What awful news :)I think it's really sad that rumours were spread that 12 of the 13 miners were alive and the poor families were given hope in vain. But I think that we shouldn't really be too hard on the ones who started the rumour, because they probably didn't do it with any intention of harming anyone. It actually is a very good idea to use robots to do the work down there instead of miners - just look at China... lousy mining processes and protocol, so many miners die every year, and they never learn...

O_O Woah... very serious discussion here... here's my 2 cents worth:I personally think that it is not sinful for anyone to celebrate Halloween. In the first place, many religions to a certain extent have influences gained from each other, and if you really went to the root of a lot of them, you might as well just not bother celebrating any of them. Christmas for example, was merged by the Romans, who wanted to bring peace between the pagans and christians. The Christmas tree is pagan, as is the tradition of eating lamb and eggs etc etc at Easter. So are you going to toss out your Christmas ornaments and the Easter Bunny now too? There is no real harm in any of this because of the fact that it brings millions of people together in peace every year. I am very certain that God does not disapprove of this.Halloween is an innocent festival/event/occassion celebrated more for children nowadays - there is no true religious meaning to it at all. Yes, the capitalistic nature of it does suck, and there will always be people trying to ruin things for other people, but if it bothers you, don't celebrate it, as people have said in this thread. If you really care so much about it religiously, go celebrate All Saints' Day and do it properly. But I highly doubt that God is going to go, "Aaah... you dressed up as Spiderman/Cinderella at Halloween... you have sinned greatly against me and I intend to smite you down in all my holy fury..." - please... could we get back to the important aspects of the Bible, the core themes of love, care, concern and compassion for others? As long as you do not hurt anyone through your actions (on this day as on any other), there is nothing wrong in celebrating it.Really, there is a huge problem with this religion that people cannot look beyond the words in the bible and grasp the core, essential themes. It's just like the Salem pilgrims saying, "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" and going and killing people on that claim. I think God would prefer you dress up as a ghost and ask people for candy as opposed to taking another person's life - that's how I equate evil. Dressing up as Spiderman and running around for candy? Not quite on my panic radar...

What Do You Think Of The Books I Own? my favorite books
concertina226 replied to quiksilver's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I agree with you Saint_Michael... we can't live without books, they rock! All of the best ideas are from books, most movies and tv shows are from stories someone has written... when we study in schools and universities, we're essentially studying from books someone has written, noting down disciplines tried and tested through the ages... so how can one not think reading is worth while? quiksilver - I think u have a good selection of books there, esp. the LOTR series, but the others are right, you gotta get into HP! yoofus - I think ur signature is very offensive, especially in light of the recent London Bombings. -
I'll definitely agree that "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" was not anywhere near as good as the first movie, you're right about that. The original was much better. To be honest, Super Mario Bros wasn't that bad a movie. It's main problem was that it didn't really look like the Super Mario Bros. games. Koopa looked more like a human than a giant turtle with an attitude, and the Goombas were not mushrooms. It was still good if you forget the connection to the video game and just enjoy the film I just meant that it didn't do so well in theaters, not that it was necessarily a bad movie.

Of the games I've played, I prefer the first Underground game. It did a good job of mixing skateboarding with a story that did involve the sport, culminating in a skate off/chase scene between you and your antagonist. The second Underground game was alright too, but it seemed to get away from the actual skateboarding aspect in favor of a story that, at times, bordered on the ridiculous, involving doing as much property damage as you can. I also didn't really care for the fact that there aren't as many pro skaters in the second game as in the first. In the first one, you had guys such as Tony, Bob, Bam, Eric, Chad, and Mike V, who were also in the sequel but you also had people like Bucky Lasek, Arto Saari, Kareem Campbell, Elissa Steamer, Geoff Rowley, Paul Rodriguez, and Andrew Reynolds. In the second game, they were all removed and replaced with skaters like aliens, snack vendors, and even a giant hand Granted, they both had some strange hidden skaters, like Shrek or Iron Man. I just prefer the first Underground to the second one.Considering how different the two games seem to be, I've got to admit I'm curious which direction the next Tony Hawk game, American Wasteland, is going to take. I've read some early articles about it, and it seems promising, with a good story and a nice focus on skating, with some on BMX as well. Is anyone else looking forward to this one?

