For an End-game computer type, here's the specs that you should consider:Video Card 9500M or higher and capable for 3D rendering would be good.A good space for RAM 2GB and Higher is better.If you can afford the Quad Core is totally awesome.If still got some budget get a good quality Sound card for best result.Good luck!

I would suggest to use a third party software for that, such a LAN Messenger. That is much easier that those steps above. You can search it through google.

There's no way to make your Laptop to be a WIFI hotspot in order to connect your other wireless device. All though you can use the Ad-hoc connection buts that for a computer-computer connection only. Why don't buy a wireless router to get your life much easier.

I would suggest to update you ISP connection to DSL or something higher than the Dial-up connection. Also try to scan your computer for some malware, virus and spyware that possible gets you disconnected from the Internet.

If you're using a Wireless Modem and want to connect another laptop to it, your doing it wrong. I will go for DELL Inspiron, based on their specs Inspiron got really decent than the other one.
