Advice With Girls advice..dont get mad if Im wrong .
ana replied to rejected's topic in Dating And Relationships
well, that's an important tip then isn't it? You have to take the chance. maybe the girl would like the boy if she'd noticed or thought the boy liked her. so, show initiative I do think the "look prepared" tip is a good one. you don't have to look a certain way, but being a slob is hardly ever attractive i'm a slob... but when you are dating someone you have to show the consideration to like.. brush your teeth even when you don't feel like it -
well, even though web design is very related to computer programming... well, its also very different. I'm sure there are lots (and lots) of women who do web design. Programming stuff like Debian and GNOME is different. there is, I am sure a shortage of women in this field. as there is also a shortage of women Engineers &c. So there are always programs that try to enourage women to do these kinds of work. and rightly so, because women's minds do very often work differently than men's. as programming is very logical, and intuitive, having a different kind of mind or perspective would be very vaulable to a project. so... yeah, women should be encouraged to participate in programming projects.

Yeah, it comes out in 17 days!! My favorite is also Prisoner because it's got the best story. there is the major plot of the books, about voldemort. and then each book has its subplots, and the thrid book just has the best ones. the sirius black story of course, his parents' betrayal. the marauders. Prof. Lupin is a fav character for me. and Harry learning to fight the dementors (he learns to fight fear ). and the time travel bit makes an engaging story too!

Custom 404 Error Pages A Tutorial On How To Make Custom 404 Error Pages
ana replied to Shawn's topic in General Discussion
I really don't know much about it Tyssen, but my guess would be, or what I would try is to put your 404.php file in a directory called "errors" under the public_html directory and then put the htaccess file also just inside the public_html directory and have it refer to /errors/404.phpthat way it should work as the error page for your entire page... does that help? -
yeah, it's defaulted to Tahoma and Trebuchet MS you can see what they are and change them by going to Display Settings and on the Appearence tab click "advanced" and there you can scroll through each item and see what the default settings are (as long as they haven't been changed)

I have to agree with everything Sprnknwn says. it seems like no contest to me. from reading the article linked here it seems clear that frontpage is not as versatile and compatible as Dreamweaver and even if you are just a beginner, you will run up against its wall of limitations pretty quickly. if you want to start making nice professional looking pages quickly, you'll proly want to start with dreamweaver rather than frontpage. if you want very simple pages why not start hand coding?

Xanga? is a "weblog community" basically you can sign up, you set up your blog (weB LOG, or on line journal) hosted there with advertisements. and your friends who have a xanga page can link to each other and you can read and comment on each other's blogs... &c I like LiveJournal better. I don't use either (tho I recently signed up on LiveJournal) but from reading friends' blogs, LiveJournal seems to be very much the same but better.

wow, that was very informative Concertina, I really found that information usefull. I've always just learned everything on notepad because the price was right on it! also, what I really like about learning how to code web sites is the coding itself. its very exiting to find out how much you can do with just a text editor! and that's a lot! I've noticed though, that for many jobs and such that require web design skills they'd like you to know Dreamweaver or frontpage and whatever software they use, so I recently got Dreamweaver and just have not had time to really learn it or even play with it... but I'm looking forward to it. Though it was good to read the opinions here; its prepared me for the disapointment of finding out that I can't do *anything* I want ...imagination the limit, w/ Dreamweaver from everything I know about it (and its not terribly much) Front Page is pretty useless. and more of a crutch than a tool, because you can do it all with just notepad without the restraints of the software. am I wrong?

Ideas Give me idea about personal website
ana replied to imran's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That's my suggestion too. its something you can add a little bit every once in a while to keep the page updated. other stuff takes more time and preparation, but a blog is nice and personal too. it makes for great reading for your friends & visitors if you write your unique thoughts, ideas, strange things that happen to you. even the more mundane things can be interesting because everyone can relate.... -
which is why its very likely that he will die, or be gotten rid of at some point before the end. it is said repeatedly that as long as dumbledore is around Harry is safe and protected and that Dumbledore is the only one Voldemort ever feared. At some point before Harry raises up to finally get rid of voldemort, Dumbledore has to be gone, whether he dies or gets locked up in Askaban or somehow prevented from using his great powers to hold Voldemort back. Things have to get worse before they get better, and after Voldemort came back (to full power and body) he didn't immediately strike full force because he knew Dumbledore was aware and on the defensive. If you think of the 1st book, when it came time for Harry to face Voldemort, he had to do so because Dumbledore was gone. voldemort could only make his move when Dumbledore was away... I always thought though, that if Dumbledore had to die, it would be in the seventh book. but I really do think Sirius is dead, Rowling is always saying that it is final and that Sirius is gone for good from the life of the living, he won't even come back as gohst. I am hoping maybe Harry will get to "visit" him in the "land of the dead" somehow... like in ancient mythology (i don't remember which exact one)