Wheee Vacation! (Or as we say on the other side of the pond, Holiday! )I've had a lot of different holidays, but one of the best I ever had was in 2003, when we went back to my home country England for a whole month. We went to Hastings and it was one of the loveliest holidays I'd ever had. I really, really badly wanted to visit Hastings because there's so much history there and I'm a real history nut - as you know, William the Conqueror (invaded England in 1066, built Hastings castle as Wheee Vacation! (Or as we say on the other side of the pond, Holiday! )I've had a lot of different holidays, but one of the best I ever had was in 2003, when we went back to my home country England for a whole month. We went to Hastings and it was one of the loveliest holidays I'd ever had. I really, really badly wanted to visit Hastings because there's so much history there and I'm a real history nut - as you know, William the Conquerer (Norman) invaded England in 1066, built Hastings castle as a defence against the Saxons, and then they fought the Battle of Hastings at Battle, and on the spot where William slay the Saxon King Harold, he erected a cathedral, Battle Abbey, and both these places were about 900 years old so I was dying to visit them both!History aside though, it was wonderful being back there. We rented a lovely holiday cottage and bought food and had fun preparing nice English meals, roasts and stuff, eating our favourite foods we can't get out here in Singapore often... On top of that there was a beach, and a thriving town centre nearby with loads of interesting shops, and even a big new shopping mall! So it was like I had the best of both worlds... rustic country England versus more modern town centre... and of course, TV in England is absolutely brill... most people in the UK watch tons of TV... it's just so great there.... and so we shopped, ate, explored, watched tons of tv... and to crown it all off... on our last day there, which was also the day before my birthday, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came out! :(Best holiday ever I think

Yeah, of the three games, I'd have to say the trailer resembles the third one the most. The trailer seemed to take place in a military base, instead of the caves and station areas of the first game, and the decor seemed to resemble the third game more, being more realistic (Which makes sense since it's a live action movie ) than the others. Now, I know there have been some game-based-movie flops, like Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter, but there have been ones that managed to pull it off, like the Mortal Kombat films, and, depending on who you ask, the Resident Evil ones. Unfortunately, the track record of this kind of thing is dubious enough that you can't really be sure if Doom will be a hit or a miss until it comes out. I'm hoping they do a great job on it though!

I've read some really interesting stuff about this game, actually. For one thing, it's not exactly a direct sequel to "X-Men: Legends." I know that one was supposed to be based on the "Ultimate X-Men" comics. This one, from what I've read, is supposed to be based more on the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline. It's not a direct copy, but it's based on it, featuring many of the same lead characters and locations. I know it's got new playable characters, such as Magneto, Angel, and Bishop, as well as just about all of the old ones. It looks like they're shooting for a release date of September 20th, according to GameFAQs.

Sim City is a really good game series. I've played Sim City 2000, but I'm not really that good at it. I end up spending way too much on roads between my city and the outlying areas. I also tend to unleash a lot of the disasters, just to see what happens. My personal favorite was the floating alien robot thing that flies through the town and zaps stuff. I always wondered though, was that supposed to do anything specific? I've had things catch on fire, as you'd expect from being blasted with an alien death ray, but I've also occasionally had trees pop up, which I thought was kind of weird.

I think Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight was really good. It did a great job of continuing with the heroes from the first Dark Forces game: Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors. The controls with all of the Force powers took some getting used to, but the character handled really well, and the graphics were pretty good for the time. I know they're nowhere near the level of, say, Doom 3, but they were still good. The story was awesome too, with all of the twists and turns traveling all over trying to find the Valley of the Jedi and keep it out of Jerec's hands, and I liked how you could choose whether you joined the light or dark side by how you act in the game.Of course, the only part I really didn't like was the level where you had to escape the cargo ship. The time limit on there was brutal!

