Ignore this guy; he has no idea what he's talking about. You can't "accidentally" make a virus by typing into notepad and setting it to a different file type. Notepad is NOT a programming language. You can use it to write a program, but it is not a language itself and I definitely recommend you just use one of the express editions. 3ds Max and Maya aren't some plugins to make your game 3d either. You can create 3d models with them and animate them for use in an already made engine, whether it be one you made or a commercial engine. As for DirectX, I'm pretty sure that can't be used as a modeling program... Gilbert you probably shouldn't comment on things you don't even understand. -reply by Justin712

The Problem With Vista's Parental Controls
iGuest replied to Ronel's topic in Websites and Web Designing
parental controlThe Problem With Vista's Parental ControlsI feel sooo stupid. I was playing around with the Parental Controls on my Windows Vista. I put in a password but I was really super sleepy and was falling asleep at the computer. the next day I could NOT remember the password, no matter how hard I tried. I feel so stupid because I was just playing around and I don't even have any kids or anything. Now it won't let me go into Web Shots and I really like getting those, sometimes every single day. Can you help me to get around that stupid Parental Control password? Pretty please?? -question by juniorspunky -

Who HASN'T!? I mean, the only time you wouldn't is if you ended a horrible, horrible relationship. And even there you still get hurt. My advice? Tell her you made a mistake. Tell her your true feelings. Do be warned they may not be returned (I know THAT feeling) but try as hard as you can to stay friends.-reply by Abby

EU all the wayThe Next World Super Power?I personally believe its going to be the EU, lets look at all previous superpowers/Empires shall we? The Roman Empire, grew lazy after many years, when a threat occurred they spent countless amounts of Gold recruiting soldiers making the majority of the lower to middles class populations suffer with heavy taxing to fund this new bread army, why did they face a threat? They lost influence and forsaken their neighbors, the 'Barbarians'. In the end they lost the western Empire due to these lower-middles class people turning their back on the Roman council and letting the 'Barbarians' in to conquer castles. Now with the oversized army and not enough funds to support it, the Roman empire and influence finally slowly started to crumble away into History. The British Empire now, greatest one in History, 1/4 the size of the world with 1/3 of total population of Earth under its direct control. Near the end Britain lost it due to its extremely (yet again) oversized army and after a little financial crisis (WW2) they could't support it, espeacilly after forming the commonwealth with no foreign income coming in, and yet again resorted to heavy taxing untill the Army was brought under considerable size, but out of the frying pan into the fire, Britain lost economic dominance and influence. Now, the USA, it's already happening, History repeating itself yet AGAIN (no one learns do they?), US has already lost influence in the world, just how it happened to the British, GODDAMN BIAST PROPAGANDA, that hacks slowly at a countries reputation bashing its influence, now they are losing economic superpower (well already have), China are demanding a new world currency to take the market which is expected to be the Euro, USA also happen to be in severe (and I mean SEVERE) debt to China, $14 trillion last time I checked, and now with all this going on Obama is making cutbacks to the military, the only thing US has left to clutch onto superpower status. Now (drum roll please...) the ? EU ?, the only thing the EU is doing different from all other countries is that its not ridicoulsy increasing it's military size, no. But instead are shifting to a new approach, an approach which produces a weapon more greater than any superweapon made, this weapon is called Influence. The EU are steadily rising in influence in the world, with more countries joining with Iceland being the latest making the EU now consistof 28 countries, don't forget that some of the countries in the EU have some of the worlds best economies, many of these countries now operate under the Euro ?, the countries are coming together slowly, the rise of a 'superstate Europe' is inevitable, more people are seeing the benefits as time goes on. The EU is already the world's biggest player in the world market, it's up and coming, many people seem to mis-read over Europe as they believe nothing significant is happening, well thats just the surface they look at, do some digging about whats happening and you will be quite surprised. Its just a waiting game now for Europe. -reply by kyle

