sxyloverboy 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 I dont have a lot of experience with this but if your looking for a blog type thing theres a website called https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&continue=http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/='>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/=http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ that offers free blogs and its fully customizable. If you have a host you can give them some ftp details and they put the pages on your server and if you dont have a host they host it for you. Once you get your hosting account you will have this thing in the Cpanel called Fantastico and it installs all of those CMS things for you. here is a list of what they have for you to install. DrupalGeeklogMambo Open SourcePHP-NukephpWCMSphpWebSitePost-NukeSiteframeTypo3Xoops and thats only the Content managment systems. they also have pictures sites, forums(phpBB ect.) and more stuff. well thats just to give you a taste of what you get when you get hosted. Avalon 1 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 I agree with wassie here, if it's a pre-made site you're after PHP-Nuke is probably the best free one out there. Because so many people use it there are a huge amount of skins available that can give your site a unique look, well as unique as you can get with PHP-Nuke.While a Content Management Script (CMS) like PHP-Nuke is a good place to start, I'd recommend learning PHP for yourself so you can give your site it's own individual look and feel. Do a search with any search engine for 'php tutorial' and will find there are many sites out there to help you learn. Once you have made your own PHP enabled site, you'll never go back to a CMS again. If you'd rather not search for tutorials, try these sites for a start:http://www.w3schools.com/default.asphttp://www.phpfreaks.com/http://www.free2code.net/tutorials/browseGood luck! OCAC 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 although I have not used phpnuke, I am using Mambo, on one of my websites. It is very good, and there is a reasonable number of additional modules and components. SO I wold give it the thumbs up, you can slao integrate php, and it is fairly flexible, so if you have some experience in html and css and php it will help, but is not necessary!!! OCAC 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 one addition, it really depends what you want to do. Blogging? Wordxpress, drupal, CMS, Mambo or postnuke.have a look on their respective forums and you can see the activity of their communities. Mambo is undergoing a huge change in the moment, so if you have a little bit of tim to make your decision, give it a while, since they have to sort themselves out first. jpx3m 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) give typo3 a shot... it let's you import your own website design (HTML and CSS) and you just indicate where the dynamic content should be placed on your layout... plus like all other CMS there are lots of extensions ready for you to use... squeetox 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2007 For me, Mambo, because I find PHP-Nuke rather insecure and heavy on MySQL queries (Mambo does query very much too, but not that much I think).
