Psychedelic Medicine Alternative to psychiatric difficulties

Recommended Posts

Psychedelic medicine is know no treat psychiatric difficulties like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. In 1943 A. Hoffman created lysergic acid which was the main couse of the 60ties hippie movement. Little people know that from time that medicine was invented until the 1963 when it was banned in US for massive and uncotroled consumption it was used in clinics under supervision of specialists to treat lot's of psychiatric problems like alcoholizm, cigarets addiction, schizophrenia.

Also, shamans, around the world like the ones you know from Mexico use magic shrooms (aka psiloglobin) for subconcious travels. Those supstances are known to have similar effects on human behavior like lysergic acid.

Now it is forbiden to use those supstances, and it's forbiden in good couse. Many teenagers are exposed to use of drugs, and that by all means should be stopped. But nevertheless it should be noted, that some psychiatrists are still voting for use of those supstances in medical treatment for severe cases of schizophrenia, bipolar or similar subconcious problems.

It's a shame that fear of loosing our kids to the missuse of drugs, forbid us to see some possible benefits of using the same in society.

Prety much old link from Wired, that made me write this post, can be found here, and just by further clicking, and reading, it's simple to se how humanity is ignorant in accepting the truth about their egzistance.

It's all in your head.. :P

Respect!

Hmmm.. All the points you have mentioned I have seen them in a documentary, either way nice topic.I too agree that the use of L.S.D should be encouraged for medical purposes but not like the abuse that it was put through in the 1940's. They used to unknowingly put it in their colleagues cups and watch all that happened...Lysergic acid when embraced is said to open your mind to a full 360 degrees.. many people may not like or agree with this point but I too believe that it is good if you are open to it but the more you deny the more it takes you into a negative trip... I read this in a book a long time ago.In a part of the documentary, several psychiatrists were asked if the drug was bad and dangerous. All the psychiatrists either said No or said that it is how the person absorbed it. I think that people who abuse L.S.D are not actually understanding the drug but merely doing it to get high??? That is when it is wrong. One of my cousins friend went into a negative trip because he expected a trip like marijuana or cocaine but got a total mental rather than a physical trip.. In the documentary it was mentioned that the American C.I.A used to unknowingly drug their colleagues, therefore the colleagues did get afraid that it could be abused. They banned it too soon without realizing the positive effects of the drug.I guess people with depression, stress or with mental issues could use it under supervision to help them realize what is bugging them. As for people with split personalities or schizophrenia , i guess it might take a bit more time to use it on them for each person is unique so you cannot actually calculate their reactions.I liked your bottom line "It's all in your head" I think It describes the human so beautifully and simple.I believe that everything is in your head and what you think is what you see. I believe that everything is in the eyes of the beholder and he believes what he thinks. Reading about L.S.D I guess it makes you break away from one thought and makes you think in 10 direction and try to make you understand all the options and views rather than 1.Anyway, rambled enough. Thanks for the nice topic :P :P Hope you submit some more psychological and spiritual topics.P.S:- L.S.D is a very mental drug, as long as a person understands that he is understands that the real world and the trippy world he is in are two different worlds and his understanding of both do not interfere each other, it is safe

Anyway, rambled enough. Thanks for the nice topic :P :P Hope you submit some more psychological and spiritual topics.

i was unsure wheater to post a topic about this subject, and then just few posts below i saw someone talking about lsd, and mentioning dr.Houses episode when he used it to treat migraine...

anyway, dr House is only series i'm lurking for on TV, and i think it's great. It's power is in the brilliant new way of studying human behavior on whole new level. Psychological profiles of characters like House, and his crew are made to be conflicting but again show that line in each one of us which makes us humans.

Anyway i just wanted to comment on last episode i saw, when he got shot, and had complete outer body experience, in which he realized that he's hallucinating, and strugling to stay alive. Also he mentioned ketamine, which is powerfull supstance that i know people used in heavy depressing states, when they had trouble dealing with deaths of their closest.

ketamine is known to produce outer body experiences and so called astral projections, and many people noted that after just few trips they had chance to feel the presence of their lost family, friends, which helped them in accepting their deaths, and getting rid of depression.

as for psychedelic writings, i do that in my free time, on paper and on web, but i'm writing in my native language, couse it's hard to express all those feelings and impressions in foreign language.

thanks for accepting this topic, couse i'm sure many people will misunderstand it's purpuse :P

Like I said before, people are scared of the drug because they have heard how bad and wrong it is, have wrong notions about the drug and had it resulting in a trip they did not like.I too like Dr House but I guess I missed the Lsd episode. Ketamine was used to anesthetize horses thus the strong effects. Also I think it is good that you were brave enough to post this topic, Even I was unsure about people's reactions.Anyway keep it up and I hope you find the words to describe your work in English :P

I think it's debatable really how Lsd could really help bi-polardisease. These experiments were done in the 1950's when mccarhtism and rampant anti-communism wereheavily prevalent. It all seems very irrational as does lsd experiments to basically make people more coherent. Sometimes I think these shrinks just like putting they're fingers intoelectronic circuits to see what happens. We know very little about how the human brain works.
