Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 I am not sure which type of forum you are talking about. If you mean a forum that you can download that has no ads on it you can get PHPBB at https://www.phpbb.com/ If you have hosting you can get the free verion of Invision Power Board off of your control panel as well as a couple others. If you mean register with a forum that doesn't have hads that you can chat on and not own or run there are many. My forum does not have ads and the same goes for other personal sites. Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 (edited) I get what you are saying now. At first I thought you were talking about a forum for your own host that is free with and doesn't have ads. Then I thought you wanted to join a forum like Xisto but one that doesn't have ads. For free forum hosting go to http://www.forumer.com/ They host your forum for free I am not sure about the ads but I don't think there are any. The only ads are google ads to help support them Notice from mayank: Edited as reported. Edited December 11, 2005 by mayank (see edit history)
rvalkass 5 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 Evalve offers free phpBB forums with no ads. They're supported by donations from members. Free to sign up and instant activation.I've never used the service, but it has good reviews.Evalve.orgThey also have a very nice walk-through style help guide to setting up your forum here.Unfortunately you cannot get mods, add-ons or themes installed, but its the same for most free services. serverph 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 why look further? are you not going to get your hosting from Xisto.com? you should get hosted here, since you're already a member! with that said, you can then just install a forum of choice via cpanel on your Xisto hosting space, and just remain active in the Xisto forums to maintain your hosting credits so your hosting doesn't get suspended. and aside from forums, you can have vast control over what other features you want in your hosting: like chatrooms, blogs, galleries, etc. Xisto offers you that, with no ads attached to your hosting. good luck! Thanks. 212426[/snapback] it should take a while for DNS propagation to access your Xisto hosting using your own domain (assuming of course you correctly pointed your domain to Xisto servers). but you can access your hosting cpanel via IP address in the meantime. check out admin BuffaloHelp's reply to your hosting problem again:http://forums.xisto.com/topic/31129-hosting-on-trap-problem-support/= if you're still having problems accessing your cpanel via IP, make it known to Xisto admins/mods again via your original post above. .hack//GU 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2005 I have my forum at http://www.forumer.com/. In the past, this forumer is based on IPB and it's very good. But... something happened and now it's based on PHPBB... don't know why. Why I don't like the change? Well, basically the two is very good. But PHPBB that is allowed in forumer is so limited. Too many limiters and it making me don't feel so great, assuming the past using of IPB is far greater.Well, IPB is better, but if you want to make a good PHPBB you may need to create your own PHPBB. Just set it up if you like...or if you like simple things to do, just use forumer.. it's kinda a good one.