The Shame To Be Italian The results of 12-13 June referendum
ana replied to emperor's topic in General Discussion
I sympathize with that frustration, living in the United States. whether it be the Catholic church or some other christian institution the general population (I guess Nixon's silent majority? definantly no longer *silent*!) is motivated by their churches. people seem to be adamant about voting morally and forget to take economic, health, and education (important political issues) into consideration when they vote. Hard core working class republicans end up screwing themselves (economically in Kansas for example) in one way or another because they believe they are doing what is morally right. Maybe its too confusing to believe that there are more important immediate issues than whether or not to teach evolution in public schools, or whether gay marriage should be explicitly banned. But blinding the masses with such ideas works great for politicians who want to pass laws that allow the rich to get richer and screw the middle class (a middle class who has made the united states a great country)... I feel like it is the Middle Ages and the mass uneducated populace does everything the church tells them to do. it allows people of power to manipulate and acheive greater power, to the point where we have less of a choice. -
I use bittorrent. it is fast. but its no good for sharing relatively small files. like one song would be too small. one album of songs would be more appropriate, because its big enough to bother doing it with bittorrent.. (in case you want to share your musical talents with your friends, just to clarify that I am not encouraging piracy either)I use the Azureus client because when I began using it I thought it would be kind of complicated and so I wanted to use a very popular one so that I could find help easily. but it really is a piece of cake! its not really hard to use or confugure so I recommend everyone to use it. I've also tried the ABC (another bittorrent client) client, and it was pretty good too.

I like thie change, but I think it needs a better header, because all that is on the top currently is just the title of the topic that you are looking at, and nothing that says that you are at the Xisto forums, for example... *shrug* maybe its not so necessary, but it would be nice.

What About Windows Longhorn Now havent paid attention to
ana replied to hulunes's topic in Operating Systems
They'll proly ban it from College Statoin. my sis went to school there. They're nuts... I wouldn't put it past them. they'll all switch to Linux or Macs -
I'm an atheist too. That comment would be offensive if I believed in god and hell. but as it is... it means nothing tho I think it would be a good idea to refrain from comments like those.

yes! only one more month! Half Blood Prince... I'm very excited. Harry Potter is definantly a favorite for me and has added some well needed joy to my life... I'm not sure it's really changed my life though. a really thought provoking book that's like no other I've read is Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man. I also like the 50's beat writers, who I've imitated in style even before I ever read them (somewhat)

I didn't know what OEMs were when I read this, much less why to stay away. so I found some information in pcguide.com buyer's guide. That looks like its really usefull information. they also have a newly updated "how to build your own pc guide" makes me want to do it! but I cannot affort it... anyway, in your opinion/knowledge Dark God (or anybody) why stay away from OEM parts? is it just too complicated and risky for someone who's not a computer expert?

ana replied to kahat's topic in General Discussion

oops. there goes me with my rash posting habits. I made a reply then found out more. I guess it helps if you know what a Google Bomb is. so, this is actually not an error on google's part. but acctually a valid result for the word "failure" because when you are looking for a failure and they give you "george w. bush" then, they gave you what you were looking for...
-
OMGthat is soo funny. maybe they did it on purpose! :Dits like the old joke... look up failure in the diccionary and you see a picture of George Bush.. well, if you google "failure" and click on the top result you see, guess what?

I hate to double post, but as I can't edit... I found this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ which says that it actually is more anonymous than before because it's harder to, er... track the tracker cool
-
the new "trackerlesss" bittorrent isn't really trackerless. a tracker is still needed for it to work. just that with this improvement, the provider of the .torrent does not also have to provide or store a tracker. at least that's what I think it means and it might even be more reliable to provide a dedicated tracker http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=795

How Good Are U At Math Where did the money go
ana replied to bluewater's topic in General Discussion
wow, I can't believe I didn't get that. I kept reading and re-reading not looking at the replies here to see if I could figure it out. but... that's a good one. because essentially they paid $2 more than they should have for the radio b/c that's what the kid took. very nice explanation Anndi -
Napoleon Dynamite is a great movie! I used to be happily obsessed with Fight Club... My favorite of all time though has to be Back to the Future... the whole trilogy. I love it and can watch it over and over...
