Ok, the command I run:/usr/lib/firefox/firefoxThen, firefox opens up, but closes as usual, and this is the result shown in the terminal:(gecko:5314): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled font, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Verdana 10.798828125'Segmentation fault (core dumped)By the looks of it, this has something to do with me installing Verdana. All I did was copy the Verdana normal, bold, italic and bold italic fonts from Windows, and put them in the font folder on Linux, under a new folder called "verdana". It seemed to be working for everything else, and when I use firefox as root, Verdana fonts appear properly.

HiYes, I'm having another problem with Linux...Ok, my linux Distro is Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) and I'm using GNOME.I'm having a problem with Firefox 2. Whenever I try to use it on my own account (Not the root account), it closes as soon as it opens, and before the home page loads. When I use it as the root user, however, it works fine.It started when I had Firefox 2.0.0.6, that came with Ubuntu. It was working fine, until one time when i started it up, the home page (The Ubuntu welcome page, on the hard drive) was taking ages to load, and then it just closed, with no error message or anything. When I tried starting it up again, it just closed before the page loaded.Last night, I installed Firefox 2.0.0.11 and 3.0 (Gran Paradiso). Firefox 2.0.0.11 still wont work, and has the same problems 2.0.0.6 has. However, Gran Paradiso's working fine, but I don't want to use that, because it's only an alpha release, and has plenty of bugs.I'd had a similar problem on windows before, and I fixed that by deleting the firefox process from the task manager, however, I checked the processes in the system monitor in Ubuntu, and there was no Firefox process.Has anyone had this problem, or knows how to fix it?Also, is it just me, or is Firefox on Linux alot slower than on Windows? I think Gecko is also slightly different, because some of the sizes/fonts weren't appearing properly.

Well I believe what most say are true that crushes are the easiest thing to make disappear but what do you do if the person you love is with someone else and went through the best friend thing and now you both know how you feel and not sure it will change a thing-confused

Is X-Men Possible With Genetic Engineering ?
iGuest replied to Darkwolf11235's topic in Science and Technology
Ok first people might say that it will never be possible for us to alter DNA to end up like magneto of wolverine but I disagree as if you look at some older movies with I don't know spy equipment and other technology not around then people would of said that these things will never be invented but look now mobile phones mp3/4 players things that people thought would never exist Ok a big step from that to DNA modification but stay with me one reason why it may never happen is due to the fact that some people think it is wrong to mess with DNA so you can only guess what will happen if you do, Now my attitude is that there will be some one out there willing to offer them self up if they have the chance to become like wolverine granted you would be left with lots of scares and develop a bone defect with having them covered in metal Adamantium yes it is real and yes it is virtually indestructible but it is a us government classified secret it is not found in nature but is man made but it is not an element as its properties do not qualify it for any known space on the periodic table any way also if it does ever become possible to change DNA to become like an X-man But they were naturally gifted and created not by man playing God which frankly if you can play God I think do it governments would not let just anyone get it done just in case they had an uprising like on X-men they would use it to cure conditions like Multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS or something like that or do the opposite and create a weapon that mutates people in to something like the secretary of defense in the first film or something like that any way I don't actually know if it is possible to change DNA to become like a man made X-man but I think it will be in the future.-rock God -

I have had many problems forwarding embedded images, even those I have received in my Google address inbox. Occasionally, if I save forwarded images as a draft, the images show up. Then again, often the images fail to show up here, as well.Received an interesting email today. Text of message stated "embedded image moved to file: *****.Gif". How this is done would be a good thing to know. Obviously, it works. Google search for information on subject refered me to this page.-tejasbullet

So you want to make lots of money(note members only) go pick lots of flax and sell it for 69gp each at the grand exchanges. If you get 1000 flax and sell it for 69gp each thats a hole 69k all ready. Thats what I do and you'll be surprised how fast you can make lots of money.

... Hmph ...First you should understand the distinction between Modeling (building 3D Geomety), Animating (programing motion in or around the Geometry), and Rendering (generating 2 Dimensional imagery from the Geometry). If you haven't ever used a 3D application before, I would suggest getting your feet wet with something like Google SketchUp. It's free, and a good (albeit extremely limited) software.Modeling.What's best is a loaded question. There are multiple modeling geometry types Polygon Mesh, Triangular Mesh, NURBs, Solid, Paremetrics ...There is software that works best for one or another geometry type, and software that works decently for some or all. Depending on what you will be modeling will help determine the best geometry type and based on that the best modeling software. Most of the time, a modeling software will be part of a package that also includes animation and rendering solutions. The default rendering solutions in most packages are typically either needlessly complicated, sub par in quality and technology, and/or require ridiculous rendering times. After market or plugin rendering packages mitigate this issue. Software such as POV-Ray, V-Ray, Maxwell Render, Renderman, or Brazil are renders. You cannot buy a renderer and do anything with it if you have not already generated a 3D model and/or animation elsewhere (and some of which that are plugins require a software package to attach to). Some of the more popular 3D Packages are Autodesk Maya (Maya is evolved from Alias products, and Alias was since purchased by Autodesk), Autodesk 3D Studio Max, Maxon Cinema 4D, NewTek Lightwave, Softimage XSI, etc. Cinema 4D is likely the least expensive, with 3DS Max the most widespread, and Maya likely the most powerful.Maya is very robust, but has a steep learning curve as previously mentioned. Pixar Renderman is in fact commercially available as a plugin rendering solution for Maya.My standard workflow is modelling in Rhinoceros 3D, Layout and Animation in 3D Studio Max, and rendering in V-Ray. This workflow is the product of years of work and experimenting to get the results and toolsets best for me. If you are just beginning, working with Maya or 3D Studio Max will probably give you more than enough to keep you busy for some time.Autodesk provides a personal learning edition of Maya for free download on their website. So if Pixar is what you want, and you are committed enough to learn, I would suggest downloading Maya and toiling away.

Einstein Quiz Can you solve this problem?
iGuest replied to doctor's topic in Science and Technology
I don't think it is as easy as everyone says it is. Anyone with an iq higher than grapefruit can tell you the obvious answer once worked out. But when the green house is said to be on the left of the white, does that necessarily mean right next to it?-Corn -

Well I played both and both have good and bad points however pes 08 is best play refferees are so real there rubbish just like in real life harder to understand set ups than fifa but probably worth the effort definitely better football experience, Now if they got together fifa pes we would probably see a game worth playing because for all the promises for 2008 there is not a football game worthy of the technology available today but don't worry about the fans its the sales that matter and we bag bill for ripping us of-mark