LOL Yipster... *checks you into rehab and tells the docs not to let you out till the alien theory is gone* Yeah I watched all the documentaries about Tutankhamun, including the new ones about the 3rd new scan this year. But although there was no evidence of disease etc etc, it is still clear that he was very likely murdered. Tutanknamun was the only son of Pharaoh Ahkenaten, the heretic king, who was the only Egyptian king ever to turn his back against the Egyptian religious order of Maat and the gods and turn towards monotheistic worship. when Ahkenaten died, the people returned to Maat and Tutankhamun was forced to follow what the religious priests said. The documentaries said also that it seemed very clear that Tutankhamun was buried in a hurry, one reason why they believe everybody forgot about him and tomb robbers never found his funerary treasures. If you look at the pictures of Tutanknamun's tomb the way they found it, you'll see that all of the funerary treasures were stacked really haphazardly, like they'd been put in, in a hurry: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Just imagine... the treasures were really PRICELESS... why would you just throw them in quickly? People would normally take their time... but they didn't with Tutankhamun's burial. What's more, it's believed that the hole on the back of his head was caused by abrupt handling of his body by the mummy wrapers during the 90 days required to prepare his mummy before the funeral... Anyway, personally, I think that all this to do with Tutankhamun is a waste of time after a certain extent. Just because Tut's treasures were discovered intact doesn't mean that he was particularly important. There are many other pharaohs who lived fuller lives and accomplished many many things, as opposed to a 19-year-old who lived a pampered life and went hunting sometimes... i mean, come on! What about Ramses II, Ramses III, Seti I, Khufu, Khafra... even Akhenaten was more interesting!

Ever Feel Like A Loser? Are girls in college better?
concertina226 replied to zach101's topic in Dating And Relationships
LOL Ohmigosh you guys are so cute! :DIt's really refreshing to see you guys talking about girls and dating problems in this way, because from a girl's perspective, it always seems that girls are the emotional ones who obsess about stuff, while guys are calm, cool, collected and always know what they're doing...Over recent years as I've interacted more and more with the opposite sex I've started to realise that the whole "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" theory is real rubbish. In fact it seems to me that we create barriers between ourselves exactly by feeling, "hey what the hell is he/she thinking? he/she is a million light years away from me... i just don't get men/women".I think that personally all of us feel like a loser sometimes. And while you guys are sitting at the table at your prom feeling shy and stupid cos you aren't getting up to dance or just in general not mixing much with girls in public, we're probably sitting at the next table thinking you're just too cool for words and probably think we're too uncool, and that's why you're not coming over to chat us up.To me, the bottom-line is being honest and being yourself. Even if you think that being yourself means being a loser and uncool and you're never going to get that hot chick/dude, pretending to be someone you're not is far worse and really goes nowhere in the long run. My guy mates often tell me they have problems knowing what a girl is thinking, and they respect me for being honest... and it's the same thing with girls... we spend half our time wondering what you're thinking, whether the reason you're not calling is because we had something stuck in our teeth (as opposed to you lost our number )So here's my advice... embrace your quirks, be who you are, like what you like, and talk to people... talk to as many as you can and sooner or later you'll find a couple who not only don't think you're a geek, but actually think you're really cool for being just the way you are -
Golden Eye 007 For The N64 Golden Eye 007 For The N64

