  1. This isn't a complaint. I'm just saying that I will be letting mymywebsites go down since I don't have the time to throw in to themright now.I still want to visit this forum, and hopefully it will regain it's former status. Anyway, I'd like to thank Xisto - Web Hosting and OpaQue for all they've done.

  2. I guess that death can work in either one of two ways 1) It can sensitize or desensitize someone. It could give someone a greater understanding of life and the people living it, or 2) make one harder, bitter and tougher. More cynical

    and less forgiving.

I guess that the first choice would come about by being philosophical, and the

second one as a defense mechanism to deal with the sense of loss.

The ideal place to do a study of this would be in a war zone.

There, one would get a true immediate sense of just how death does affect people.

Death is a rather powerful thing that affects our lives; it has happened, it does happen and it always will happen. But, we shouldn?t let the fear of death ruin our lives ? it?s going to happen, yes, but it shouldn?t be haunting us in our every waking moment that it turns us paranoid of even waking up.

When someone near to us dies, it only makes them ever dearer to us since they are gone forever in the physical and living plain, so I think death is one thing that makes a person special. If everyone were to be immortal, we wouldn?t care about each other as much because we would get tired and worn of each other and it wouldn?t be as significant.

About faith, yes, death affirms faith to us ? since we want to believe that there is a future beyond death, after life and such that our doings while we live have an effect on whether we go to a good or bad place for all eternity. But faith also affirms with us the will to go on, to go about our lives, believing that God will only take us at the proper time.

And what I see death to be lastly, it is the unveiling of our true selves. When we live, as we live, we are usually molded differently from what we want ourselves to be to fit in with the rest of society (even a little), but on the brink of death (or even at the death of another) ? all those layers are removed and we find out who we really are, we realize what we had valued the most, so on and so forth.

  3. I can see some scary things happening with the combination of Robotics/Digital/Nano
    technology.
I think it's very feasible that computers could 'run' the world. All
one has to do is look at what already happened. Years ago offices had
many, many file clerks moving files on rolling carts from office to office. Computer technology has now eliminated the use of these people completely.

That was just a beginning. Of course now they use Robots for everything from bomb
testing to factory automation. We haven't yet seen it even come close to it's
    natural conclusion.

The trouble with quotes in computing is that they are out of date by the time you use them.Certainly computers are dumb by our standards at the moment. Estimates put it somewhere between a bee and a small rodent.
The idea that computers only do what they are programmed to do is just wrong. MOST computers do, but not all. Quite a few systems now use Neural Networks or similar Artificial Intelligence technology. A neural network is not programmed like a 'normal' computer - it learns.
Here is a simple example of a neural network system : http://www.20q.net/
The neural network will attempt to guess what you are thinking of. Nobody has programmed it to do this - it learns.
Now this is a trivial example, meant largely for amusement. Much more powerful versions already exist in industrial and research organisations and there is no theoretical limit to how much they can learn.
Some of my colleagues predict that technology will reach the intelligence of an average human (IQ 100) in about 20 years. I think that is a bit optimistic and would put it at more like 50. It WILL happen though..

  4. All the answers here are pretty good. It's definitely a fascinating subject.
Really it would take someone with a degree in Engineering to answer it
    properly though.

What I always found fascinating though would be a comparison of how the
Pyramids in Mexico were made compared to the ones in Egypt.
It's also really interesting that two geographically remote, and
distant from each other cultures both
had pyramids. Could it be that the ancient Aztec/Incas originally came from Egypt?

It is the difference between having thousands of people milling around getting in each other's way and an organised army of people all knowing what they are doing. The latter is likely to be far more efficient - multiple times more.

  5. It depends on which culture somebody is from when writing about the history of the world. Somebody from China would probably place their culture at the center of things.

Somebody from a Latin American country would probably place Spain at the center of it all. It's all relevant as to who is writing it.

