  1. All I can do is agree. You said it all, and literally stole the words out of my mouth. Excellent advice.
  2. See, the thing I've seen that has been prevalent throughout this, is talking about STAYING in love every waking moment. That's not it. Feelings are like water. Ever-changing, ever flowing.Just because you might fight, and you suddenly feel like "Oh Christ. Just make him go away.", doesn't mean you don't love him. I feel that way about my guy sometimes, but I don't think I've ever loved anyone more than I love him. It's just in the heat in the moment. Sometimes even, I'll stay mad for awhile. It doesn't mean I hate him. It just means I need to deal with the more prevalent emotion of anger or frustration. And it took me awhile to realize that's what it is. Not that I don't love him. Just that I don't WANT to, and that moment, because I need to be angry. It took me awhile to realize it, but it took me even longer to accept it.A very good song (I only say that because how it relates to this situation) is, "I Just Wanna Be Mad", by Terri Clark. I understand how most don't like country, but I think a lot of people can relate to the lyrics. And take it from me...just because there may be moments where you just want him to go away, or when you don't have the butterflies every waking moment, doesn't mean you don't love him. And chances are, if you break up with him, you'll feel exactly how much you'll miss him. I made that mistake twice, with this one guy I'm still with. And I know he feels the same way sometimes. Even if what we bicker over isn't simply small stuff (which it usually is..along with really, really stupid stuff). But after all of that... now I realize, I wouldn't trade him in for the world.
  3. I completely agree with Archangel. You need time to explore, without worrying about the limitations society has set upon us for being who we are. Just be. We owe it to ourselves to be who we are. Because only through that, can we love ourselves. And we can only love another, when we know how to love the person within us.I am gay, and when I first came out and was asked what I thought of anal sex, I said the same thing. It made me shudder. Now, this may differ for you entirely, but I, myself, upon exploring my sexuality, and finding out which one I was (as I was confused as much as you were at one point) I found myself starting to answer the question. I was gay. And eventually, the sex thing just passed.Even now, I sometimes find myself questionning because I'll still find some girls attractive. But that's recognizing the beauty of a human being. Everyone can. Guys can tell when another guy is hot or sexy, but are too afraid to say so. They just show it in jealousy and fights, when a more attractive man hits on their girlfriend. Because they have no worries when an ugly one does.Alas, it's up to you to explore and find your own path. You owe it to yourself. Not to anyone else, and don't let them tell you any differently.
  4. I personally believe tons of illnesses can be cured simply with believing they can be.Call it magic, call it mind over matter, call it what you will. But I personally believe that as long as you believe what you're doing is going to help cure or allieviate symptoms or illness, then it will. We, as humans, only use 10% of our brain. Have you ever wondered what we can do if we even used 5% more? Perhaps enough to control our T-cells, and subconciously tell them where to go, and what to do. There is so much about our own bodies that we have yet to understand. There is even tons of DNA that we have no idea what it does, so we consider it dead. Or garbage. But simply for the reason that we have yet to explain WHY it's there.Personally, I'm amazed by how some of these techniques work. Even doctors today know that if someone comes in complaining of sickness, they can prescribe a simple medication (such as simple Ibuprofen), and make the patient think that it's something else for some form of sickness, and within days the patient is better, simply because they believed without a doubt that the pills were making them better. Coincidence? Hard to say, but I don't think so. There's a reason why people who are fighting terminal illness, have a better chance of surviving when they have a positive outlook.I may not totally believe in Harry Potter magic, but I do believe that "Magick" (as it is properly spelled), is just a word of saying "If you believe something can happen, your mind will make it so."
  5. You don't need to LISTEN when you drive, only look? Whoever taught you that, really needs to go back to driving school.Listening is as important as looking. For the SIMPLE fact that you might be focused on the car ahead of you, while the car behind you hits a patch of black ice, and starts swerving and honking at you to warn you they have lost control. If you have the blaring music in your car, you're not going to hear the honking, and they have a higher chance of crashing right into you. It's not like you're going to magically see them, especially if you happen to look back in your rear view mirror, but they just happened to swerve out of view of it at that time. You also need to be listening for ambulances, and other emergency vehicles. Yes, they have flashing lights. But in the middle of daylight, with a hundred other cars around you on the freeway, those lights don't help much. It's the sirens. And if you are just blaring your music to the point of nearly-blowing out your eardrums, you're not going to hear them."You don't need to listen when you drive."Yes, you do. And you need to crawl out from under that naive rock you're under.
