FirefoxRocks 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2006 About Internet Radio:If you are willing to broadcast Internet Radio, get a radio license and broadcast in your local area too if there is a lot of population.Anyways, I like listening to Internet Radio. I recommend http://ww4.q104fm.ca/ and clicking on Listen Live Now!
trace-uk 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2006 podcasts are alos like a short internet radio clip. the only trouble with DIY radio is that you don't have people broadcasting all day so listeners have to tune in at a specific time, which alot of them will forget to do.Also, don't go broadcasting sings/mp3s on the air without paying for them you're bound to get into trouble if you have alot of listeners.good luck man! berakd 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Come one guys, the quality can be high with a low compression. I for example have 56K modem dial up connection... And I have found about a 10 radio stations who give AAC radio instead of mp3. A difference you should try to hear! AAC sounds like a 128K mp3!

humanisfilth 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 OK. First, please make sure you have ALL your music ripped to your HD. I have a mega, gigantor, external drive that lives only for that purpose.Second, go visit Shoutcast and Winamp! They are the KINGS of self-made internet radio. Obtain the software they provide for FREE and you'll be up and running in no time.More specifically, follow these steps:1. Go here: Winamp Player and get the latest and greatest player. Using Winamp, you will be both playing your music AND streaming it over the internet using the shoutcast local server software.2. Go here: Shoutcast Server and get the local server software for shoutcast. After you install it (fast and easy), you need to configure it so it works with Winamp. The instructions on this URL should get you started....but you may need more hand holding.3. Go here: Winamp/Shoutcast DSP and get the Winamp plugin that "ties together" Winamp and the Shoutcast server. This URL should also have enough instructions to get you started, but again, you may need some additional info.I had my radio station set up and broadcasting in about 12 minutes...it really is that easy. After the nuts and bolts are in place, you can start messing around with all the features and get your favorite personal web page involved and get links up on various web sites so folks can just click and start listening.Anyway - there you go, there it is....GO FORTH AND MAKE GOOD RADIO! If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask.Interesting...Internet radio must be making some kind of resurgance...anyway...lookie here! Someone already wrote a GREAT tutorial for you right here on the forums!Internet Radio Tutorial

Yes, true. You will need copyright licenses, what I say is if you don't have the money, make your own songs up!You will need a microphone though.Really,It's not that hard,A three year old could do it.