Of course one should be objective when doing this. If one was to pick a cultural

center from the 20th century it wouldn't be far fetched to pick WEstern culture

(i.e London and New York etc.)

It seems that in history and culture science Western culture is considered to be the centre of the world. All emphasis is put on the achievements of Western society. The start of this topic seems to spread this idea too.

    http://forums.xisto.com/topic/40185-why-did-the-roman-empire-fall-the-reasons-for-its-decline-and-fall/page-3

The idea is that Europe was the known world. The history of Europe is important, if not the most important.

This results in a big influence of the ancient Greek philosophy and ideas about the way politics and the state should be organized. It results for instance in the opinion, that democraty is the best way to give influence to the people about the government of the state.

It can be discussed, that the history of about 5.000 years of continuing culture of China has its own influence and importancy too. And the same can be said about India, Asia, Japan, South-America and Africa. But the results of the societies in other parts of the world and other continents seem to be of less interest in Western societies and Western science. It seems that the benefits of other cultures are neglected.

It can be argued that a balanced view of the world needs to take in account the results of the cultures and the societies outside Europe and North-America too.

  6. I've gotten used to the new Google image search. I haven't looked yetto see if there is away to adjust the size of the image when you do a mouseover though.Right now I wish they were slightly bigger when using this mouseover. Overall though, the new Google image search is pretty good. One doesn'thave to always visit the page to get a better look at the image.

  7. Really, there is no proper form of artificial intelligence. The only 'artificial intelligence' is purely man made.Humans obviously built the plastic molds and microchipsthat make up a computer, and humans programmed it's knowledge. The term artificial intelligence is a contradiction.I guess one could use the tem 'phony inteligence; because thereis no intelligence proper that emits from a lousy little computer box. It's all man made. Theoretically a dog, even a worm is much smarter. They can do things on their own without any help from mankind, and were alsocreated without any help from mankind. Theoretically , a hammer or a saw is just as intelligent as acomputer. Perhaps the term applied usefullness should be used rather than intelligence.

  8. It would definitely be a good idea to make some aspects of Education free. Those where instructors aren't necessarily needed and one could do all the studying, and downloading of study documents online. I think if people had this opportunity then many would take advantage of it.Myself, I wouldn't want to get in debt for going to school again. I was in debt for yearsbecause of a student loan and certainly don't need that feeling again.Been there, done that. Free education I would definitely consider though.

  9. I think it's a ridiculous idea to remove the letter Z from the alphabet.

If we're going to do that then why not just remove the letter C or K?

If we chamged the pronunciation a little bit we could probably also do without the letter U. Replace that with O all the time.

Not only that but think of all the great literature it would affect.

Everything from Shakespeare to Dickens to Rowling.

And to think they actually wasted time studying this idea.

NOW WHAT!!! deleting the letter Z from the English alphabet!!! what a crazy idea is this. i don't know what kind of authority that this ELCC have but it really could take such a huge step.

to me, i think it is completely nonsense. i like the letter Z in english, where is the wrong if british english is different from american english ??

just a week ago, i read a topic about this book "The American Spelling Book" by Noah Websterhow and how English brought to America by British and how Americans change it through years to become "American English" not only " English". if they start unifying American English and British English they will never end. and finally, we will get Will Smith talking like Mr. Bean Posted Image

don't get me wrong here, i have nothing against British i do love all kind of languages. i like England and how British talk and i like Mr. Bean movies Posted Image but i do believe that every language and every accent in a certain language has its special characteristics. and i don't like anyone mess with this.

nowadays, in every country we can see there are more than one accent in the same language. in some way it gives uniqueness for a certain people. for example, in France, all french talk french language but the accent different from people who live in pairs to people who live in province. in my country, people who live in cities talk differently from people who live in country side. everyone have its special characteristics.

the funny thing they mentioned is that, they will replace every word contains Z with X or S depending on its spelling, and here is what we'll get:

    - zero becomes xero.

    - zoo becomes xoo.

    - visualize becomes visualise.

