Hope it lives up to the hype, loved Kotor 1 and 2, just hope this lives up to the standard, anyone played it? does it live up to the hype? And Forza Motorsport, would really want to get it if anyone can tell me if its worth the scores I've been seeing round the net. Cheers Big Ears!

Open source is software made for Non-profit, so its free, and if you was a developer you could look at the source code and tinker with it, closed-source is the opposite, developers don't allow you to look at their source code, and it isn't likely to be free, e.g Linux = open source, Windows = Closed Source!

Longhorn's Avalon Under Windows Xp Is that true??
brokebloke replied to adriantc's topic in Software
Its just a new way of doing user interfaces, the options there but whether developers use it is up to them, sort of like flash for the web, good to have more options for the user interface, you can already download betas of avalon and practice developing interfaces with it, can't wait to see what people do with it -
Favorite Xbox Game Vote for your favorite Xbox Game

Pro Evolution Soccer 4, football gaming at its finest, the best multiplayer fun you can have, I have fun with shooters like Halo 2 and all, but nothing gets me more excited than scoring a world class goal , or watching your friends face as you score, it gets me more passionate than any game I've ever played, just wish I could one day play it online -
I would go back 10+ years, buy loads of shares in Microsoft, Google, bet on France to win the world cup, stay out of bad investments I have already made, stop gambling, and have a rich and wealthy life , its nice to dream :)or maybe the 60s when the women were more up for it!

Hiya guys,Just wondering, does anybody know what cache is and how to implement it say for something like wordpress, would it be really useful, i.e cacheing sql queries so theres a lot less stress on the Xisto servers, for instance, if you only update your site once a day, does cache work by saving that query and only updating once per day (or whatever you set), so the visitors to your site don't automatically keep making new sql queries but is already cached, I've looked around on google, has anybody here got any experience, would be really helpful, thx.

Firefox Or Internet Explorer that is the question...
brokebloke replied to Judman's topic in The Internet
Firefox is great, one other good thing about it is pages with CSS look proper compared to IE at the moment, a good example is if you go here :- http://http://meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/complexspiral/demo.html and watch how the transparent blocks of text works flawlessly and then compare that page in Internet Explorer -
I am currently learning C++ and QT, I'm just wondering how many of your guys develop for windows specifically for do you target mac and linux too, or are you developing games? Most important is the uptake of the .Net framework, just how many people are developing for it, is it really as big / important as everyone on the net suggests?Would love to hear everyones views!

Its definately easier to use, I tried out Linux a while back and had such a headache messing about with the fonts, not sure it compares today but back then, it took alot of work to get screen fonts to look sharp and crisp, I took XP and windows for granted, they make life so easy we forget stuff like there font technology and ease of use, mind you though, this easeness comes at a price (vulnerability), my linux box always felt secure!

Hi all,I currently learning C++ and the .net framework, .net is MS big next thing when it comes to connecting web services e.g client apps and web apps communicating with each other via SOAP / XML, I've been reading alot about the technology and it looks like its going to take over in a big way, I'm writing this here at team17 as I think we have enough of a wide audience to take an important poll (in the eyes of developers and users), I'm thinking of whether to develop my next app in this framework or stick to the original framework each having their pro's and cons.I'm just wondering how many of you guys know about the .net framework, do you care about it? are you developing for it? do you have it installed? do you find it annoying to have to install the framework as an extra for the software to work? (e.g like the java virtual machine for java programs), This would help me and many greatly as we can see just how important .net applications are.Whats your views?