I don't know how people are getting such long startup times for Firefox, since I don't presume to know what you're running. But I can attest that for the life of me, Firefox has never taken more than a few seconds to start up, and I've been using it since pre v1.0.Perhaps reiterating some obvious points that I use, and a rough description of my setup can be helpful...First off:To the guy with a lot of fonts... Having too many fonts installed will slow down your computer in general, not just firefox.About firefox taking "5 minutes" or any outlandish number to start:There are many reasons this can happen. Common sense really, but can be easily overlooked. * too many extensions and themes* too many simultaneous tabs as a homepage, * the homepages are themselves, heavy. (overuse of flash, web apps etc.)* installed a useless flash game* have many useless toolbars* have many plugins installed that are hardly of use* have issues with Java Runtime* have kids who've been using their computer with admin access to system directories, and a love for games. * also, there are many who aren't aware that Windows loads its GUI before many of its services to make it (appear) to boot fast. I've seen this happen many times. The user will subsequently start Firefox before their computer is even done booting, and wonder why it takes so long to start up the browser.(The list goes on and on)Naturally, "too many" of anything depends on system hardware and configurations. For a basis for comparison:I'm running Pentium 4 2ghz single core, 1.5 GB 400mhz DDR, double harddrive (1 for apps & OS, 1 for storage and pagefile), evga 7600GT with 512mb DDR2 AGP8x videocard, on Windows XP. (old but not ancient, still kicking system). I stayed away from Vista like the plague. My ffox initial startup is a few seconds on average even after updates. We're talking 2-4 seconds at the very MOST.I have one custom theme (not all themes are created equal; some are heavier and/or buggier than others), and a modest set of extensions that include only:Adblock PlusDownloadHelperEvernote WebClipperFoxyProxyNoScriptNote that Adblock Plus and NoScript may actually speed the appearance of load times since it blocks advertisements and various scripts from loading. It can also make it appear to start up slower since some pages will go nuts if it can't load up a given advertisement; e.G. - it will never be "done" loading. I have a custom theme, but installed 1 and only 1. I refrain from using heavy add-ons like FoxTab, etc, since I don't have the computer to run it to my subjective standards. I also use third party applications to make host file additions: these additions don't really do much for speed except reroute potential calls to known bad servers to instead, refer to my loopback address.Spybot Search & Destroy's "Immunity Settings", and SpywareBlaster. In combination with Adblock Plus and NoScript, my web surfing experience is very sane (no ads, unintended flash popups, hijacks, clickjacks, etc). Some people will say NoScript is very intrusive, which it arguably is, since by design it's a whitelist program, but well worth the trouble for me anyway. Finally, my home page is 1 tab: and it goes to google.Com... Very little to start with, & shorter start-up time as a result. If I want to load a set of pages, I'll refer to one of my set of bookmarks and "open all in tabs" after the browser is started. At least my browser is started, with its homepage open, and I will know for certain, any issue I come across isn't an issue with the browser itself. Having too many themes and extensions does a number of things:1) if fox is set that way, it will check for updates for (all) of them at its startup.2) after startup, it'll always have them loaded with firefox, since they are now part of your browser.About the program, "Firefox Preloader": it DOES speed up Firefox startup since it loads the browser to memory since boot, and as a result it lengthens boot time. This is as advertised, and in that respect, it works. It works to the extent that Firefox (now version 3.5.2) starts up faster than a fresh install of IE 8. However, because the Preloader leaves firefox in memory even after closing the browser, you will get occasional issues like what another poster mentioned, titlebars w/no window, not closing properly, minor issues with updates, etc. I'd also like to add, by design it doesn't clear my history upon shutting the browser as I intended in my Firefox settings - e.G. Mail remains logged on even if I close the browser. When using the preloader, I therefore have to Ctrl+Shift+Del to clear everything before closing the browser, to ensure history is gone. (I checked everything in the clear history settings, and Preloader makes it so I still have to key-combo my history away).Off topic, from an end-user standpoint, compared to Firefox, IE 8 has horrible performance opening new tabs in general. That by itself is enough for me not to use IE 8, though accelerators and web slices are good ideas I must admit. -reply by some dude with more than just 2 cents

