Yahoo Bots And Captcha Is all this worth it?

Recommended Posts

okay for the 1st time in a while I went to Yahoo games to play a few. when I got there I found out that they have installed CAPTCHA to help stop the bots. I found out that it has not stopped them but stopped many people who do go there to play games. ITS A JOKE! I then did something I nenver do, went into chats. it was the same way. Before I could even type in Hi all, I was hit by 7 or 8 Messages asking to go to a porno site! so does CAPTCHA work? No. all it does is slow you down and run people away. this really makes me mad too. yahoo used to be a good place for everyone. now they have changed everything around for the worse. Can not see why Mirosoft wanted to buy them out in the 1st place. nothing but a usless waste of bandwidth if you ask me now.

You can't blame Yahoo! for the bots. You just seem to be acknowledging what Yahoo! acknowledges: that these bots are ruining things for people. The captcha shows that Yahoo! is at least observing their chat rooms, to whatever extent that may be. It's not easy to do away with bots, especially those with humans behind them that are willing to go through the entire registration process just for the bot to get in.

I know. just kinda erks me. yahoo chats did not used to be that bad or yahoo games. used to be a place you did not worry if you had kids and they was there.

I have to agree, although I seldom go to chatrooms anymore, the capatcha is pointless if the bots can get through it and go about their business asking if anyone wants to see their web cams and junk. Of course, with all the money Yahoo is losing I wouldn't be surprise if they have given up supporting the chat rooms and said this is good enough.

One way I have noticed works, is using simple logical or mathematical problems. something like a simple addition problem (as simple as 8+5) is shown (in captcha) or you will have to write something backwards, or substitute all of one letter for another.Because of the vast amount of problems that can be used, and because it envolves reading sentences which can be written in many diiferent ways, it would take a very long time to develop anything which can even get past the prblem 1 time in 1000.Although the problems would be very easy for a person to solve.

I Agree.Yahoo Bots And Captcha

I agree ECHO, however if they would use the Re CAPTCHA found on sites like Facebook.Com, Craigslists.Org or even DatingANDTheCity.Com This type of CAPTCHA cannot be decoded by an OCR software and a human MUST enter in the word verification code.

Now this CAPTCHA did not slow down the spamming on CL, because a whole cottage industry literally popped out of no where when CL decided to go through a whole telephone authentication system, limiting how many times you can post from a particular account. The developers forced buyers to sign up for a montly fee of entering the CAPTCHA word by charging their customers 2 Cents a code.

Now Facebook.Com was able to benefit from it because there are NO USEFUL software out there that can SPAM Facebook.Com, as well as DatingANDTheCity.Com.