I don't believe there are any flash versions of the game out there, but I could be wrong.Ohhh the remote mines! I remember those things. I was playing the game with some friends, and the girl I was teamed with littered the floor of the bunker with remote mines. I was walking through on the way to find our opponent (It was a two on one game, you see.), and she thought I was him and detonated the mines. As you can guess, I was pretty well dead.At the end of that round, I looked at her and said "You were supposed to blow him up, not me." -
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I'd first heard this game was coming out. I really like Lego, and I really like Star Wars, but I really had a hard time believing they could put the two of them together in a game. All the same, though, I was willing to give it a shot.To put it mildly, I was blown away! I definitely feel that this is one of the best, if not the best Star Wars games ever made. This actually has a lot of the things you could hope to find in a game. The graphics are surprisingly realistic for a Lego game. The characters move pretty much as you'd expect Lego characters to move, and there are some nice lightsaber and laser effects. The levels are rendered really well too, skirting the border between real and Lego. My only real complaint is that there tends to be some slowdown when things get really hectic or there's a lot of smoke from explosions. The controls are usually pretty realistic, though there are times when they might be a little sluggish, particularly if you're working on swinging a lightsaber combo together. Thankfully, these times are few and far between. Once you learn the controls, which doesn't really take that long (The game itself tells you which button does what in the earlier levels.), you can pretty much dive into the game. You can play through different sorts of levels, from on foot to podracing to flying a gunship to piloting a Jedi Starfighter above a planet in the middle of a fierce space battle. There's no limit of things to do here. The story is basic Star Wars. Nothing more I could really get into, though the characters don't really talk at all, aside from the occasional grunt or shout as they fall off a ledge or something. You play as a variety of characters playing through the first three (By first, I mean prequel, the ones that happened first) movies, as well as a special bonus level, but more on that one later. All of the main characters are here, from Obi-Wan to Anakin to Palpatine to R2-D2.Speaking of sound, all of the important sounds are in this game, from the swinging and clashing of lightsabers to the sounds of lasers erupting from pistols or blaster cannons. They also could have gone with music that befits a game designed for younger gamers, but they didn't, thank the Force. You have music straight from the movies, all conducted by John Williams for your listening pleasure! This game also actually has a fair amount of replay value. You can try to save up studs to buy hidden characters, hints, or bonus features for your game, like one that causes all of the characters to be shown in silhouette or one that causes characters to wield tea cups instead of blasters, as well as the old standby, invincibility. As you go through the levels, you can also collect ten canisters which, when added up at the end of the level, build a vehicle to be shown in the parking lot outside of the diner you start the game in. While you're doing this, you can also collect studs which help fill up your Jedi meter. When it's full and you finish a level, you get a special Lego piece that helps build part of another vehicle that, once complete, opens up a hidden level.I'd actually give this game a pretty high recommendation. It's not as deep as Knights of the Old Republic or anything like that, but if you just want a fun romp through the Star Wars universe, this game is it