this might be helpfulWhere To Get Free Itunes Codes?I used to get music from a site called playlist.Com. I just downloaded free music zilla and leeched music from there. Unfortunately that realy isnt a good method and this was before I had installed itunes. I had all the music I downloaded in a folder and clicked open on each song to get itunes to recognize them. But the permissions got changed and I'm to lazy to mess with it so I just deleted zilla. Then I tried searching for redeemable codes for free songs on itunes and keeping track of the single of the week where each week itunes lets out a new song fro free. Searching for free music takes to much time and I don't want to have a membership on anything. Next I downloaded limewire,m the free version, really it works nicely. You just use limewire to search for media content that has been uploaded from other people. Try creating a facebook account and follow itunes, if you do that they give you five free songs I think. There are still many things you can do just look it up. And if you have an ipod touch/phone then you can try jail braking it. If your curious about that then look it up. I hope this was helpful.

You guys...I Hate SmokersYou guys are a bunch of WUSSES! That's nothing, you should try being forced to live with a God danged smoker, I grew up with chain smoking parents, do you have any idea how horrible it is to live in a house where about 50 ciggaretes are smoked on a daily basis? They smoked while they cooked my food, which is disgusting when you think about it because fire uses the air around it to burn, which means I was eating ciggarete flavored BBQ at our cookouts. Did you enjoy your family vacations as a child? Try being trapped in a car with 2 people who light up a ciggarete every 15-20 minutes for more than 5 hours. I cannot stand the smell or the taste either, and if you can't either it doesnt really get better over time, I still feel sick when I have to breath someone's ciggarete smoke, smokers should not be allowed to raise children. I would have been glad to only have to live near smokers instead of trapped with them. -reply by Peanut

That's because, when you're a spy for the other team, they see you wearing the disguise mask. I was playing the first time the other day, and my brother was sort of helping me out to get to know the game. Every time he saw a spy with a mask on he said "That's not a spy, you can see their disguise." But then, out of complete luck (I play the pyro mainly by the way, so they should stay away) a spy on my team with a mask walked by me. I think I was surprised so I lit the torch and surprise, surprise it was an enemy spy. So... I think that's why. Because when you're disguised as the spy, you really have two disguises on. -reply by Nuadin

what is your pit nameThe Earth And Space: We Live Because The Earth LivesThe only reason this is not being looked into more carefully, is based on big-business and what they have to lose. Oil companies and whatnot... They do not want people interested in the environment, not do they themselves want to become interested, so they make environmentalists look like no-good losers, when it is they themselves that are the no-good losers. It's true-I'm sure you've heard the terms so dearly associated with environmentalists, tree-huggers, granola-crunchers, and many other 'clever' remarks, just to slander what these guys are doing, which is a very noble cause. They continue to laugh in the scientists faces when they tell the world about some imment threat to our very existence, because they have the money, they have the power, what cruel fate could befall them?Environmentalist are trying to SAVE THE WORLD, and they have immense numbers of sound scientific research to back them up, yet they are being thrashed around by a small number of small-minded individuals who could care less about the future. Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!
iGuest replied to anwiii's topic in General Discussion
Dish Networks customer (dis)serviceDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!I have Dish Network as part of a bundle with my AT&T service (they're now bundling with DirectTV, and I can see why!) I will admit I paid my bill late, but I did pay it, and all of my AT&T services were restore, then well after office hours for AT&T's billing department, they turned my dish service off. I was unable to negotiate there (un)intelligent voice response system, so I turned to their online chat. After several "allow me 2-3 minutes to access your infomation" that turned out to be more like 5-6, I was told that they could do nothing since AT&T's billing department was closed -- I can understand that, but what I can't understand is why they would wait until the billing department was closed to turn my services off! Everyone, do yourself a favor and avoid Dish at all costs!