  6. Poison Ivy, first and foremost, isn't contagious. People seem to believe it is. It isn't. The only time that it is, is if multiple people touched the same plant, or touched an object which doesn't absorb oil, but touched the plant (ex: some shoes). If you know you've been in contact with poison ivy, it's advised for you to cleanse the exposed areas with rubbing alcohol within 10-15 minutes. Then wash yourself with JUST water. Soap will cause the oil to spread further across your skin, and actually make it worse. After that, you can THEN wash yourself with soap and warm water. After doing that, it's advised that you put some gloves on, and wash anything else that might have been exposed to the oil of the plant.---------------------------------------------------If you can't make it back in time to wash, or you just didn't even notice you had been exposed (like I did, when I was shooting a short film for school, and I laid bareback, in shorts, in a huge patch of poison oak), grab some calamine lotion from your drugstore. Go home, take a warm shower, and give yourself a good scrubbing with soap. Remember, it's okay to do this now, as the oil has already been absorbed into your skin and can't spread. Afterwards, apply the calamine lotion to help cool the exposed areas, and reduce itching. It's also a good idea to thoroughly rinse the item you watched yourself with, just in case some trace amounts of oil got on it, but this generally won't happen. The idea of a cold compress will also help, as the cooling action reduces the itchy feeling. There are also some over-the-counter lotions that have hydrocortisones in them, which will help reverse the poison ivy. This can be used for small rashes. If the rash is large, or is on the face, genitals, covers more than 30% of the body, or persists after 1-2 weeks of home-based treatment (using lotions, etc) go see a physician. They will almost always give you a prescription for oral cortisones, or sometimes an injection if the case is truly severe, which will eliminate the poison ivy anywhere within a 1-3 week period.
  7. Well, a lot of us don't have air tight rooms, nor the microbiological equipment (or time) to test it all. However, Neem tree is much like the Tea Tree. I have been using tea tree essential oil as a disinfectant for cuts, for oral use (must be mixed properly with water), and for rooms (also mixed with water). Tea tree has been found to work as well as rubbing alcohol and peroxide, with the main difference being it doesn't destroy our body cells. Tea tree, because it's natural, and because it's an oil, our skin actually ABSORBS it, rather than repel it as it does with rubbing alcohol and peroxide. Which, especially in the case of infected cuts, means faster healing time, as it can get into where the infection sits, and kill it.I have never personally tried Neem, but I think I may very well give it a shot. For us in the Western culture, I highly recommend picking up a small bottle of Tea Tree essential oil, as I know it's easy to come by, especially in holistic medicine shops. You can also mix it with water and spray in the air, to kill germs and bacteria, and also for general cleaning such as disinfecting counters. It's also one of the only two essential oils that can be used neat on the skin (as in, it doesn't need to be diluted to be applied), the other being lavender. Only in oral use, and in spray use, does it need to be diluted. So, give it a try. In the meantime, I'm going to keep an eye out for Neem...
  8. Well, of course it takes a certain degree of training and concentration to be able to work on chakras. You need to be able to visualize them and feel them, before actually being able to work on and with them. However, that's not to say doing so early will completely and utter kill you. Your chakras are part of YOU. It's like moving a finger to build it's strength after an accident. You move it little by little, until it has it's full ability to move again. The same can be applied to chakras. You can work with them little by little, and slowly build their strength. They aren't just going to break if you focus a little on them. But in order to focus, you need some form of concentration, which can only be truly obtained by practicing meditation on a daily (or near-daily) basis.Don't be petrified that just because you're inexperienced, that you can't work with them. Just don't expect a whole lot. Work on them little by little. Because, in actuality, denying yourself the ability to work on them in essences, closes the chakras up and blocks them. If you subconciously tell yourself you're not "experienced" enough to work with them, they'll close up. Are you not "experienced" enough to move that sprained finger? Of course not. You can move that finger all you want, to a point where your body tells you not to: through pain.So if you want to work on your chakras a little bit, feel free to. If it starts to just "not feel right", scale back a little. The energy inside you will tell you what's too much, and what's not enough. But in order to feel that energy, I do recommend that you work a bit on meditation first, and read some articles on how to begin to feel that energy. The energy that makes up everything in this world, and that we are all connected to.
