Thanks (G)fometeo !Gmail Notifier Keeps Asking Me Password Upon Each RebootI realize this is a very old thread but I just wanted to thank (G)fometeo on the odd chance you still frequent these forums.The problem is easily explained by saying that gmail notifier uses IE for its authentication so If you use Firefox or Chrome your copy of IE never gets logged in to gmail.It's a shame the notifier doesn't hook into the default browser for authentication rather than being forced to use IE. I get the exact symptoms as you,.and especially in the early hours in the morning around 4:00 AM. Even if you cover your ears you will hear it since this is a low frequency wave. Due to the 3G+ and 4G wireless products entering the markets like smart phones and I pads,..the signal emissions have been upgraded on the Mobile Base Station Networks from analog to modulated pulsed transmissions. I live 60 meters away from a Mobile Base station,..and hear those high pitched frequencies continuously. They go through peak hours and peak levels such as early morning disturbing the sleep and creating thirst, creating headaches, ear aches, and even toothaches at the jaw. And Guess what, this is in Cairo Egypt. Why you in America, might hear these high pitched frequencies years before us in Egypt,.is since technologies reach Egypt a few years after. But I can definitely vouch that these high pitched E and Hiss noise are electromagnetic and microwave frequencies from a Base Station in close proximity to you.

I see alot of people complaining about their "private" school tuition. Why should the Gov shell out ANY money for you to go to a non-federal "private" school? The gov has no stake in a "private" school...therefore are not going to pay much if anything. The economy is all screwed up in large part because of technology. We have been riding a huge economic wave(thats a good thing) created by the end of WW2. 100's of thousands of soldiers came home from WW2 with money to spend and were not afraid to work. That wave ran out a long time ago but the gov didnt want to "let down" the people and have been going to extreme measures in a vain attempt to keep it going. Technology killed the job market...who needs employees if i can program a computer to do the same thing...without breaks..without a retirement plan. If you are actually willing to pay for your kids tuition at a private school to be a vocalist or some other ridiculous thing..then go ahead. But i can tell you now...the gov...and most American people could care less how good they can sing or how much they want it. Learn a skill or trade that we can't live without. There are three that come to mind..military, medical and law enforcement. We have never lived in a world without these. Always had someone to fight for us, always had someone to fix us and always had someone to keep the peace.(always had prostitutes also...but please dont go that far). It is OUR kids that will fix this mess...if we train them to do it. Teach them to work hard, sweat a little and make a difference. Stop telling them to go to college, get a degree...so they can sit on their butt's and make tons of money...cause you're way isnt working..it's making things worse. When the American economy takes a real nosedive and modern infrastructure fails...i'd love to be a fly on the wall when little junior or Sally realize the only thing they know how to do is sit at a computer or sing!

I would just like to inform you all about trafficzap.com. While it is true, I used their service for a few months, they do provide you with some traffic back to your site (not sure if its exactly what they say 2:1 ratio, maybe a little less) but the real concern about trafficzap is that some of their pop up ads distribute a HIGH virus warnings in which I had to do several scans in a day to detect and elimate them. Please, please everyone, stay away from TRAFFICZAP.COM.

