Phishing ! ! Need help in developing an antiphishing tool . . . . . .

Recommended Posts

As many of you are aware that Phishing is a kind of social engineering attack in which the hacker creates a fake webpage and redirects the user and thereby gets some sensitive data, Now if some one wants to create an antiphishing algorithm or a tool , the first step is that he/she has to practice Phishing , here practice means , he/she has to be perfect in accomplishing Phishing so that an effective antiphishing tool can be developed. Now how to do the same ?All the service providers ( web and mail ) have in their terms and conditions as Phishing is not allowed. But for educational purpose how to use the same ? For example if i had to try Phishing in a free web host provider and suppose their terms and conditions say no to phishing, But still if one wanna try for educational purpose , then what is to be done ? On the other hand, if some one wanna try Phishing scams through mails (eg.gmail) and if the person (antiphishing algorithm/tool developer) gets the permisson of the victim ( to whom the scam mail is sent ) and tries out phishing then is it legal ??

its like saying.. "can i put child porn on my website for education purposes" or "could i put more illegal stuff on my site, for educational purposes"Something like that.If you wanna test phishing, you can run Xampp on your own computer, and test it locally.

Phishing is a threat. If you are doubtful about mails you receive, do not click any of the links in the mail. Find a way to identify Phishing mails.

How do you identify Phishing emails?

There are few things that will help you identify the source of the mail. You should definitely take a look at ?Mailed-by? section, which in many cases help you identify the actual source of the mail.

The above details might not be available directly in the mail. You might have to expand the header of the mail to view this information.

These days, stealing personal information is on the high, and its upto the user to use the internet properly and carefully.
