Spyda 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 I opened up a site with Xisto called help.trap17.com It is a site to help with skinning, graphics, and other things in that nature. I do need some help with it, really with people helping out with the graphics portion. Anyway, check it out and tell me what you think....http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
serverph 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 a forum-type support site? i'm not active in Xisto's own graphics forum myself so i can't assist you in this respect.i suppose to gain membership for your forum site, you will need a compelling reason for people to spend their time there, instead of at Xisto's forum. it is somehow redundant for Xisto members to be there, if they can earn hosting credits here instead. there is even a SOTW on your site akin to here. think about it. anyhow, other non-Xisto people may stumble upon your forum and find it useful for them. maybe reformulate the niche for your site, which somehow does not clash with existing (or underdeveloped) Xisto sections, and perhaps you can entice Xisto members to join there. just a thought.anyway, your choice of template and colors for your forum is cool to the eyes. i like it. Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted October 20, 2007 As the most expert person in the world of gfx (well at least on this forum anyways ), your biggest problem is the competition and I can tell you it is very hard unless you provide something that most sites don't. Right now almost everything you can think of is covered, so your best bet is to advertise the heck out of your site and provide original content and what not. Although I don't know if this is official but most new gfx sites last about 3 months before activity dies down, look at all the invisionfree gfx forums most of them are dead before they even started. So I would recommend looking at some of the more popular websites and see what they have to offer and what they don't have to offer. Also your website name is very vauge which means that you could turn this into an advantage and branch into other area's as well to help your site out. Spyda 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 Well I'm not trying to mimic Trap's gfx crew at all. What I am trying to do now (Which I failed to show previously) is provide free custom made skins for IPBFree, invisionfree, and even IPB 2.X. The way that I am different than all the other skinning sites for IPBfree, and so on is my skins are custom made. I've already made one skin for one site, and I'm willing to skin for any site who wants one. I have a skin on there to show what they look like. So hopefully that alone can distinguish me from all the other sites like mine.
