  1. Java 6 has not done too much to improve the JIT implementations IMO, they have now completely removed the memory management from the user's hands. JVM handles everything now. And I think a few more features like navigable sets, maps have been introduced. I feel they are more concerned with what the new changes will do to the existing legacy code which is limiting them to quite a large extent.Coming back to your arguments I think we have summed up years worth of debate on the very topic...Ultimately the verdict should be - use the language you are more comfortable with and you will get better results. Programming skills count more than the programming skills and proper implementation of concepts is what is more important.
  2. ha ha!!I never though I will find too many people whi have read that book as well.:)I was quite amused after reading the description and thought why not!!!!!People conceive that book to be a manual for seducing women and in most ways it is...but I believe it points out a number of do's and don't for me and gives us numerous self improvement tips. It will definitely try and make you more comfortable with the opposite sex.Just use it as a good read, In short a good book but nothing extraordinary.
  3. Just rent out a few flicks..I find movies a great way of relieving boredom and they make time go by real quick too. Invite a few friends over and it will be even better.:)Grab some popcorn, hang up your boots and turn a movie on - always works for me. And if the movie matter is inspiring I start getting all kinds of ideas in my mind on how to further get rid of my boredom.
  4. Some of you are quite intense with your workouts!!!.....I just run daily and exercise using a push ups and surya namaskar routine that I have had ever since I can remember....In fact I have never been to a gym in my life. I prefer playing some sport to working out.:)But seriously if you guys follow your workouts, it can't be anything but good. The important thing is trying to push yourself just a little bit more.

    Sleep

Sleeping has never been a problem for me....I generally am enough tired after a day's routine.I just reach my pillow and voila!!! Instant sleep.:)It is waking up that is the trouble for me...especially after experiencing a jetlag or changing sleep habits...
  6. I am afraid of dying but I dont' fear death. If that didnt make sense to you let me clarify. I have led a very happy life with occasional troubles that everyone faces at some point of their lives. I am in love and care deeply about a number of people in my life. I am quite concerned about how they will deal with my departure. I have dealt with personal loss and understand that sooner or later everyone will move on but just the thought of them going through grief makes me despise death. Besides I still believe I want to do a number of things before i finally pass on including obtaining certain moderate accolades that I have set for myself. I know I am quite selfish in all my reasons but that is how I am.:)So I am not worried if death will be painful or it will come to me anytime soon. I just feel life is so much more wonderful....
  7. WOW!!Detailed and well explained. I must say this is a brilliant explaination and a most descriptive thread.I think i have given it a thorough read and find it much better than most books that are available on the subject.Kudos!!!!
  8. I just find it funny that the dude who is so happy with his so called "best webhost" has to come here to post.:)I came to Xisto because of its reputation and though the forum posting is a bit irritating to some it is actually a lot of fun.:)Anyways not going off topic, based on the various reviews above I would be scared to try it out.
  9. Occasionally java gives better results with respcet to speed but i still feel based on JIT implementations and structure that JVM performs with, there is a reduction in speed to a certain extent. People are tempted to believe that because of high organization java will give them more speed, i agree but java is slow not bacause of design but the JIT implementations. So as long as you use a single class computation java will be on par with c++ wrt speed. I will provide you with an excellent article on this topic: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I would still say C++ is more of a mid level language.bah!! it is not really important:P I have worked quite a lot with COBOL as well in mainframes, compared to that anything is low level:D
  10. I am shocked and disappointed that VLC is not not in the list as a media player. It consumes very less resources and plays almost anything and everything.I have used plenty of softwares over the years like BS player and still occasionally use windows media player( i love it as well) but VLC is the king amongst all for meFor music i definitely like winamp classic still - I am too used to it to move onto anything else. More like a habitual situation in this case.:)A media player is not supposed to have burning, ripping options as most of you suggested, i use other softwares for those features.
  11. Amongst the popular ones i think nod32 is very good. Norton will come a close second for me.Then come mcafee, avg and the others. Then there are also zonealarm, trend and quite frankly many more.:)The important thing is to stay from cracked softwares and especially cracked antivirus. The most stupid and dangerous thing one can do is to get a cracked antivirus.
  12. lolI tried it out, easier than i expected...it wasnt too rubbery and it didnt rise much. Did i do something wrong? The taste seems ok though- maybe a little less sugar but a decent results...
  13. guys you are going of topic here.:)I saw the first movie before reading the books. Quite frankly i found the movie irritating and decided to check the book out - to realize the hype that was harry potter.Let me tell you one thing whether you like the harry potter books or not Rowling is one of the most imaginative, innovative and brilliant authors I have read. Considering the age group she writes for she has maintained the sophistication to a minimum. The description of the universe she created it wonderful and appealing. I must say the universe had me in wraps when i started reading the books. Though the movies always disappointed me, the books always managed to pique my interest. There is a certain picture you create in your mind when you read the books, the movies never lived up to my imagination though they were restricted by time always.I do not follow the millions of fanfictions that people follow but I will surely catch any other pieces of fiction that woman creates.
  14. Thanks for the reply. The system seems accurate as I have already earned my first dollar.:)This is more fun than i had imagined. Thanks for the instructions as well.
  15. Down in the subcontinent, soccer is limited mainly to the metropolitan cities and maybe a few other cities in particular. The local leagues are not so popular but the leagues in europe especially the EPL and the european champions league is followed with zeal in the major cities.Football(american) however is almost non -exsitent here - they do not broadcast the playoffs - Can you imagine that????In fact I am most worried every year about missing the all start games of the nba as well....Cricket dominates the subcontinent. It is played at every nook and corner and followed by a vast majority of the population. It is almost a religion. If you feel the english and brazilians are passionate about soccer you should come for a one-day or 20-20 game in here. Soccer though dominant in some parts is surely not a king or queen of sports..Just my opinion - I play soccer myself and am quite handy so I do not want any soccer fans jumping at me for refuting the claim.