    - analyze becomes analyse.

sounds funny to me. anyway, this is my opinion, what about yours??

  10. In the old days people worked for necessity. These days they work for surplus. For a bigger house or better car, but what happens more often it seems, is that they workfor someone else s surplus. A new yacht for a CEO for example. In the old days people would more work for themselves rather than anybody else. The Industrial revolution changed all that. We've become much more uptight and materiallyoriented. What can one say but that it truly is a rat race.

  11. That's pretty creepy! What a complete wacko this guy is.
It wouldn't hurt to report him though. I think someone like that
just might continue trying to take advantage of people until he succeeds.
There's some sickos in the world unfortunately.

I've been on a BBS for a few years now and everything has been cool up until a couple of days ago. This guy, who I don't even know- I don't think we've ever even been in the same thread- sent me pictures of himself and... parts of himself. And then he asked for me to send him some of me!
"I want proof that you're really a girl", he said. :D

So I wrote back to him and said that I wasn't a girl, but a fake account of the most annoying guy on the board. I hope that worked!

  12. Yes indeed some of them are completely ridiculous, although I think that some of them
are impossible to read the first time on purpose. It's just the way they build them.

I think one day I'll build one of these Captcha's myself that will be based on either colours and symbols rather than words. The important thing is they stop spam bots.
A little inconvenience now saves a lot of inconvenience later.

You have great ideas in theory but they really wouldn't work out. A direct example is the bot for Microsoft's game site where you win prizes. It comes up with captchas of dogs and cats. There are two ways it's been cracked:
    1) Someone analyzed thousands of dogs and cats to find the most common distinguishers between them and created a program to go bit by bit and analyze the picture to determine which ones are dogs and cats. It has a 98% success rate

    2) Someone else created a bot that takes all the pictures you get, waits for you to submit your guesses, reads which ones were right/wrong, and submits them all to a database. With 10k+ people using this the database was full with every possibility within 3 days and now it has a 100% success rate as all answers are known.

Both of these work automated with no user input now.

The truth is that no matter what people can make, someone else can crack it. It's just how technology works. That's why I don't see the point in trying to delay the inevitable. It's a waste of time (yours and the users'), effort, and money to try and stop it.

  13. I'd say to just roll with all the problems. After all, what won't kill you makes you stronger. Facing the sickness and death that you have will make you spiritually stronger in the long run.

So long as your web site is up and running and still able to communicate with people is the important thing. Forget about the flashy graphics, Besides those are things that

can often slow your page down loading.

I wasn't really looking for sympathy, but thanx sheepdog.

My real problem at this point is what to do about my site. I am participating on this forum to get the free hosting, but I don't use anything in the "basic package" except the disk space for my domain and sub-domains. All the other stuff is beyond my comprehension. I don't even use the mailboxes. I have been trying to comprehend what the Xisto Network Sites are all about and am confused. I am currently only using a total of 133.59 mb of disk space for all my domains. Does anybody have any better solution than paying for all the stuff I don't even use?

  14. If certain people I know in real life hadn't mentioned him, then I wouldn't
even know who he was. I've never heard his music before. Chances
are he won't be around for long anyway.
Some new kid star will come around in a year or two to replace him and he will dissappear into obscurity.

I wouldn't say that he doesn't have a singing talent. He has lots of talent but you will find people (including me) who don't like his singing style. However, I believe most of the haters come from bandwagon. I actually think his songs are pretty catchy but I could only listen to them through covers from people.
From the looks of it, it seems as if Justin Bieber has way more haters than fans. If you look at his "Baby" music video on YouTube, you will find that there are more dislikes than likes. If it weren't for the girls having "Bieber Fever", he wouldn't be where he is today.

Truthfully, I think that people like Alex Goot and Sam Tsui deserve much more than they do now. These people are the people who have real talent and should get signed.

  15. While the musdic industry is very greedy, selfish and self serving

I don't think it could be called Satanic, although many would debate that.

