Why do people have dogs? Dogs don't produce much in most countries. Like in some Northern regions dogs serve like pulling sledges. That can be considered to contribute to the economy. But in countries with less snow the dogs don't pull sledges. In war time some dogs served like transportation dogs. Some dogs help blind people to find their way. The dogs help to avoid obstacles in their way. Other dogs serve like for the task to find mines. These dogs can be considered very helpfull and life saviers. Other dogs are trained to find drugs in the luggage at the air port. They help the government to execute the drugs and health politics. Other dogs are trained disaster dogs. They help to find people who are burried under the ruins of collapsed buildings. The police uses dogs to keep protesting people under control.

This is a sort of a description of some tasks dogs execute. An observation can be that in these cases the dog is in some way usefull for the people.

In lots of households dogs don't work in these jobs. A dog can help to protect the house. A house with a dog, especially when it barks at night, can help to prevent the house from being robbed and entered by a burglar. So for that reason a dog can be very usefull. A dog can give a save feeling when walking outside with a dog. Allthough it is very likely some dogs will be the first ones to hide away when an agressive person approaches the boss and the dog.

After this list of possible usefull jobs and tasks for a dog the question still remains: Why do people have dogs? In contrary to the popular belief dogs are very expensive. The dog needs to eat. And most of the dog food is not for free. Dogs sometimes need veterinarian treathment. And most veterinary doctors don't hand out their services for free. And it is usefull for a dog owner to have an insurance. Because a dog is an animal. And a dog can harm somebody. And a dog can cause damage to other peoples ownings and goods. And the owner of the dog can in some cases or in most cases be held responsible for the damage. A dog needs a lead to. And it is handy to have some dog stuff, like toys, a bowl to drink and a bowl to eat out. Because not all people like their dog to use the gear the other members of the household use for their food and drinks.

Taking in consideration that a dog costs money and maybe can considered to be expensive and that for most households a dog doesn't contribute to the household income there seems to be no explicite explanation and no obvious reason and no economical ground for the situation, that some people in the Western world have dogs in their houses.

This is a suggestion to Misses Sheepdog. Maybe it is an idea to start to post about the things you like yourself. The recommendation is to try to forget for some time the idea that your topic starts need to be interesting for other members and visitors.

It is almost certain that in spite of the comments some of the topics might get about being not interesting there are some people who read your topics, love the themea and nevertheless they don't feel the need to reply and they still enjoy that they had the change to learn something about the opinion and the life of somebody else by your topics.

And even when this would not be the case topics that interest the topic starter add to the diversity of the forum. And diversity can be one of the things that attract different people.

    ROTFLMAO!!!!
Oh, I'm sorry, but that was just too funny not to comment on. While I hate critisizing others for the spelling as I'm not that good of a speller either, but that was just too cute! Dogs should never have vegetarian treatment, though they may occasionally need to see a veterinary.

I'll have to get back to you later with some more constructive comments.

Hey guys I know its been a while since I posted but I still return because this place is unique. The free hosting is just a bonus because the amount of content you can find here is more vast, diverse and of higher quality than most other forums I have been to. Sure there are others but sometimes they focus on only one topic of interest so you really only go there and leave after you found what you are looking for. In my opinion coming here shouldn't really just be about getting free hosting. You can get it at other sites (not sure i should say that here or even if its allowed). The hosting here isn't perfect but its good from what I remember... I'm not sure what happen to my hosting account but I was inactive for a long time due to stress of work and study so my account went over due and the last I remember I accumulated so much invoices that I couldn't even pay it with my cents. I worked out a deal to pay for a few months off the invoices just to get the data I have on my account since I lost all copies on my end. My portfolio site was up there and I needed it bad to look for a job. I dont particularly like how rude some people come across expecting the owner to cater to their every needs. This isn't a free service so don't expect that. Criticizing the moderators too when I know for a fact they help out when they can. Complaining isn't going to help you get help any quicker. Please just learn to be more patient and considerate. I'm sorry I just had to express my dislike for such behaviors. I was hoping maybe I could start over again in getting my hosting back up using mycents but by the looks of things it seems to be very bad here recently. I cant even log into my billing account using the password recover is this broken? I get the password sent to me but logging does not work. Other then wanting free hosting like most do I would like to network with people who share the same interest. I've progressed a lot during this year and have been developing in java, java fx mainly but I wish to return to PHP and I am currently picking up Zend Framework as well. It seems easier this time round since I have a much better understanding of software development principles. If anyones in need of any help with zend framework or wish to discuss about better programming practices using MVC then hit me up I would be more then happy to help. I have struggled with getting to grips with it in the past and would have liked someone to teach me the ropes in the begging but there was really no one. The best way to learn is through peers and teaching I think.I am pretty excited about progressing more and expanding my knowledge here so I hope this place keeps thriving. I hope to hear about all the exciting projects everyones been working or currently as I am naturally curious about others.