  9. I can't say I have any fear of death.Perhaps it's because I've accepted the fact that everything happens for a reason; my death being one of them. I don't know when, how, or why it'll happen, but it will. And I guess it really comes down to the phrase (with several other wordings): "If you fear death all your life...are you truly living?"If you spend too much time brooding over when your time is going to be, then you're obviously not making the most of your life now. I feel better knowing that my time spent here was put forth in making this world a better place for those who have yet to experience life. And that in death, I'll be able to feel (if we truly do feel in death), that my life was completed. Fulfilled. Worthwhile living. And that I can start a new phase.I'm not sure what that "phase" is. Perhaps it's another life, going along with reincarnation. Perhaps it's "up above", or the several variations thereof. But all I want to know until then, is that this phase was spent making everything as good as I could make them.
  10. Actually, there is a lot of solid evidence. The problem occurs when science fails to explain it.And this gas thing, is a total crock. Ghosts can be seen travelling up to miles away from their actual burial spot, and moving. Not just a floating image, but an actual moving human being. Which puts that whole "gas" theory to crap.As for the solid evidence.... There was one experiment done where Japanese scientists created a totally controlled environment, with a man on his deathbed inside. After his death, there was weight missing that could not be accounted for. Do our souls exist, and have weight?Souls are believed to be plasma energy. In haunted areas, these "orbs" can be seen floating around. Most are refractions of light bouncing off particles (most commonly dust), but some can't be explained. There have also been recorded videos (by respected scientific laboratories) of a small orb leaving a person's body anytime between the time of their death, to three days later. The same orbs that can be seen in photos and videos of supposedly "haunted" areas.Another interesting thing to listen to are EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomena). These are recordings done in haunted areas, where upon playback ONLY (and usually only when the recording device is set to record certain frequencies), a voice or mysterious sound can be heard on the tape. Now, a lot of people attribute this to the recording device picking up radio signals. Which, COULD be true, but is HIGHLY unlikely, especially in remote locations. What makes it totally irrelevant, is that some of these voices actually reply to questions asked by the "investigators" (for lack of a better term). Just do a basic search on EVPs, and you'll see what I mean.I know a lot of people can say "People just made these". That could very well be true. But having my own experience in recording an EVP (it was actually through a camcorder), I'm more inclined to believe in the phenomena when I hear it. It's definitely one of those "See/hear it to believe it.".Furthermore, to list off this "solid evidence", let's point out a few more things that happens within haunted areas throughout the world:- Electronic disturbances (radios, and even just an increase in electro-fields in the area which are measured using scientific equipment)- Moving objects- Drastic, unexplainable changes in temperature- Human-life form heat signatures becoming visible using heat detection equipment- Psychics (most unconnected, and all never informed of any information on the area to reduce the chance of variable, unusable scientific statistics) repeating back the exact same feelings/visions/impressions that the last psychic explained.- Regular people who never heard of anything unusual happening in the area, seeing the exact same ghost or ghosts as people before them. Again, without any former knowledge whatsoever (usually tourists passing through).- Strange smells (often reflective of perfumes/colognes the deceased wore, scents of their favorite things such as flowers or cigars) emanating from various rooms at specific times. There are others, but none that I can think of right now. But, really...do a search or two on Google. There are plenty of respected scientific organizations sites that show what they have found. I suggest you read up on them. If only for a good, interesting read.My last suggestion would be to visit a place that's known to be haunted. And have regular occurances. Not just once a year. But near-daily, so you have a much better chance of actually experiencing something.