Many songs have appeared to have backwards messages merely by coincidence.

"Strawberry fields forever" by the Beatles, and "Stairway to heaven" by Led Zeppelin

    are two such examples.

I think it is a music industry evil that artists now purposely include

backwards messages in their music mainly to increase publicity and increase sales.

It is a gimmick really and a popular one. That's what the music industry is about though.

    First sales, then music.

A long time ago we all have been witnesses of one rare phenomenon that happen when you play a popular song in reverse mode. This has been investigated and at the end all the evidence marks that the singers or maybe the producers of some popular songs in the music business use subliminal messages hidden in the songs. In the latin music business there are a lot of cases and all of them is proven the subliminal messages containing some satanic messages when they are play in reverse mode. For example in the popular mexican group named RBD there is a popular song named "Salvame" which popularity raises all the standards in mexico and latin america. Two years later, accidentaly in Chile some music students played the song in reverse mode and the discover was scaring. The song had a lot of subliminal messages:

    1. The phrase "Salvame del olvido" in reverse mode said "El diablo me lleva" translate to English "The devil is taking me away"

    2. The phrase "Amor es la palabra" in reverse mode said "Matar a Jesus" translate to English "Kill Jesus"

This was a great impact for the group and the producers but they deny all the acusations about satanic messages in their songs and suddenly six months later the group announced their separation forever.

This is only one case. They are a lot of artist people in the latin american business like Ricky Martin and Shakira who are linked with the use of subliminal messages in their songs and their videos.

But one of the most famous cases was the spanish group named the "Chicas Ketchup" or daugther of the tomatoe. They made a popular song that was the first in all the top 10 named "Asereje". The song was the number 1 in all Latin America and Spain and get a great place in some countries where the spanish is not a famous language like China and Japan. Eigth months later, the news revealed the mean of the chorus which contained tongue-twister. The catolic church call to all the religious people to burn the Cd´s and eliminate the song from the radios.

All the accusations was like following:

The song start with a boy named "Diego"(in some spain beliefs the name of the devil)who was a gitan party boy.

The song continue narrating Diego adventures where he get in to "Donde mas no cabe un alma"(Where else can not be a soul) understood like the hell that is full of souls.

Then de DJ in the discotec who see Diego play "el himno de las doce" (the anthem of the twelve)understood like midnigth when the devil returns to the hell.

Then the song chorus start with the following tongue-twister:

"Asereje ja de jede, de jebe tu re jebere sebiunouba majabi dan de jebere de buididipi"

Translated to the English all the song chorus in the reverse mode mean of the tongue-twister is like following:

"Making Christian heretics, to the delight of the evil angel and the cross of Calvary to make us pee"

All this charges against the group forced to its members to the separation. The group try to back to the music business but all the songs dont have the attention which Asereje has.

This phenomenon is really strange and some academics say that everything is used by the music producers to cause some addiction to the songs who listen one song can stop to listen to it all day long. The rock groups and the pop stars have some cases, too.

But there is more strange case. There is a singer in Puerto Rico named Don Omar who wrote one song named "El señor de la noche" (The lord of the nigth).

The story narrated in the song is like below.

The lord of the nigth is a human being, half-person, half-animal who have a lot of money and one nigth he go to a party where he gives to all the girls money and dancing he conquers to all the ladies. He kill to all the men who try to steal some of his women. He is in the discotec and the ligth is low and everybody in one second notes that he is half-animal from the navel down and all go crazy and he take three crazy ladies to pass the nigth with them.

The song have some satanic messages without need to play it in the reverse mode. But the strange is this: In almost 10 countries including mine, Honduras, there is one story about this lord of night. It looks to be real.

