About Me just an intro on myself

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone and anyone reading thisI'm new here so I hope that all yer older members who are aquainted with this forum can help me out.I would like to start out with my interestI take a huge interest in music, song writting and composition. As for instruments I play, I play the guitar (pop) the piano (pop and classical) and I sing too (pop and classical)...In fact, I'm currently preparing my church's youth choir for carolling and would be glad to share, give advice, exchange tips or just help anyone interested in that field.I'm currently researching on traditional Indian music as part of my school project and would greatly appreciate if anyone could offer some help whatsoever. In particular, my reserach is about the "rhythmic improvisations on the Tabla". If anyone has good audio files to reccomend please do reccomend them to me.Lastly, I have quite a few questions regarding how this forum works. If you know the answer, feel free to PM me, that would be greatly appreciated.1. How does accumulating forum points work. I know there are a lot of post trying to describe it. However, I find the term quality and keep posting a little vague, so I would appreciate if someone would care to clarify thanks.2. How many members does this forum have. This is important cos I would like to post a lot of specialised stuff about music that can help and guide people or also learn from them. However, some serious discussions would be I need the right target audience to make it relevant. Or else I can also tune my posts, to suit the less hardcore researchers / academist / musicians

Good to have you onboard liauce. The answers are simple. You gain points based on the size and quality of the post or reply. If your post is about the same stuff as the title and description, you get more points. So it is a good idea to not get off the subject. Also, remember to try not to attract attention to your post by writing a title and description that don't fit with the content of the post. You will be warned if you do that. After you have hosting, your "points" will turn into days. Each time you post, depending on the quality of the post, you will gain so many points, or better known as days. You lose 1 day after each day. The points do go down. So if you had 6.52 days left, you could come back in 15 min and find it at 6.51.The forums here have about 5500 members. Is that right mods? Anyway, if you need any help, members and mods will try to help you. You will find many people anyway and all of them diverse, so you should find people willing to discuss your topic.I hope I could be of some help and if I am leaving something out, members and mods, add it to the replies. Happy posting liauce!

Omgz you're practically my twin. Also, on top of Wild20's description, 24 hours equals one credit. So it divides a bit slowly, which is probably easier on you, and it divides momentarily. Not sure if it's exactly 15 minutes, because I'm too lazy to time the change, but it's a short amount of time nonetheless.

Welcome aboard! Interesting to hear that you're researching Indian music. When I was in university, I did a double major in English literature and Music history for my bachelors degree. Anyway, I think you'll enjoy the community here as the people are friendly and very supportive. So have fun, post as much as you like and if you have a website ready, post it here in the Trap 17 showcase threads.See you on the boards!
