randomdood 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) just incase for some reason you don't like Xisto...... i use it for test pages so i don't take up unecesary space on trap. it's a good host but i think there having a bit of trouble with the servers (first time it's happened.....) and you can't upload, the admins are ok so they should have it fixed, but it's good as a test host <<< removed link >>>instant activation, 300mb of space (even though the cpanel says 350), 30gb of bandwidth, 1 database (mysql) 1 ftp account. Notice from jlhaslip: Removed link and reference to link.It isn't polite to reference competitive services here. Notice from BuffaloHELP: After the direction of this topic, topic title modified. CrazyRob 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 whats the point if you only have 1 SQLDB and 1FTP account a lot of people now use multiple databases.

CrazyRob 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 ok far enough but why not just download your own webservr and test it on your pc, it would save having to go and upload files all the time. but i see your point. Me personally i wsould not chose them ive looked on their site and there is somthing about them i do not trust.
the_aggie10 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 if you are wanting to test your pages why take up space on someones server? just open it in your internet browser....doesnt even require internet connection.

Sharn 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 if you are wanting to test your pages why take up space on someones server? just open it in your internet browser....doesnt even require internet connection. That works great for normal HTML designing and all, but when you get to dynamic pages, like PHP, it doesn't work at all. That's why you do a quick search for XAMPP and host it yourself. Then you have complete control over it all, it's faster, and theres no uploading times whatsoever. Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 My question is why go through all the hassle by joining our competition when you can test it on your trap account and still have the same results? Also why would anyone not like Xisto, most of what we offer you don't see anywhere else and we do it better. I feel as though your trying to turn people away from our services.
Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I could maybe deal with 1 FTP account but I would need more than one database. I think Xisto is the best there with that especially with the no ad. I usually just use XAMPP for my testing, it's a lot easier and I don't have to remember any passwords. I use it for testing for my Trap Site and just upload it straight onto the computer. I could maybe see it if the people don't have time to post and are making a rather small site or maybe use it as file hosting but that's about it.
randomdood 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 i was mainly thinking if you were tight for space with your trap account then maybe you can have some files like maybe your forum there so it wouldn't take up so much space. also i don't really see why the link was removed, i was just trying to help out some trap members with a host for some of there files, also with your databses you can always use prefixes anyway... midnitesun 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2006 i am suprised that you go through all that pain of uploading files and checking it on the internet thus wasting a lot of time and energy which you could have used for developing your pages when you can do it all on your computer even without an internet connection , in case you happened to be not aware of the fact , most probably the windows version you are using will have microsoft internet information server ,which will be there by default on xp ,windows server 2000 and 2003, all you need to do is open IIS and add your site , and type localhost on the IE address bar , there you are now running your site and you can perform what ever check you want and when you are done just upload the files using a ftp client to your Xisto account or which ever server you are using . BuffaloHelp 24 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 IIS is available with Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000.I am running closed Internet server with Apache and PHP (to test out my codes offline and upload when I know it's working properly). I have the option to use SQL offline as well, if I install it. So there are many ways to achieve offline script testing without noticing any difference.