What Is Your Favorite Books/series Come on Tell us Lol...
concertina226 replied to BeyondEarth's topic in General Discussion
Wheee my favourite books I love a lot of different fantasy book series, but I'm going to narrow it down to just a few for this post The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling First off would definitely be the Harry Potter series (I'm a HUGE fan of the series, collect everything you can think of to do with it etc.), but that surely needs no introduction, so let's move on. http://harrypotter.scholastic.com/ StarBridge There's a really, really great author called A.C. Crispin who wrote this smashing science fiction series in the early to mid 90s called StarBridge. StarBridge is about humans discovering that there's life beyond our star system... in the future, overpopulation causes humans to colonise other planets in our star system, but then one day in the future in a trip out in space, a spaceship of humans hears a weird radio frequency coming from a certain amount of light years away, so they follow it and come upon another star system with a whole different alien sentient species (sentient means you have your own culture, your own language, your own social order etc, so they're not considered animals or other lower life forms) At the end of the first book, the humans discover that there are quite a few "worlds" that have been discovered and that these alien beings have joined together to trade with and learn about each other, and would love for our world to join them. The alien beings on the snake-like world Shasisizz, where a council of aliens from the diff worlds reside, ask one of the humans if he'd like to be the principal of a school they want to set up, to train different sentient beings from diff worlds about each others' cultures and worlds, so that they'd facilitate diplomatic relations, trade and mutual technological advances for all the different planets, and they put the school on this planet belonging to Shasisizz that is out in space right in between all of the different worlds, and they name the school "StarBridge". The successive books are all about the challenges the student diplomats face as they interact with other alien worlds - there's a lot to be learnt about how people react to different cultures and the politics of religion vs. technological advances (i.e. from thinking your the only ones out there, to discovering that there are many other sentient cultures who seem so alien to you). Although the series is out-of-print (I got into it after a family friend's recommendation), it's still available online on Amazon and on eBay in many places. I've spent the last 3 years tracking down the rest of the books in the series, and they are really top-notch - a series no sci-fi fan can do without... https://www.amazon.com/159-1026313-7748225?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce Tamora Pierce is another truly great fantasy writer who celebrates feminism in the form of brave, decisive, strong-willed female protagonists who find their place in the world by striking out alone and doing the unexpected, often disregarding rigid medieval society. The Song of the Lioness Quartet is about a young girl named Alanna of Trebond, who dreams of becoming a knight at court in Tortall and having adventures instead of becoming a proper young Lady. She switches places with her twin brother (who wants to become a Mage) and trains as a knight, while hiding her identity till her 18th birthday when she is knighted. The quartet follows her journey from page to squire to knight and the adventures, trials and tribulations faced by a young girl who eventually discovers who she wants and is meant to be. http://www.amazon.com/181-4845448-9314404?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 The Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce The Immortals is about Veralidane Sarrasri (Daine), a young farm girl who has no father. When her mother and her family of animals are brutally murdered by raiders, Daine sets out by herself, journeying to the capital city Tortall to serve as a horse handler (she has an uncannying way with animals). She follows a journey too, learning to leave behind the stigma of having no father and find a place to put her magical gift to good use and help protect her country. http://www.amazon.com/181-4845448-9314404?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien Due to the fabulous movies that were released from 2001-2003, there is no real need to introduce what these books are about, but they are truly masterpieces. The books read like the real history of our world in ancient times far before christ, a world of Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, Elves and Wizards, where magic and reality collide and the four species must come together to defend Middle Earth against the greatest evil ever known. The books are graceful, enchanting prose (although the songs can get a wee bit longwinded) - absolute must-reads! https://www.amazon.com/154-6297111-0949535?ie=UTF8&v=glance Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer The Artemis Fowl series is a hilarious, quick-witted story that is at once a detective story, a science-fiction, a comedy and a fantasy all rolled into one. The protagonist is 11-year-old Artemis Fowl, a young genius and heir to an Irish Crime Lord. Taking after his father of course, Artemis plots to increase his family's fortune by taking advantage of his discovery of the magical faerie world. His kidnap of a faerie police officer leads to a full-on battle between the humans and the faeries in a fast-paced, action-packed adventure that will keep you reading to the end. There are currently 4 books in the series and ach book gets better than the last - fantasy/sci-fi fans MUST read these books! Well I hope you enjoyed my post... do check out these books! -
I'm not as knowledgable about the Playstation as I am the other consoles, but I would have to say I prefer Nintendo to the Xbox. I have had the opportunity to play games on both systems, and Nintendo is the winner, hands down. Case in point, I have had the opportunity to play "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" on both systems. The Gamecube's graphics looked smoother and more fluid, animation-wise, whereas the Xbox's seemed foggier and not as crisp. I'm not sure if that may have been the television set I was playing it on, or what, but that's how it appeared to me.As was stated already in this thread, Nintendo is the only one of the original video game companies that's really still around in any competitive sense. Atari and Sega both produce games for other systems, but they no longer make their own consoles or games for theirs. Sony and Microsoft both got into the market relatively late in the game. I actually think Nintendo has been forced to work even harder to stay in the business because they have been around as long as they have. They are having to keep up with the new kids in town, and as far as I'm concerned, they are doing a very good job of it. They are producing high quality games for its systems, and they have managed to create a variety of characters and series that have been accepted and beloved by gamers the world over. If you show them Mario, Luigi, or Link, almost everyone will know who they are. Other systems and games are catching up, and I am sure it will not be very long at all until names like Sam Fisher, Conker, and Solid Snake are spoken of in the same way.I don't really think Nintendo is losing its touch either. The newest Legend of Zelda game is definitely one of the most eagerly awaited release we know about. With that in mind, I actually look forward to seeing what all three companies have in store for us!

I have to confess that I've only had the good fortune to play a few of the Final Fantasy games, so I may not be totally qualified to pick a best game, but I'm actually partial to the first one. I think that it actually helped set the standard for a lot of the role playing games that came after it. It featured a good, epic storyline, having to travel all over the world to find the four Orbs. enemies that offered a challenge and didn't just sit there waiting for you to kill them (One of my first times playing, I took two steps out of town and got myself killed by a pack of wolves. Don't ask.) It was also one of the first, if not the first, RPG games to pull off teams effectively, with each member having a different defining aspect. These ranged anywhere from the classic Fighter (specializing in fighting, naturally) to the Black Mage (fighting magic) to the White Mage (helping magic). It was the game that got the whole series rolling, and it's worthy of respect just for that. One game in the series that I think gets kind of a bad rap is Crystal Chronicles. I know a lot of people may not like it because it's different from your normal Final Fantasy game. It features more real-time action than turn-based gameplay. You also increase your stats by finding certain artifacts or equipping certain items. If you look past the differences, however, you find a very solid game. It also has an interesting, compelling storyline that plays out the farther you go and the longer you play. Along with the main story, about the struggle to protect your home from Miasma, Crystal Chronicles also has a wide variety of side stories, which range from a missing princess to a mysterious Lilty in black armour who has been known to attack caravans like the one your character travels with. Crystal Chronicles also gives you a fair amount of customization in your game. You can choose one of four tribes with their own unique history, choose whether the character is male or female, and then choose one of four appearances to your character. If that isn't enough, you can change your appearance further, for example, by equipping him or her with different shields or swords (If you're a Clavat.) or other weapons, depending on your tribe. It was slightly different than your normal Final Fantasy game, but a good one nonetheless.

