbedOne 1 Report post Posted August 23, 2009 I guess I'm going to have to learn some 2.0 design then. Everything in 1.1.10 is hard coded, which makes it easier for me to work on it. In 2.0, everything is scattered in CSS files, and it confuses me. This week I'll dissect some 2.0 themes and see what I come up with. You might have to hire somebody else to make the theme in the end though.
mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Yes. there are many css files with new version of SMF. and that makes it painful sometimes, atleast for newbies who learn by breaking things. yeah, if i can't come up with my own theme modification then i'll have to hire someone to code it for me. TheDisturbedOne 1 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 Need any more assistance with your forum? I coincidentally saw you on TAZ.For you, I'd say upgrade to 2.0 unless you need something that is in 1.1 currently. RC2 will be out in no time (charter members already have it), and the new theme is going to be great.
mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 That sounds good. As i explained earlier in another forum, my need is with forum theme. I did find scribble theme & portal tan theme for myself. But it was hard to find themes working with MODS like :syntaxhighliter, smftags and ad-management mod. Also working with friend on custom mod. It's good to hear that SMF RC new version will be launched. Is it possible to create my own theme with CSS on SMF ? I mean i'm limited with my knowledge of PHP so asked cause of it. I'll do need to your help getting those MODS working. It's just that i'm waiting for two things: smf new release and second custom mod(which is pending since last month). By the way, new SMF RC is so any preview ?
TheDisturbedOne 1 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 The following all run RC2, but none of them have the Curve theme enabled. I tried on all the sites.http://noisen.com/http://bongo.babysimpson.co.uk/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/For the themes, you don't need to know any PHP. The templates are just HTML. PHP codes in with the sources files, which I try to stay away from. Template files are easy to tweek, as long as you know some HTML.
