iGuest 3 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 Uploading on your HDD is what is known as downloading. The chances of being caught are slim but they still happen. When you download I believe RapidShare doesn't keep a log of IP's downloading the file, but if you upload copyrighted files to RapidShare, that is when you're more likely to get caught, seeing as you are now supplying it to potentially millions of people. This would be the reason why they care more about catching the uploaders rather than the downloaders. But who knows.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 17, 2010 Replying to iGuestit is not the same if you were to give a book to a friend. It would be closer if you made 1,000,000s of copys and gave them away to people that you didn't even know for free. Artists spend time making whatever they made. Then people download there works for free. If everything could be got for free then movie/book/music/ect... Companys would go out of bisness and we would never get any new movies/books/music/ect...HOWEVERI beleive that if something is impossable to get threw any other means and the person has tried them all (try to buy in story/ contacting company/ ect...) then it is the company's falt if someone downloads from a sight like rapidshare, as it is there falt that they could not provide the object that could be downloaded withing an hour.
