Have you partitioned and reformatted your hard drive before? Maybe you should elaborate on your problem so that it will be easier for others to help you.

Another fact for the bloatness of software, back then Bill Gates was paid by the Kb of the program, I think they've changed that, but they still leave over a lot of unused and undocumented programs and APIs with their Windows distribution that I doubt anyone would ever program for, who here still uses a tape cassette drive to load their programs, I find that's still left over. At least with Linux when they find something obsolete they slowly remove it over time, doesn't mean that you can't put it back in there if you still use it though, you've got everything you need to do that. Still in saying all this, XP does deserve credit, ease of use is quite high, I'm not sure whether it's because the younger generation is brought up on these computers or not, but I taught my grandma, who had no computer experience at all, to use Fedora Core 2 on her new computer I bought her and she's capable of browsing the internet and emailing people with no problems at all and has never had problems with it crashing or not working, although she's not a heavy user. She even understands attachments and what programs would work to open them now. Next thing she'll be telling me of all these neat tricks to do in Fedora Cheers, MC

What Windows browser do you use? What Windows browser do you use?
iGuest replied to xelloss's topic in General Discussion
Well I don't know if it's too late with converting people over to the lightside, you hear all these problems about IE and people believe it's due to being popular and has a wider share, that's why it's hit more (So why are you still with IE?). For one thing, I can tell you that claim is false, why is it hit? Because since MS integrated it into it's OS, it provided people with a better method of attack through your browser, it's not because it's got the market, it's because it's connected to something vital that a lot of people target, and that's the OS, which is where you get hit hard if you ever get exploited. Now you can't remove IE even if you uninstalled it from Windows Components, there's no way to completely remove it. It has to be on your system no matter what, but it doesn't mean you have to run it. I do suggest people do use an alternative browser, but you would find that some sites that run ASP, don't come up on a different browser (I wonder why, who created ASP?) Another thing to get rid of would be Outlook Express. I know some people are afraid of change, and how other browsers look, but you would prefer this over your own security? Especially when an attack through IE can make you fork out money for a technician to fix it. I do suggest you do look at other browsers, and try and get use to using them, it would help you and you won't have to worry about browser hijacking or malicious advertisers. Cheers, MC -
I would like to vote, but there really isn't a 'best' language, it would be biased if I voted as I prefer certain languages as personal preferences and not because it's the best designed language. What should be said is why so and so language is considered good, I believe every language has their purposes and the developers had that in mind too, they were even developed to do similar things that other languages did as well as having improvements. Now I am against some languages, it's kind of like Windows VS. Linux, Windows was made with ease of use in mind while Linux was considered a ground for developers/programmers, there probably wasn't a consideration of other users at that time till recently. That's the same I have against other languages, they have languages that people can develop small to large scale products without knowing much in the programming side, it also helped people develop viruses and trojans much easier, although I do believe these people do have knowledge but they lack the programming side of things (don't quote me on that). Another thing that I don't like is how programs aren't easily portable to other OS, this was purposely designed into those programs by someone I'll just call a GIANT, but that doesn't mean it can't be ported, it does however mean you'd spend quite a while trying to figure it out.ASM, C/C++ would be my choice of language no matter what, I've looked at C# and D Language and still haven't convinced me that I should change, they've addressed known problems but they have taken away some control and I like having full control, even if this opens up potential exploits, at least it'll keep me on my feet.In the dynamic web developing, it'll have to be PHP, because I know Perl and C, this language was easy for me to pick up and it has a lot of well thought out things and it's constantly getting better (and bigger in size). So even if a 'best' language was chosen, it'd be nice to see feedback of why you chose that language. For my choice, it's being in control of every single bit and byte.Cheers, MC

phpBB2 vs IPB Didnt know what forum to put this in
iGuest replied to Troop107-Admin's topic in Software
PhpBB is a better forum for customising, it have a nice design, and you can easyly find some themes.Invision Board is better for a bisness forum, it is better protected from hackers and errors. -
Are you sure that you mean to say , the the protection is so strong that it can be easily broken and allows hackers to pass by... It does not make any sence. Its just like they have made it so hard that it has now become brittle.. hehe J/k. BTW, I am using windows XP SP2 and I find the security thing quite good. It blocks the dangerous ports and protects my PC. And also asks to open specific ports when i try to access something. they have done a nice work.

I believe that Gamespot is a very good selection. It has many things concerning games.
-
Unfortunately, no. Game Maker can't make internet games that are seen through a browser. Game Maker can make internet games that run over a server, like Diablo, or Quake, but nothing like the Arcade games here on Xisto.
-
Well, I hope that isn't the case. Maybe if they are good enough, the members will continue to use them like they do the default ones. So Wassie, do you have any emoticons to request?
-
I was thinking, since I've done this on other boards, I would also like to do this here. I would like to make new emoticons for this message board. I can make them in any style you want me to. If the Admin approves, I could give them to him, and he can replace the old ones with the new ones. Sound fair? I'll also take emoticon requests here. These will be strictly for the board (that is, is the Admin approves.) I just want to contribute something to Xisto.

Can you publish games to a web site? Well, yes. You can upload them to your web server, and offer them for download to other people. You can even sell your games, that is, if your game is high quality.

What is your favorite developer web "kit"
iGuest replied to Troop107-Admin's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Web Developing under Windows I use Mozilla Browser for testing site design, if I'm being generous I may even fix it up for IE (and others if needs be) , If iI'm writing it in PHP, I may have that installed on my system too so I can test locally as well. UltraEdit-32 a plain text/hex editor with lots of useful functions and colour coding. Highly recommended. I use this for all types of programming, and it's good for web desiging (I'm not a WYSIWYG type person, I write everything from scratch). As well as Photoshop 7 and ImageReady, FTP uploading/downloading I use FileZilla or I just use the inbuilt FTP in UltraEdit. I have Dreamweaver MX, but I mainly use it for O'Rielly's References. Cheers, MC -
I think its pretty boring aswell in the actual object of the gamebut I watched a couple games in the olympics and it was pretty funny how the defenders always fights the offensive players lol.But dont you think they look pretty gay with those stupid little helmet ear muff things on thier heads?
