The theory of internet computing is called Cloud Computing. The idea has been floating about for years.

The reason the theory hasn't become reality is the speed and total bandwidth required would be well over 1000 times that of conventional

connections available in countries such as The United States and Canada. Some northern european countries have some capabilities to

start using this, but its still a few years off at least for them.

Not all that good. To be honest that Operating Online System was the most <INSERT BAD WORDS USED IN POSITIVE WAYS> rubbish. I'll used EyeOS before and It's pretty good in my little demo mode. But to be honest really no "Online OS" is good. May save money and space on your PC but it's very limited when it comes to Online Operating Systems.

That is not an online operating system, That is images, Flash and scripts "Ajax" makes alot of scripts for this like that but dude that is no where near an Online operating system! maybe recheck the link .

This reminds me of GoPC similar type of Online OS program. But iXeta is right. The speed and amount of data we can download is not at the standard that would allow "cloud computing" to become a permanent reality. But the idea is awesome, although the programs I have used aren't entirely User-Friendly.

These services providing an OS in a web browser are fairly complex, and wouldn't run on a portable device. This means that to use them, you'd still need a PC with a working operating system and web browser, which rather defeats the point

Don't fear of large system configurations

I've never had trouble configuring a PC to work, so this isn't really a problem. If anything, setting up an account and all that to use these services online is more troublesome.

Access your OS from anywhere in the globe

Useful, but there are alternatives (pen drives, portable hard drives, etc.). Also, if you can access your data from around the globe over the Internet, so can other people. It would be a massive security concern and only a short matter of time before hackers gained access to everyone's data.

For your small OS. However, if the service is run on a Windows server (rather than a Linux/UNIX server) then you would have the same instability and insecurity that Windows has always had.

Surely it could still crash the browser that you're using? Then you would still lose all the work you were doing in the same way as if a local application had crashed.