Wheeeee interesting debate I personally think that there's a lot to be said for both Macs and Windows (PCs). I've used both... I have an IBM laptop and I used eMacs in school... so let's go through the pros and the cons... eMacs A lot of my classmates were "Mac-evangelists" who adored Macs, so I heard a LOT about Apple products while I was in college. While I used to think that Macs were practically unusable and really complicated as opposed to my nice familiar Microsoft Windows, after using Macs for a while I realised that that's not really fair. If you can get used to the idea that your mouse doesn't have 2 buttons (unless you use a PC mouse), there are actually a lot of similar features for both platforms. Plus, Apple is all about style, and it really shows. The toolbar is animated with icons that look almost 3D and bob up and down, everything is really classy, right down to the product shapes and designs - there's a reason that tv shows use Macs and not PCs The fact that you don't need the specific software to plug in your digicam or thumbdrive is really useful, as is the nifty Toast program that burns cds, and of course, there's the useful fact that most computer viruses don't exist in Mac format yet... Of course though, the mouse thing can get irritating, the platform seems at first completely different to Microsoft, programs have an unnerving lack of background (they're all transparent so you sometimes lose track of which program you're in) and just cos there aren't viruses now isn't a guarantee that they won't make an appearance in the future. Microsoft Good ole' Microsoft. Ever-dependable, the platform most of us have grown up using, totally predictable (and therefore not surprising), user-friendly, useful, the ruler of the global software market. Microsoft Windows is good, I love it, but those viruses really get old, don't they? Also there's that annoying fact that Windows XP wasn't made properly and has many many errors, so you're better off with earlier versions of it (which kinda defeats the purpose...). Plus, the higher the version of Windows you have, the more obsolete & incompatible your old PC games become... and not all the best games are the one made today. Also, if you compare the design & style to Mac, Microsoft falls short... So yeah... personally I think both products are evenly matched

When I saw the trailer for this movie, my first thought was trying to picture the Rock picking up a demon with a Rock Bottom and then either putting it in the Sharpshooter or hitting it with the People's Elbow.I'm also willing to bet that he's going to do the eyebrow at some point during the movie. All in all, I'll hold off judgment until I see the movie. It could be good if they go about it right.

Golden Eye 007 For The N64 Golden Eye 007 For The N64
concertina226 replied to fillrbnny's topic in Computer Gaming
GoldenEye 007 was definitely one of the best games for the N64. It actually had really good graphics for its time, and the controls were usually really easy to work with. The only tricky part was switching through the gargantuan arsenal of weapons you could accumulate in some levels. It was also fairly realistic, with the enemies actually showing red to indicate where you'd shot them.GoldenEye was really the one that set the standard for spy games and first-person shooters. Several stealth games like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid, as well as many of the later shooters like Metroid Prime or TimeSplitters, owe their success to the games that preceded them, like GoldenEye.It also raised the bar when it came to multiplayer modes. You had tons of different rule sets and levels, ranging from normal settings to License To Kill to Capture the Briefcase to Slappers only (for those of you who prefer hand to hand combat) and could have over 64 playable characters (Not all at the same time, mind you.)GoldenEye had a lot going for it, and can even stand against some of the later James Bond games. -

