  1. Does this really work internationally? I'm not from America/UK/wherever you guys are. I'm gonna try anyway, thanks!
  2. Personally, I think this movie is very good. I went to the cinema to watch it with my friends. The plot is good but not original. I mean, it basically revolves around a sole survivor in the midst of a city against all those mutated human. Sounds familiar with Resident Evil. But the novelty here is that the good doctor didn't wanna leave. He chose to stay because he thought he could cure the disease. Unlike Resident Evil where the main characters only want to escape and prevent being eaten, Dr. Neville faced those demons with courage and even captured them to conduct experiments.Central to this novelty is the way the camera and cinematography is handled. It exudes a sense of loneliness, horror and despair not found in other movies. For this, the movie is a huge success because audience really feels for the main character and gets immersed into the horrifying experience. My friends were stunned and speechless after the movie because it really gripped them tightly and plays with their minds. What I really like about the movie is the way subtle messages are conveyed. At the end, Dr. Neville decided to sacrifice himself. He didn't believe there was a God and he was in despair. At the end, he said that he's 'listening', which means he's giving up everything to God. Quite a message to get across to our world, eh? Shows that in the end, when all else fails, all we could do is trust in the Lord.I'd recommend this movie to anyone, though many of my classmates got emotional after the movie and said they dislike it.
  3. Thanks a lot for the input. That sounds like a hell lot of difficult coding process. Sounds a wee bit advanced for me, cause I'm so new to all these database thing. Anyway, thanks again!
  4. Thanks for the input. That was hugely helpful to me.One more noobie question: I'm using phpBB now, so for my new forum, can I switch to other forums like IPB of vBulletin without changing the content/posts/members inside my forum? As in, use a different forum without altering anything inside my original forum. It's kinda impossible in my opinion, but not sure what others might think. Just want to get an opinion.
  5. Okay, so I suppose if I want to host a pretty large forum, I need to get a dedicated web host. Sounds like a lot of work. Anyhow, thanks for all the information shared here. Really appreciate it. I have another question. Suppose my forum is at the domain myforum.info . Later on, I decide to get that forum to a new domain, myforum.com at another new hosting company. How do I do this? I figured I'll need to install the forum at the new host, so do I then backup my forum's database at the old host and move that into the new host? How about the domain name? How does that work then?
  6. Yeah, typically the database size is often less than 50MB in my experience. And most of the hosting companies don't even mention their database space. As to the 'overflow' technique, well I just thought there might be a trick to do it. Turns out I'm wrong. Anyway, what's the point of exporting a SQL database and importing it into another one if the database capacity is the same? Unless I find another host with bigger database space capacity. But then how could the huge forums like Digital Point and Xisto host their forum if the membership space is so huge? I guess their hosting is unlimited huh.
  7. Two thumbs up! I clap my hands and bow to whoever that author is. I really liked the way she/he defends people with higher intelligence capabilities. :oAnyhoo, in my school (we call it secondary school) nerds aren't really treated like the way they are in the Western countries, say, the US, because nerds get respected here, albeit only by some. I'm not really a nerd but I'm among the top in my class so naturally people see me as the clever boy who excels at academic stuff but I SUCK at relationships with girls. Everybody knows I fall heads over heels over this charming girl for over 2 years and what they say about me really made me sad and angry. So in a way I think they don't confront nerds or make big headlines/statements about them, they just try to find whatever the nerds' weaknesses/mistakes are and backstab them. That's the way it works in my school.People from other classes (scoring less in academic performance) also views my friends, the top students, as some sort of weirdos that talk weird and act weird. Some even loathe me. See, we go to this popular tuition school and my essay keeps selected as model essay and naturally people know me as the clever boy whose essays are top-notch. Yet this earns me dislike, not surprisingly, from guys from other schools.See, in our education system, academic performance is very much emphasised and everything is exam oriented. Yet this changes the way people treats us.
  8. Aww how sweet. Young love is so innocent. wish you luck then. Hope everything works out fine and nice.My experience? Well I don't have any experience at all. Suffice to say I've been in love with this girl for the past 2 years but can't do anything about it because she's in a relationship with this other guy. Well I'm not a nerd or geek but I'm among the top in my class so I guess that turns people off.OH WELL. Being smart has its downside.
  9. Okay, I have a forum which is growing daily. Even though members aren't that many, I'm still concerned over my database space and its capacity to hold the forum's content. Since post counts take up database space, the remaining space will decrease daily, albeit by little amounts. Still, it will decrease anyway and eventually my database for that forum will run out of space. My question is:1. Is there any way to possibly create a new database to continue holding the old database's increasing data? As in, my old database is there but its full and I create a new one to hold the incoming new data although my forum is the same and keeps growing daily.2. Why do hosting services and companies never said anything about their MySQL database size? 3. How much is database space is needed to host a moderate size forum with, say, 1000 members?4. What is the typical database size offered by hosting companies?I know these questions sound weird, but I just have a burning desire to learn everything.