Perl vs PHPPerl Vs PhpAll programming languages have strengths and weaknesses. Much depends on what type of problem you are solving. I have been working with Perl since 1998 and picked up PHP in 2008. The backend ETL for my database was done in Perl(5.10.1) due to the enormous parsing required. The front-end was done in PHP 5.3 due to my desire to learn PHP. Both PHP and Perl are being called through AJAX functions.Here are some of comments:1. Perl is a very easy language to learn. With 3 half-hour sessions, my 12 year old nephew picked up the language and has been writing little snippets of code. 8 weeks later he has figured out how to use VIM as an editor, downloaded Perl/Tk, uses PPM, and is running. Granted, he is not your average 12 year old. He lives in another town and we communicate through phone and email. Sure the kid had a strong desire to learn. But he did not see Perl as formidable. Sure, Perl allows you to write to very cryptic code but you do not need to write one liners.2:Comming from a C/C++ background, Perl seemed to very much like C with the added power of the UNIX AWK language. For me it seemed a natural transition. My early misgivings was no support for multi-dimensional arrays but once you understand pointers, this is a non-issue. And no serious programing or complex data structures can be realized without a knowledge of pointers. And I with memory dynamic allocation, who needs to worry about malloc(), alloc(), and dealloc(). The other annoyance was the lack of a switch statement which was eventually added in Perl 5.10 in 2008.3. For automation work, Perl is amazing. Arrays can be manipulated as both stacks and shift-registers. Hashes (associative arrays) just make everything possible. And of course, Perl is the Mother of All Languages when it comes to Regular Expressions. And I love that fact that I differentiate scalars, arrays, and hashes by the $,@, and % prefixes.4. Perl supports modular programming. My ETL backend program for my database has loaded with no problems some 100 Million Records from factory testing in the last 3 years. The application consists of some 25 modules and 5,000 lines of code.5. No large programming effort can be under taken without having a strict mode for variable declaration. PHP does not seem to have a straight forward way of doing this. Starting with Perl 5.12, strict mode is now the default.6. The interface to MySQL via Perl or PHP seems to be equally easy. If PHP can run web applications faster, then that would be a factor. But I do not know if this is the case.7. The CPAN library is amazing. I have used it for Networking, DBI, Tk, EXCEL, and many other needs.8. A company called ActiveState has a DevKit application that will wrap you r application in an executable. So I can simply ship my executable to different factories without worrying about whether or not that machine has Perl and the right libraries loaded on them.9. While I am not a PHP expert, it seems somewhat similar to Perl. Though using Regular Expressions in PHP is somewhat annoying compared to the ease and power of Regexes in Perl.10. While PHP does allow mixing PHP within HTML code, this is somewhat gone with AJAX and Web 2.0. JQuery and Javascript have now pushed all code out of HTML. Behaviour is controlled through classes and ids tied to callback functions. While this could have been an advantage in the past, writing code like this means you are still living in Web 1.0.11. Object-Oriented Programming is supported in Perl. I have used it in one application. But having done OO in C++, it is probably somewhat of an afterthought. Most of applications are not of an OO nature so that does not bother me.In a nutshell, one seems to stick with a language that he/she is proficient in as long as it does the job well. Some thoughts from personal experiences in my past life. Long story short - free work is good for you For me there has been no free work that one should regret, that has not been god for self development. From EVS to extra steps with clients. It's all good not only for skills, experience, contacts & fun that comes with many free work places but also it contributes something that we call - human. Try to find out what are you singing up for.Warn about tasks/hours that you can not work with. Sometimes you might feel used but the one who give work also put hes/her trust on you. Make sure to ask questions if you would like to know upfront about what are you getting in to, can you leave when you want, is there some extra benefits/restrictions from them, no reason to lie. If you afraid asker would not understand your answer then warn about it before. "Well, i would be clad to answer to this question but I have slight .... that we might understand the meaning of this differently" You know, like some drugs usage might tick someone off who do not have boarder understanding about substance or is just lacking will to accept other's ways in life. This does not mean you should do things on work that are not allowed and getting yourself (or others) in to trouble. There might be some that still uses cheap or free work for selfish reasons but how long will they last and is there really something that does not benefit you? Maybe it's win-win situation. Some might try to manipulate, trick or force someone to work free using even tools that are close to ones heart. In these case you should not just letting the boss & company know what you think (first your supervisor, then boss, then company, then workers - if no good reasons comes back to you) but also make some public awareness in locations where people can debate about it and share their experiences. Also take in consideration that we might feel like this but others - might not. Do not leave things like that unnoticed - sometimes boss even has no idea how badly some things work for someone. Help them, help others if possible, if reasonable. This was some thoughts about wide aria of situations that we might come across on our life path, sooner or later.
