ghostrider 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I have a presentation due on the 4th of June, which I have made a website for. One of the main things that we get graded on is our appearance (100 points out of the total 150). I think this is perhaps the best template I have ever made, but I would really like to see what other people think of it. I still have to fill in all the information, but how is the coloring and layout? Any feedback would be very appreciated. My Project
sylenzednuke 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Well, it just looks too basic. And when I say too, I certainly mean it here... Didn't really like the color combination. You're making a site on Anatomy I guess? So better not try to use colors which would go with it but to keep it to a basic two-toned scheme, most probably white with some other nice color. 'cause finding colors which would go well with anatomy is kinda like a pain. Try to add some more work to the styling, like rounded corners and even a simpler and better text? A better text would help a lot. Fancy fonts aren't always what you should be going for. It just looks too plain for now. And if you have Flash, then great! Try using that. matak 2 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 You have problems with left side menu. And like sylenzednuke said it looks to basic. Maybe you should try some nicer colors. even basic templates can look nicer. Also try using some doctype, and validate it properly
crazymind21 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 yeah it is a basic template, but for school i think its good, it gives all the info about probably the subject u made it for,!!!next to that, yeah u could work on some detail if u wanne make a personal site, graphical appearance is 70%,of what attracts peoplep.s dude i swear i know u from some where, i used to have a forum calles crazydesign.x10hosting.com. do i know u from there, or maybe way back, from s14,invisionfree, forums,i know ur name and avatar from somewhere ,mmm weird
masugidsk8r 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Hmm... the template is good for school but wouldn't be fit for the general audience. But if you keep practicing and check out professional sites that use HTML and CSS then you'll be on your way to designing good templates. That's what I did and it took me only half a year or less to get the feeling and now I can design like the professionals do--and I'm only still a junior in high school. vondominion 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2007 Dude, if i were you, i would make a new template. it is too basic and it seems to not speak to what you want to talk about. That is my opinion, but if you like it, go with it.
chrisnield 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2007 It looks like one of those websites you would just close without looking at, no offense there of course, we all know you tried. This year I had to design a website for a school project, I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like, to me it wasn't over the top but it looked good, my class mates loved it.The problem with your template is yeh, as others said, is too basic. Usually I prefer basic and clean designs but there is a limit to how basic you can go. Your layout it way too basic, you can see its just three boxed slapped on a page and the colours make it look somewhat even more boring. In my opinion when it comes to presenting something its best to use bright, light and attractive colours but not something too over the top, I also only tend to stick to two colours, usually white/grey and blue and the a sure match.Nice try though, there is always room to improve though and we are here to help, I always find it better to gain feedback from others as they will be the ones using it, not me if you know what I mean.Chris. Tetraca 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2007 The menu does not contrast enough. It uses the deprecated font tag. It also uses a bad font for the menu. What ever happend to good old sans-serif? Try fixing the color scheme too. To make it presentable I'd say go with shades of grey, light blue on white background.
possible123 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2007 I think it's a little too basic and colorful. I think more elements need to be the same color. Add some contrast.Looking at other websites and really trying to make a good design is a good way on how to get a better design.I am not good at eye candy either. My main strength is making text easy to read. However, if this is just a basic presentation for school, I think you only need to worry about changingthe font on the navigation.Just keep these tips in mind for other designs that you may make in the future.