How could you get so many referrals? Did you advertise yourselves? How did you do it? I always have trouble getting referrals since I don't know the method of spreading the word and making people sign up under me. Please share any knowledge you know, it might help me and a lot of people.
  11. Well, I know the feeling when you realised you're in a dream and decides to snap out of it. Yet, there are scary moments when I know I want to open my eyes but I simply can't. No matter how hard I try my eyelids stay shut. That's when I started panic, and sometimes I stopped breathing and panic even more. When all things seem to get out of control, suddenly my eyelids would pop open and a heavy weight seems lifted off my chest. Kinda like exorcism, minus the poltergeist or something. LOL but it is scary.Sometimes I know I'm dreaming and said in my brain " I'm dreaming, this isn't real " but then I keep on dreaming anyway. There are other instances when I dreamed about bad stuff and woke up crying. o.O
  12. Well my site is a forum where I gather all my ex classmates from my secondary school. Its a handy hangout place to catch up on each other since our secondary school is over (secondary school is like high school) so everybody's leaving for college and stuff. I just launched the forum a couple of days ago and now we only have 20 members but then again the forum is non-profit and it exists for the benefit of my friends. I just need to resolve the problem of maintenance and costs. The forum's domain is free courtesy of http://co.cc/ and hosting is free too, from Freehostia. I'm just afraid it might run out of space since the database space is limited and only 1 MySQL database is allowed.
  13. How much space does Xisto offer for MySQL database in terms of MB?I need to know because I intend to host a forum for my classmates and it will be a gathering place for us. We are all ex students of a school so the forum will be a handy hangout place to get info and status about each other, since we're all seperated now. So, the forum takes up 150KB in my database and its increasing daily due to increasing number of posts and members. The day will come when it hits the 12 MB database space my current free host offers. So, any input or help is very much appreciated, thank you.
  14. Anyone heard of this? They're a very famous PTC site that pays 1 cent per click with 30 seconds of ads. Usually, I get around 15 ads to click per day. That translates to 0.15$ everyday. In ten days I can get 1.50$, so simple calculation is that in a month I could get 4.50$, assuming I click actively everyday. That's just for being an active, normal member. Premium members earn a lot more. They pay you 1 cent for every ad your referral clicks. I've got 3 referrals and they are active so I get quite a few cents from them. I reached payout a couple of days ago, now anticipating the payment. Just as a sidenote, many people said they're scams but I think that's because they don't receive the payment. Bux.to usually needs 2 months to process payments. Bux.to has over 2 million members now, and the advertisers keep advertising on their site due to the huge traffic. That's why ad count is increasing compared to a few months ago where I get less than 10 ads to click daily. Check it out at http://buxgroup.to/bux/ . If you're interested to join, show your appreciation and type in ian_byc as referrer. It's up to you to be a Good Samaritan or not. Lol, thank you anyways..
  15. Doesn't this count as advertising if that site is yours? :oAnyway, there are loads of other money making sites loaded with tips. In fact, some people start a blog just like that to advertise their own referral link. Not that its unethical but with the competition heating up, its not really worth it unless you do it as a hobby. The site is okay. Layout is fine, might wanna do a bit of decorating though.
  16. I'm not from US but I heard about MIT. Its definitely one of the top institute of technology in the world with prestigious accreditations and reputation. I heard a lot about it. Read an article about students from MIT who participated in various competitions and such. If you want to go for it, do it! It's well worth the investment in my opinion. Nowhere better to learn computer than the top tech inst. in the world.
  17. The list is mainly vegetables and fruits, so I guess its good for your health. Anyway, our bodies don't digest veges or fruits because they mainly consists of cellulose, so we only extract the vitamins and water. My theory is that the body uses energy to extract those useful stuff since the fibres can't be absorbed. Anyhow, its a good list to have, thanks for sharing.
  18. Can you explain how it works here? I'm interested to know, eager to lose some weight..
  19. Well if you read it carefully you would've noticed that I said photolysis produces hydrogen and oxygen. therefore the hydrogen comes from water. Water is almost a renewable resource on Earth now. Plus, photosynthesis produces water as product.Like I said, if chloroplast structure is modified, it can produce MORE hydrogen atoms so that dark reaction in photsynthesis only utilises the hydrogen required while the extra hydrogen produced is filtered and funneled outside. Of course, you'll need a lot of these green cells but then do remember that a tiny leaf can already have thousands if not millions of chloroplasts. The green panels I mentioned are basically mechanical leaves to trap sunlight and convert water to its elements.
