Help With An Ad-aware

Try Spybot S&D. If there's an ad you can't get rid of at the moment, it'll start when you reboot, when the ad isn't active, and it'll remove it. I haven't had a problem with it, and it helped me a lot! I recommend you get it. Now I'm ADware-free! Oh, and I forgot to mention that it's FREEWARE!

I use for spywars , ; spybot , it is easy to handle with it.And for ad-ware i use Ad-Aware SE Professional.That is also a very good program.But when it comes to updates.He don't update because you must buy the next version.For trojans and other virusses i use norton antivirus a good problem , when you get it and you install it sometimes he don't update with liveupdate you must go to the homepage of nortonantivirus and install it there from.Suc6,Guevara

While I do use both Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware, Spybot's been getting on my nerves lately since when it runs on startup it still rarely fixes the problem and just says it still couldn't fix it.

 

Also, Norton Internet Security (from Norton SystemWorks) just showed an attempted attack and for the first time I messed around the Virus Tracking stuff and it showed the attacker's IP address and their hosting company info

 

I just sent an email to the hosting company to see if they can handle the situation knowing the attacker's IP address

 

So yeah, I'm liking SystemWorks now, now that I'm starting to realize more of what it's capable of concerning virus attacks

Wow. I didn't know adware like that existed. Did you consider updating your Spybot? Maybe it didn't know how to fix it yet, but then, it you already updated it, >_>.

So far, I haven't had such problems, but if I do, I'd consider searching for an alternative. I'm using Mcafee Virus Scan (also detects adware) with Spybot so far, and Spybot does most of the work. I don't feel like cashing in pay software, though.

I suggest dumping Internet Explorer first, then use Mozilla Firefox... then, use a wonderful spyware cleaner like Ad-Aware SE... then use another one, SpyBot Search and Destroy... Now, after using those 2 tools, try to shutdown your computer for 30 minutes and turn it ON again... I think your computer will be A-Okay...

Yeah, Microsoft's Anti-Spy works really great (at least in my opinion). When I did a scan, it had found about 11 cases of spyware/adware and it took me by suprise when in the end, all of it was deleted. I did have one problem though. I had got one of those nasty little trojan downloaders. It was VERY tough to get rid of.

Microsoft Anti-Spy works really good buts some adware which is originally came from microsoft itself didn't detect the their Atni-Spy programs, that how microsoft works, they block some programs life other browser.. I suggest you use not only one but two anti-spy program, Yahoo anti spy and microsoft would be better, and add the spyboth destroyer to make it complete...

so is there a setting in the spyware that tells itself that if the computer is off for 30 mins not to run when turned back on?

 

turning the computer off has no effect on spyware.

if your car has problems do you turn it off wait 30 mins and bam everything is working?

 

The only way to remove spyware is to use:

1. spyware removal programs

2. Manually remove it from the registry

3. Fdisk, Format, Reinstall

My advice is that you should re-install Windows after futile attempts to restore the operating system to normal. I don?t mean that those anti-spyware software do not work, ad-aware and spybot are quite good to start with, Norton Internet Security 2005 now has an anti-spyware edition and McAfee also offers similar products (the one from M$ really sucks, it puts famous spyware like Gator on the ignore list). These software may remove the spyware from your computer if you are lucky, but they won?t restore the changes those spyware made to your system. There may be traces of the spyware in the registry and suspicious .dll dynamic link libraries left at your windows root, which are not good things to have. They may also affect performance. So if I were you, I will reinstall windows from scratch to make sure everything is fine. The next thing then is to have a good anti spyware software on your machine. Norton?s newly released Norton Internet Security 2005 Anti Spyware Edition is a good one, although it takes up huge amount of system resources. Then you have to install Firefox / Mozilla, disable Java and xpi installation and pop-ups and make sure that you never touch the stupid Internet Explorer again except during Windows update. By these two measures alone, you can stop 99% of spyware from entering your computer. Also, your browsing habit may have to change a little bit. Usually sites plagued with spyware are those warez sites or pornographic sites. If you really want to visit those sites, make sure your are fully armored. Hope that your system will recover soon?

T100 has the best advice here, just save all your files on a CD or two, re-install windows, your programs, and slap your files back on, and it'll work.

First of all update your virus definitions and scan your computer fully while running safe mode (this ensures that viruses will really be deleted if found). You can run safe mode by restarting your computer and then pressing f8 repeatedly or once while a menu appears. Then select Safe Mode with control keys and press enter. If it doesn't help (if no viruses were found) try running ad-aware and spybot with the latest definitions. Also check your registry with registry mechanic for invalid entries... You can also try checking your hard drive for errors or defragmenting your hard drive, but I'm not sure if it helps.Good Luck,Pentiumas.

I would suggest getting a program called spy sweeper it gets rid of all the spam and adware plus you can keep it running in the background to block spam and spyware while your surfing the internet.

Hi Again:Yahoo has an anti spyware device icon with its toolbar. So, when you load their toolbare you get the program. It is an icon in the toolbar. I have just recently learned about it. i have used it a few times, seems to work fine. And its free.Sunkist
