well, actually the problem was already kind of solved until an, excuse my french, ignorant head of state decided that the money for it could be used more destructive: As you pointed out, New Orleans is almost completely built on grounds lower than sea level. To stop water from the sea flowing into the city, dykes were built all along the coast (just like in the Netherlands, where almost all of the country is below sea level). Unfortunately, the earth below the dykes is very wet and can't hold the *person*'s weight, so the *person* slowly sinks down. Therefore it has to be renewed every, or at least every other year - this was supposed to be done last year but then the funds were taken from *person* repairing to the Department of Homeland Security and the war against Iraq. Given that the war on Iraq is already somewhat expensive for the US, I can not understand why someone decided that the US can't afford to spend 745 million dollars over a couple of years on an effective homeland protection when the war against Iraq consumes that much within a few days. Last year, the army engineer in charge of the *person* project, Al Naomi, said about the budget cuts "I can not tell exactly what this will mean when we get a heavy storm during the hurricane season but I can tell you that we'd make a better stand with intact dykes." (1) ok, so the government ordered to evacuate the city days before the storm arrived but: People were simply ordered to leave and did not receive any support from those who were supposed to protect them, therefore the poor people amongst the city's population were unable to leave due to the costs. Yes, I've used quite a lot of marihuana until a couple of months ago, I've even raised my own plant. It can be a really great feeling to be totally stoned and look at something like flashing lights ... but as most of you might understand, I've noticed that I began to abuse my weed tea and gave my plant to a friend of mine, and the best thing: She fully supports my decision to reduce my weed usage drastically and promised to keep an eye on the amount of weed I take from her to make up for the plant ... and just to make sure that I'm still in control of my mind and body I'll try three weed-free months from September 1st to December 31st and we'll see whether I drop the weed completely or have a new year's tea with her ;)I suppose it'll end up like my drinking habits - only on special occasions [which happen less than once a month] =)

well ... I didn't get arrested yet, even though I was supposed to a couple of times now or at least I think so because we're usually moving in a group of 4 or 5 and therefore noone of us is sure who's supposed to be arrested) - we learn: Fast feet are made for running, not for kicking cops I suppose they've got me on tape but they haven't been able to identify me yet (those were for nothing serious, just "trespassing" because me and some other people refused to clear a road for a hand full of people surrounded by hundreds of riot cops but the traffic would've been blocked anyway...)I could've gotten some UAD citations but fortunately they just send you home in Germany instead of arresting you...

peaktao: you're after too much work, 4-5 hours wok everyday are more than enough though I have to admit that I like being productive in my free time, it's just that I don't produce large enough quantities to sell stuff and after all, I don't even want to sell stuff 'cause I'm just making stuff for me and some friends of mine...In the last couple of months, my sleeping habits have changed dramatically - a few months ago, when I was still in school, I didn't go to bed until 2 or 3am and had to get up at 6. You can imagine how my performance in school was but for some reason I felt great after school......nowadays I go to bed when I feel tired (I've managed to make this be about 1am) and you might not believe it but I usually wake up 2 or 3 minutes before my alarm clock rings (8:37 am). Simply doubling the amount of sleep I have everyday increased my energy a lot, I've even stopped taking caffeine

yeah, paintball's so combat...B-T: you should think about whether you really want to gain real life combat experience since it's not that funny anymore when your health depends on how well you do. Paintball is safe, very safe, if you and your mates don't do anything more stupid than shooting paint at each other (like taking off the glasses and stuff).I've been in some places where some people thought they'd have to get in trouble with the police (for a cause which I believe in, too, but with means I do not support). Yes, the adrenaline rush feels great but it's not that great to be in a non-violent mass which is being attacked with water, gloved fists, steel-plated boots, batons, rubber bullets and chemical weapons just because a few people think it's fun to throw bottles at cops. Luckily I always got out of those situations without being seriously injured yet (yep, better to run fast than being in the riot cops' way), but others were not that lucky or even risked being injured by holding their place...

That our current government decided to legalise gay marriages was, IMHO, one of the few (very few) good things what they've done since they received the power. To answer your question: Would I be bad if I didn't want to be near someone who is an Asian? well, I respect everyone's origin but couldn't you just all stay where you've come from? don't worry, in ancient Greece, homosexual relationships were widely accepted (at least among males, I don't know about any documented lesbian relationship in those times) ... can't have been too wrong since the Greek didn't cease to exist due to lack of children but for some lost wars - but even though their empire has been smashed, they're still commonly known as one of the founding people of today's "western" culture... ----- btw, I did not vote yet because I didn't understand the question's meaning -- in which kind of way I'm supposed to [or not to] "believe in homophobia", does "yes" mean I believe it exists, does it mean I am homophob, ...? anyways, I consider myself to be quite liberal and since I'm part of some groups which are considered "strange" by an overwhelming part of society, it would be kind of suicide to close my mind for other people who are not "normal". But even though I drink it rarely, I've always got a bottle of Vodka or something alike around 'cause it's a great desinfectant in small portions (soak a piece of cloth with it and clean the area around the cut; my personal experience is a better healing process than when I clean it with water...)

I didn't have to go to youth court (neither as accused nor as victim nor as witness) yet, even though my record of misdeeds is long enough for many, many hours of community service (though I could face a prison sentence for some of the things I've done if I'd get an unfair judge)......but don't bother asking, I'm not as stupid as shouting out in public what major offences I've participated in, I can just tell you I'm happy and lucky about the fact that I'm trying to stick to the laws since a couple of months (some people I know got busted about two months ago but since I didn't have contact to them for about a year now; didn't face a cop since then and didn't hear that someone's looking for me, I feel quite safe )...