  20. Anybody ever wondered about this?Green plants undergo photosynthesis to produce oxygen. In the process, water is splitted through photolysis and this results in production of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atoms. The oxygen is released, and hydrogen combined with carbon dioxide to form carbohydrate. My idea is to trap the hydrogen before it is used up and funnel it to a storage tank, which then can be burnt to generate electricity. Theoretically, this could be done but then tiny nanoscopic devices will need to be integrated into the photosynthetic cells itself. The cells will then be supported by external nutrient agar so that it won't die by lack of food. With advances in biotechnology now, its not possible to genetically create a living cell with modified chloroplasts structure so that it produces more hydrogen when exposed to light. The downside is that the green cells won't photosynthesise anymore since carbon dioxide isn't used. But then again if advances in biotechnology makes it possible to modify the chloroplasts structure further, then the green cells will be perpetually growing and self-sustaining. The only resource needed is oxygen, which is a by product of photosynthesis itself, water, which we have in plenty, and carbon dioxide, which we have so much that we don't know what to do with it.The green cells then only needs to be put outside in direct sunlight. These green panels sort of work like solar panels, with the tubes connected on a molecular level to channel trapped hydrogen to a integrated power generating station. Or they could be used like fuel cells now, with the green panels on roofs of cars and a mini combustion engine that uses hydrogen as engines. Or they could be put up on roofs of recharging stations when electric cars are used in the future. Possibilities are endless.Of course, for this to even happen, we need advanced knowledge in nanotechnology and biotechnology.I dunno if this idea even makes sense or not. Just an idea.
  21. Perpetual motion DOES create electricity, but its just not feasible. In physics, there is a concept saying that energy cannot be created or destroyed. The same principle works in generators and governs the Faraday's Law and Lenz Law: Lenz Law states that the production of electricity through means of cutting a magnetic flux with a conductor will produce a magnetic field opposing the force producing it. Which means, suppose we do have a conductor of some sort cutting Earth's magnetic field to generate electricity, the space generator itself will produce opposing magnetic flux which will make it spin out of control, unless you have some sort of device to counter the magnetic effect.Secondly, space is not totally empty. It is vacuum but there are tiny microscopic energy particles that can collide with the generator and thus slow it down, damage the equipment etc. Satellites have special coating to protect the innards so they're not really damaged, but in the case of our 'generator' here, exposure to space is needed so theoretically its impossible to protect the equipments. Its a good idea in itself, but there are major hurdles to overcome.
  22. Spot on, mate. Its just that the world has more ignorant people and selfish people than people who are seeking to do good. Sad, isn't it?
  23. You guys rawk. Talented. Incredible manipulation of Photoshop techniques. Coolcat's work seems glossy, but st michael's show more depth and detail.
  24. This really made me laugh. Increasing proof that there's no such thing as global warming? Recent UN Convention on Climate Change, look it up. Scientists are teaming up to tackle global warming, and it appalls me that there are still ignorant, apparently 'educated' people who tries to deny the truth. The heating and cooling cycles? Let me enlighten you that they exist, BUT this heating cycle happens WAY faster than the normal pattern, which means there's something wrong and obviously human intervention has something to do with it. The temperature couldn't possibly rise that much in that short period of time. This would make future generations far more superior that they're not human anymore. They would be a bunch of kind, smiling harmless beings. Eventually human could be wiped out. Prove me wrong that human evolution doesn't involve greed and envy. In fact, these two elements help shape human and determine the way we are now. Even though that two attribute is harmful, we couldn't live without it for no one is perfect. Yeah this is possible, and then humanity will once again be torn by war among the three big alliances. I quite agree with this. Everything depends on oil now, so unless another energy alternative is found, the world is still dominated by this black gold. Of course, I don't side with anybody. I believe human can overcome any problems - they always do. The human spirit is indomitable - we're like cockroaches, annoying and hard to exterminate. Eventually a new source of energy will be found when oil runs out. Global warming? It might be a scientific lingo to scare people, but my advice is, do heed it. At least care for your future generations. Western civilisations have indeed reached their pinnacle and a majority of people's mentality is the 'entertain me' attitude. New plasma and LCD TVs literally pop up every 4 weeks or so. Look out for the Eastern rise: China, India and South East Asia. They're underdeveloped now, which means plenty of room to grow. Just my two cents.
  25. This is utmost ridicule. Lol its funny in a sick way, because many of the so-called FAQs can easily be contradicted or proven wrong by simple scientific facts.