For example in 1999 in a honduras city named La Ceiba like witnesses said: "one handsome guy who said he was the spain prince, was all day long in one mall trowing to the air 500 lempiras bills($25 dollars which is a lot of money to be giving in my country)and a lot of ladies were behind him all day long. In the nigth he took the ladies to a famous nigth club and started to dance with them. Later at the twelve o´clock in the nigth, he trow a 500 lempiras bill to his feet and one lady went down to take the bill. In that instant the ligths in all the city turn off for 15 seconds and in the darkness in the nigth club everybody hear like a horse running with the particular sound, when the ligts turn on the girls who took the 500 lempiras bill saw his legs and the legs was of a horse. In that instant the ligths turn off again and the misterious never will be seen again. The girls suffered a nervous shock and was translated to the hospital where she died two daya later."

This narration is truth and you can found it in google like "el diablo en La Ceiba".

All this type of sublimal messages and strage songs could be evidence of satanic control in the music industry??? :( :( :(

  16. You know, there are some article submission websites where any of the submitted articles
are allowed to copied and pasted into other websites. I don't remember the names of any of these websites, but if you enter "article submission websites" into google,
then you can find some of them. Just use the most viewed articles on whatever
    subject you desire.

    This is true.
Also, if you do want to quote things just quote very small sections and ensure they are *in quotes*. This will help show that you are not the original author (as a writer I personally get very angry about people who take others' work without giving them proper credit).

  17. Willpower obviously means being able to control one's impulses.
Easier said than done though. If some of us weren't so impulsive
    it would be allright.
Maybe will power can be learned.I Have shown traces of it in the past,
    but defenitly need to improve.

yup, will power is present in every human being, but is the hardest thing to control and use to our advantage because humans are insecure and they doubt even themselves. they say that if you believe you will be rich, then you will be, if you believe you are ugly, then people will see you as ugly, because you will exude the aura of what you feel and believe in, you attract negative or positive energies, depending on what you aim to do or will to do and what you truly feel and believe.

  18. I thought it was an okay world cup. The last match was very intense,if low scoring. I knew that Netherlands would lose when one of their players illegaly kicked the ball into Spain's net. That seemed toset off bad karma. You don't deserve to win if you do that. I think the next world cup is in Brazil. That means it will probably be won by them or the Argentinians.

  19. That's pretty good!

is there such a placewhere i can see
    where my troubles are none
    and where i'm totally free

    is there such a place
where the truth can be told
    no lies or deceptions
    and someplace not so cold

i am in search of a place
    that will welcome me forever
that will guide me and lead me
    in life's painful endeavor

i am in search of a place
    where i can survive
where my mind and soul can breath
where my happy thoughts can thrive

  20. This is a major issue for your site, before you lose all your visitors contact the Xisto team or more importantly OpaQue and PM your details and Xisto Account Information and he should arrange something similar to The Simpleton's site to get it up and running :)

It shouldn't of come down to this . This Opaque has shown a complete *BLEEP*ing lack of consideration.
    Quite clearly he's a *BLEEP*ing knobhead.

I've told them at Compuhost I'm quitting anyway. You trust in this OpaQue and what happens?
Theres no time for me to get funds into the Compuhost account now.
First time I was ever under 2 dollars(
although if the Mycents were updated I'd have enough).

All considered, it's not worth paying in real money now anyway. Not after this.

  21. My account is suspend and I am waiting for mycents to be updated before I can reinstein my account. Meanwhile, I am making posts and hoping that it will be up soon. But so far, nothing is moving and my website remain unavailable.

That's pretty bad. Not only that but it shows "Account suspended" rather than just a page unavailable.
    Pretty lackluster.
I've built forums myself and it shouldn't take this long for a few tweaks.

  22. As I replied in another post, I just got frustrated for being unable to post properly, and for not being able to read about updates because the pages were loading really, really slowly. I just think email notification before hand to members about important upgrades might be a good thing.

  23. That's true. It's almost like they roll some dice to predict the weather. It's often inaccurate. There are a few high profile weather websites that are also really bad.One of them telling you the current local temperature is 18 degrees outside when it's actually 8 degrees.
