Can I Put This Type Of Link In My Page?

Recommended Posts

I believe you can host ROM's on your site as long as they are legal, however you can (I believe, though not sure) post a link to any file you want providing it isn't hosted on Xisto, and don't metion it in the forms.

You can host any ROMS that are NOT commercial, and education purposes only. What I mean is you can NOT host ROMS of Nintendo games Xbox, ps2 etc., but you can make your own little game (Dooga-Game2000) and game reader (The Dooga Reader) and distribute it and ONLY if you label clearly that you have created the game yourself, it is in the public domain, and that you are allowed to distribute it etc. No "Visual Boy Advanced" or "Project64" , unless you are the creater, and intended these Rom Readers to NOT read Commercial Games. In other words, the Roms can not be a copy of a commercial game, and has to have it's own reader that is not illegal. In EVEN SHORTER WORDS: Keep it Legal. Thanks!

Exactly what Dooga said. :P If you're talking about those Commercial ROMS like say, for example, a commercial Zelda ROM, you're not allowed to do that. Since that's commercial stuff, and distributing it would be illegal. If you know something that's illegal, don't even think of hosting it here, because Xisto will never allow such files to be hosted. Unless, of course, if you made it yourself, or it's public domain.Slight off-topic:I believe IPS patches for translations are allowed, though, as those aren't commercial, and made by the ROM hacker/translator. Like, an English translation for a Japanese game, of course, those aren't even ROMS. :P

ROMs are copies of games, "translated" from cartridges to the computer. You can find arcade ROMs, SNES ROMS, or from almost any console you can imagine.Usually copies of CD and DVD games are not called ROMs, but ISOsThis is a serious issue, keep them away from Xisto. You should not be allowed even to link to the roms. It's like creating a page with <img src="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;. You are not hosting the image on Xisto but simply linking to it is against the ToS. I am not admin here but this is my opinion.Although IPS patches are not copyrigthed stuff they are used to facilitate the use of copyrighted stuff, so people hosting IPS files may also be sued. Don't be selfish, remember that other users are also hosted here, so if Xisto is sued, all of us will lose our hosting.