  11. Just a quick post to throw out there. I respect everyone's beliefs and opinions, so do not take me as someone attempting to bash anything. I'm simply attempting to open a mind or two. First of all, when this topic is brought up, the Bible is always used in defense. Particularly, the Leviticus verses. That being, said, let me throw this verse at you: That's referring to priests. They may not shave their head, or shave the corner of their beard, or (essentially) cut themselves. The last part aside, don't you think that's a little....extreme. And I'm not sure about you, but I have had plenty of bald priests who shave their heads on a regular basis to hide their receeding hairline. But I don't see anyone holding up signs, saying they are going to burn in hell. Or better yet" So, basically...we should kill any child who who curses his/her mother or father. If we still followed this, there'd be millions of children dead. In fact, I think the last 150+ generations or so would have ceased to exist. Shouldn't we try at least, locking the child in his/her room, or grounding them or even spanking, before slitting their throats? You can't just pick and choose what to believe out of the Bible, or use one verse in your defence, when there are countless others in that same chapter alone that we don't follow. Such as eating "things that swim in the ocean, and do not have scales". According to the Bible, aquatic specimens such as shrimp, crabs, lobster, etc, are a sin to eat. But, I don't see Fred Phelps standing outside of Red Lobster or Swiss Chalet, screaming at families that they are going to burn in hell for eternity. So why should I take Leviticus 20:13 any more seriously? That aside, I'm a homosexual. I am in love with another man. And if being in love, and showing acceptance and open mindedness in such a hateful world is a crime I'll burn in hell for, then so be it. I still put forth good things. I have a family whom I love, I have friends who come to me for support, and I live as close to the Jesus-image, as I can. So, if all of my work towards being a good, productive, loving person is going to crap just because of something I do behind closed doors (which isn't anyone elses business, by the way), then why should I believe in such a hateful God, and live for him, when I won't be justly rewarded because I was being the person he created? I don't. I live for me. I live for my friends. I live for the people I love. And I live to make this world a better place. Just because I am in love with another man does not make my work any less meaningful. So, if I'm going to burn in hell for that still, then this "all-forgiving" God, doesn't deserve my love. Besides; if God is a man...I'm not supposed to love other men. So, why should I love him? People, think with your hearts. Not with what society, or what a book has taught you. Love is love. It knows no limits. Even in nature, homosexuality can be observed. If homosexuality truly is a choice (which it wasn't for me), then obviously humans aren't that different from animals. Because if it's so unnatural, animals need to have a conscience and free will to choose to be homosexual. But the fact that homosexuality is throughout the animal kingdom as a whole, should prove something. It is natural. Because so is love. And if someone is going to deny love....if someone is going to deny open-mindedness...if someone is going to deny acceptance...... Then I think they are more of a sinner than any homosexual, witch, parental curser, or lobster eater combined.
  12. I don't think that one way is better than the other, especially if one is referring to religious beliefs. In my opinion, believing in something like Jesus isn't going to get you any closer and faster to enlightenment than believing in something like fairies. And vice versa. It all depends on the person, how open minded they are, how willing they are to allow themselves to become spiritual, and more involved, etc..I mean, as nice as it would be to have something that would fast-track us to spiritual enlightenment, I think it just requires effort. People are so lazy these days, and are always looking for an easy way out. Just look at a magazine "Lose 50 pounds in a month!"...or "Forget working out; just take these pills!".The last one is a bit of a stretch, but you get my drift. It just takes time, and a willingness to be open and willing to taking the time to become more connected to your spiritual "self".
  13. It all requires simple meditation, really. There is no spell or incantation, or fast way to do it. It's easy, but it takes time. You need to take the time needed to meditate and completely clear your mind of all thoughts. When you have reached that state (if you have any questions on how to do it, there are plenty of well written articles on achieving a meditative, calm, state), you simply need to focus on a particular chakra (we'll use the root chakra first), and imagine it as a ball of energy. The color of it will depend on the chakra itself. The root chakra is typically associated with a deep red. Imagine the ball small, but then slowly growing bigger and bigger. I usually let it grow until it's about the size of the palm of my hand. Then, just imagine it blossoming. Imagine the energy reaching out and touching things in front of you. Let it's energy flow through your body; get accustumed to how it feels. Then, bring everything back into the chakra itself, but imagine it still as a large ball. "Tell" it to stay open, and be receptive. Move on to the next chakra, and repeat the process. This will open up each chakra in time. Just working with them in general opens them up dramatically. But start with the root, and work your way up. Just because the third eye, or crown, may sound more appealing in what they offer than the root, it is essential that you begin with the root and work your way up. An excellent site that also describes the use of hand gestures, and sounds to open them, can be located at the following: https://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/open.php