LMAO OpaQue you won a Best Handwriting contest?! *Oops... I must try to remember... do not take the mickey of the guy who runs Xisto... do not take the mickey of the guy who runs Xisto* :PI haven't done too badly really When I was 16, I won a radio contest, the Letter of the Day on the popular teen radio station Perfect 10 here in Singapore. I kept hearing all these silly morons winning the prize with their silly little letters and the things they made for the DJ, and I thought, I can do wayyyy better than that... so I did! I made a Blues Buster... a kit of cool things to do if ur feeling blue, and I won instantly Got a goodie bag and some prepaid sim card.... and apparently the radio station liked my idea a lot, cos a year later my friend told me they started a Blues Buster kit for high school students feeling blue about exams! :oWhat else have i won....Oh yeah, Christmas 2003, I won 2 contests in the space of a week.. I won the Duran Duran World tour Live in Singapore One-Night-Only Radio Call-in Contest on Class 95 FM (I was too broke to afford tickets and I ADORE Duran Duran) and I won tickets to the fancy Gala Premiere of the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, which was a big event held in the city. My friend and I dressed up as LOTR characters (I was Arwen, she was Eowyn) and we had a total blast and got interviewed on 3 tv stations! -
I currently have an old monotone Nokia 2100, which was released when the newer camera phones came out for people who prefered the old phones. I've had it for a year and a half now and am about to change my phone to a Nokia 6610i (https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/products/mobile-devices) Would you guys happen to have any opinions or feedback to give me about it? I've always wanted a colour phone and I don't have a hang up about getting the latest phones (the Distinctly Bold line is too bulky for me). I really like the look of the Nokia 6610i because it's blue, my favourite colour, and it's slim and easy to hold, while not being too small, and it has an FM radio in it! But yeah, if you have any feedback about the battery life etc, do tell!Oh btw, my company got the Nokia 8800 to review and we tested it...It's a pretty classy phone... has a very "rich" sound to it. The display panel's made of luxury watch glass and the ringtones are by an oscar-winning Japanese composer, so it looks quite cool, but apparently the battery-life isn't all that... it only lasts one day. Also my colleague said that the screen seemed rather faint...

I'm really glad I finished college. It was somewhat fun, but also a lot of hard work, particularly my final year, because I was the Movies, Books and People editor of my college's online magazine (http://theurbanwire.com/), which is run 365 days a year with an average of one new story going up every day, so you can see how hectic it can get. It was like being a person with a fulltime job, who still had to go to school...I had to juggle final year electives on top of managing my sections in the magazine. The cool thing was that as Movies editor, I got to go to the premieres of new films. I've been to see a ton of films for free in the last year and a half, like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I, Robot, Troy, Bewitched, Stealth, Bourne Supremacy, Kung Fu Hustle, Princess Diaries 2, Mean Girls, Cinderella Story, the Terminal... the list goes on... But there was a down side too... I had to edit reporters' stories, chase reporters for articles, liase with movie distributors who advertised with us, which was a huge hassle, make sure the agreed promotions went up on time and to the clients' liking, and still wake up in time for an 8am lecture the next day and a school day that often lasted till 6pm. It got so bad that at one point my friend calculated that I was doing the work of 4 people at one go... so I am sooo glad that I finished college.I completed my last semester in April and I had my graduation ceremony last month. I'm now working as a journalist for a publishing firm that publishes 11magazines about Asian business, financial and mobile market news and I've been working there for nearly a month now There are late nights, but I still think it's better than college! -
Michael Jordan has been raised up to a really high standard. Granted, in his time playing basketball, he has earned his place among the great ones. He definitely was one of the best players the game has ever seen, leading the Bulls to several wins over the other teams. He has accomplished a lot, but it's the way of things that there's eventually going to be someone better than you are at what you do. A lot of people have been built up as being the next Michael Jordan, athletes such as LeBron James, but they haven't really lived up to the hype. However, I believe there will be another Michael Jordan, and that there won't. Someone down the line will be as talented as Jordan, and he will probably be known as "The Next Michael Jordan," but it won't stop there. Someone is bound to outdo even His Airness, and then we'll soon be referring to people as "The Next whoever" (Not really whoever, but I don't know who the guy is yet )But yes, we will see a new Michael Jordan, but we never know who it will be. I mean, did we know how big his legacy would become when he first started playing in the NBA? I'd be willing to wager not. All we can do is sit back, and watch the games, and let the players show us who it is