rob86 got a reaction from abazi16 in What Does My Dream Mean?
I know at the meaning of my dream is. It means I ate too much cake before going to bed. I normally don't remember my dreams, but I remembered this one short one so I guess I'll share it. It's more interesting than no posts at all isn't it?The dream starts out and I see an average every-day mouse. It's running around doing whatever mice do, and for some reason I pick it up and examine it. The mouse looks in very bad shape, it's got deep cuts and wounds and is generally a disgusting site to behold. Imagine a zombie mouse with flesh falling off etc.So then I'm disgusted by this and put the mouse outside through a glass door. The mouse doesn't run away, it stares back through the door and jumps at it, acting like a mouse would do. Then, another mouse comes out of nowhere from the inside, and it runs towards the first mouse. They look at each other through the glass (it's clear they're "friends") and jump at the glass trying to get through. The second mouse runs around frantically trying to find a way to be with it's friend, and then out of nowhere *SNAP* I see the mouse just ran into a mouse trap and had it's head crushed. The dream ends with the first (Zombie) mouse transforming into a cartoony frog with big eyes staring sadly at the event, and to express sadness his eyes look a little like this but the big eye and little eye keep switching back and forth. Here's my interpretation of the dream. I've heard rustling in the walls which is presumably a mouse, and it's always been in the back of my mind that a mouse is going to pop out of nowhere in real life. The zombie appearance is because I've been playing a game about zombies. The mouse getting caught in a trap is because I feel great sadness when I see animals or pets killed. The weird frog ending was either because I saw a cartoon frog online doing this, or I use the icon a lot on myKS..My interpretation isn't very interesting.. but I think it's the most accurate. I should have picked another dream to write about that was more confusing. I dream a couple times almost every night.. but I rarely remember the details. This one just happened to be very short so it stuck in my head..

rob86 reacted to The Simpleton in Honour Killing In India what kind of honour is it for the family
It's truly a tragic situation but compared to the situation in the past hundred years, the picture is improving. The crimes still happen and women in some parts of India are still ill-treated, but all hope is not lost. The young generation is realising how barbaric such deeds are. So I guess this is the last generation which will suffer such parental pressures. In another 10-20 years, the present youth will become parents and they will have the capacity to think clearly, so hopefully these crimes will come down as well.

rob86 got a reaction from OpaQue in Official Knowledgesutra Irc [resolved] A whole new way to get help, and chat
To be safe on IRC requires only the same common sense you would use on any other part of the internet. One slight difference is that (depending on the Admin's server configuration) your I.P. address may be visible to anyone. This is not very different than most things on the internet and really not a cause for extra concern. On Windows, to protect yourself against port scans etc you can download a free FireWall such as ZoneAlarm. You should have one anyway, regardless of IRC. On Linux you already have a firewall and you probably know how to secure your computer somewhat anyway. You can also use a free Proxy on most IRC clients (if the Network permits.. which Soviet's claims not to but I used one) if you are paranoid.Another thing to know about IRC is that most clients support DCC file transfers.. which is just a file transfer like you would have on any IM Messenger such as MSN. The only difference is it is possible for viruses to be sent out just like they are in email. This is a common tactic used in VERY popular channels on popular networks. Once again, this is relatively harmless unless you are very careless-- just DO NOT run ANY files you from people you don't trust. They will not download if you do not accept them, and some clients such as mIRC have potentially dangerous file types ignored by default. Common sense. Having an AntiVirus would help make things safer. Here's a very important and less obvious safety tip. Some IRC clients such as the most popular mIRC has a very powerful scripting language. This means like any programming language, it has the potential to be used for evil purposes. For anyone running Linux.. you should already know that you should not run mysterious commands in the terminal. This applies to IRC as well.DO NOT TYPE/PASTE ANY COMMANDS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND OR THAT LOOK SUSPICIOUS! There are a few ways for a knowledgeable mIRC scripter to encrypt a command, tell you to run it, and it could delete (mostly) EVERYTHING on your Windows computer. All mIRC commands begin with a slash (/) so do NOT feel curious if you see someone tell you "Hey guyzz.. this is AWESOME.. look at this... paste this line. /ZXVJOSADJ@#O%$J@#OJOSAJDSOZJCOXZCOSKFSOAK@#O$K@#OK%_!)%$". The only danger would come from actually copy and pasting this persons command and using it. Duh, don't do it! If you're paranoid, you can use a client that doesn't support that style of scripting. But you are most likely safe. Also, you don't want to click on strange web URL (links). Once again, this is just like if you were chatting or e-mailing anywhere else.Well there are some safety tips. It is my belief that mIRC is perfectly safe as long as you follow the common sense you would always use on the internet. FireWall, AntiVirus will do well in protecting Windows users. The 'dangerous command' I mentioned does sound scary given it's potential for destruction, but you will probably never see anyone attempt this anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. It's no different than someone giving you destructive Linux commands on a support forum or a Windows .bat file that deletes everything. Keep in mind that as of this moment the server is run by Soviet's friend and has a small amount of users and the #Xisto chat in particular only contains members of this forum. This means it is unlikely that somebody is going to target you for any kind of hacking attack anyway but it is prudent to be aware of the possibilities.Soviet or anyone else might have more to add..
