New Yahoo! Mail Beta

Recommended Posts

Yahoo! Mail is offering a new mail in an interface similar to that of GMail. It looks like an EMail Client and allows Drag and Drop. The interface loads quickly and is sleek. But Yahoo could have done away with those ads in the page. This service is in Beta so more features are yet to come.

This service is available only for the Members of Yahoo in UK, Ireland, Germany and France.

I'd say it looks more like Outlook Express than it goes GMail. The GMail layout is however better than both the Windows Live Email and Yahoo Mail Beta simply because of it's "simplicity". I haven't much to say about the Windows Live Beta, because it still has a lot more to add to, but the Yahoo Mail Beta is too clogged and too many options at the same time do not contribute to a better interface, and an interface is of prime importance. Just how I think it to be. I hope they make things better with the final release.

I agree also it does look more like outlook express, but so far how is it running, are there many bugs , and also why would yahoo not run a beta of it in the States?

I am agree with garbage & LParyani, the theme of Yahoo Mail Beta is not similar to Gmail themes, But it looks alike an Outlook theme.I love Gmail features, which so much powerfull and make it easy to do any work within no time........................these similar features (most of them) you can find on another 2GB Email service called http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It's old version is not so good, but it's Beta Mail version is similar to Gmail.Have a look at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Its awful. Ive been struggling with it for about 3 weeks now.Its incredibly slow to open, well its incredibly slow to do anything. There is no way to select multiple mails, & when you link that with a spam filter that simply does not work it makes using it a nightmare. You also have to endure a multitude of adverts on every page view. One click slightly off target sees you being directed to some crap website or other. Gmail is infinately better in every single way, as is the new Window Live Mail (replacement for Hotmail). Ive been using Live Mail for about a week & its pretty good so far - not quite as good as gmail but not far off.

That is a major setback. Although I don't use Yahoo, but if they still want to stay in competition, they have to fix that in the final version, which I probably think they will. They might be recieving emails about that already. <_<

The new Mail world is getting complicated and more complicated every time a new competitor enters the arena.I was using Yahoo for 4 years, then suddenly i received a Gmail invite from a friend, i used Gmail and I loved it. It was simple, not that of a slow loading, and most of all it offered POP3. I also loved the space they provided, their severs were fast so i upload all my files to my Gmail account and kinda use it as a File Server <_< .Then i was invited by Live, i got the Windows Live Messenger Beta, i liked it, then the Windows Live Mail. God this is the worst Email client i met, well it is Microsoft so what do you except. Then i changed my mind it was still in Beta, so i decided to wait before i made my mind up on it. And after a while they changed everything, it was working more properly. But still it was very very slow, even with broadband. Overall Live was complicated. Now Yahoo, by looking at it it looks simple, but the adds get to me. I don't really like them mainly the ones on Yahoo. Why don't they do what Gmail is doing, but text related adds or something, instead of butting the massive sized flash files onto it and wasting our bandwidth.Even when Yahoo releases the final version, and Microsoft releases the final Live, i will stick with Gmail. It is just that Gmail is simple, very simple that is what gets to me.Note: Yahoo should include some of its 360 features in their Mail System, and they should have options to change back to their classic view. And should give POP3 access for free.

Yahoo also has a new Myspace-style service out.It seems like Yahoo's still trying to grab a foothold on the internet world, but it's being overshadowed by companies like Google.

There is an option provided on the top to switchback to the Old Version.
