  1. It all depends on what you want out of your site. If you simply want a blog and pretty much nothing else, I would recommend using Wordpress. However, if you want to build a website with a blog as its main features, you should use the CMS. I have heard different things about different CMS software, so I recommend that you decide what CMS is the best at http://www.opensourcecms.com/. I have heard good things about Joomla, but I would check out more than one CMS before you make a decision.
  2. I really don't like the idea of a phone crashing (it WILL crash because it came from Microsoft). I sure hope that they provide some sort of cables to hook it to the computer and an installation CD. Also, there would also be a new breed of phone viruses, which we have never seen before. It better have some sort of warrenty because I am sure the actual components of the phone are going to fry as well (remember the problems with the Xbox 360).
  3. Yeah, G-Mail scans your e-mails, etc. for keywords and you get offered spam that way. But not in the way of traditional spam. They use Google Ads on the side of the screen. It's kinda nice, not to mention that you can get more relevant ads that way. It works out well.
  4. I've seen a dog, and it was hilarious, who when you point your finger at him, make your hand look like a gun, and say "bang, bang!", he plays dead. It was hilarious the first time I saw him.
  5. I've seen cats who do the lick and chin thing all the time. My cat does. And my cat also sits on his butt and lays on his back all the time. He also has a habit of knocking over that water dish. And he also has an annoying habit of sitting in the litter box as a hideout. It's kinda gross, needless to say. But he's a good cat. He also, get this, likes water. If I leave my bathroom door open, he'll sit in the tub. And the one time, we gave him a bath, and he liked it. The only time he didn't like it was when we were taking him out actually. There I think he just liked the warmth. When I call his name, he comes, when I throw a ball, he fetchs, so sometimes I think he's more dog than cat. And the one time, he saw his reflection in the window, and he freaked out. He was just swerving his head around to see if the reflecion would follow. It was so adorable. I died laughing. My cat's a good cat, but more than a little weird. He also has a habit of sitting in the chair next to me when I'm on the computer. And he's fascinated by the printer. And, best of all, he likes to cuddle, curl up in a ball in your lap, and fall asleep, occasionally licking your wrist while he's laying there. Hence my official declaration: adorable, but weird. Any thoughts?
  6. Don't count google out just yet. They have a variety of business going for them. Their search engine is the most used search engine in the world, they have their a chat service, their own e-mail setup which filters spam by scanning for keywords, they own youtube, they have their own mapping system, they have their own satellite pictures of Earth (Google Earth), Google Apps, and more! So don't be so quick to knock google out of the competition with it's GPhone.
  7. I do not know if this is true, but I heard that the Xisto - Web Hosting staff will move your entire site for you if you decide to host there. I also believe that Xisto - Web Hosting funds Xisto, so thanks for supporting this site. Also, you click the Xisto link and then click Xisto - Web Hosting. The Xisto link just brings up a bunch of links.
  8. I am another one of those webmasters, who bought an IPB license. When I bought the license, I thought it was worth it because their was nothing else out there. However, a year later, I noticed that my support expired. It wasn't a big deal because the perpetual license I bought, which was available at the time, offered unlimited updates. I was not happy when I realized that I couldn't access their modification forum. I do not think that their modification forum should fall under support because most of the content is contributed by other people. I have never tried MyBB, but if it has the features of Vbulletin, I might have to do a test install for my friend's forum. I really recommend that everyone stay away from IPB no matter what. Matt lied to everyone, who used IPB back in the 1.x days. He said over and over again that the forum would be free. As soon as 2.x went out, it was an unlimited trial. They also charge $25 EVERY SIX MONTHS for updates. That equals $50 a year, which doesn't include updates to their other software, unless you buy their Community Suite, which does not include their download manager. Charging for updates every six months is wrong and far too expensive. Even Vbulletin has a better update system ($30 per year). In addition, they have a "business license" to trick people into paying them even more money. IPB doesn't really offer features above and beyond what some of its rivals offer, so it isn't a good deal. I just hope that Matt, who is the owner of Invision Power Services, ends up getting burned for lieing about the cost of their software. He probably originally made it free to get publicity and always intended to charge for it.
  9. My friend and I have not had any problems with his board being exploited. Besides, we tested phpBB, and we did not like it at all, although phpBB 3 looks like it has promise, so phpBB is going to be an option when it goes gold. I don't know much about MyBB because I have never used it.
  10. I love the "Age of Empires", especially playing death matchs, as I'm terrible at Campaigns, but I do agree that a lot of times the objective is more of a hassle than it's really worth. So instead, I usually just throw together a death match, and usually build up huge empires, until it gets to the point that my opponent(s) are huge enough to wipe the East Coast of the US, at which point I build up my army and attack. I also like to go into Death Matches and just use cheats to either finish them off before they even start, or let my opponent build up and then I use the cheat for a Cobra car, destroying my enemy within about ten minutes or so, depending on how many chats I decide to use. And for those of you who think cheats are lazy, it's not a constant thing, bnut it's just kind of relaxing, especially after a long day of dealing with annoying people. It's quite stress relieving to blow up a medieval town with a car. How odd. Any thoughts?
  11. The marvels of technology surprise me to this day. Like my new MP3 player for example. It's a 1 gig, and it's smaller than my index finger. Or my newest phone, is like half the size of my old one, with a camera, more features, and four times as much space for downloads. iPods are mildly annoying in their marvel. They're tiny, but hold so many songs. Like the iPod nano, which holds 1, 2, 4 or 8 gigs depending on the generation. The marvels of technology amaze me. It makes me feel old not just to remember cassette tapes, but to own a cassette player and cassettes. And I know someone who has a cassette tape from Christmas morning in 1976 back when she was a little kid and got a tape recorder for Christmas. How far we've come.... To go from bulky cassette players and VHS tapes to MP3 players that are so small you could swallow them. Odd. It almost makes me miss the good ol' days. Almost, but not quite.
  12. As far as the "Letters And Spellings Of Numbers" thing goes, "forty" is the only number spelt in alphabetical order.

  13. Take Gmail all the way. A friend of mine has had gmaikl for over two years now, and he said it's the best thing he ever got. Gmail has it's own chat system, unlimited inbox storage, and many many features, including starring important messages and archiving messages that you don't want to delete, but want out of the way at the same time, and.... It's just amazing. Truly amazing. Google made a great thing in Gmail, and I've heard nothing but good things about it, so.... :XD:
  14. Also, honey is the only food that naturally never spoils. How strange. And the home remedies are kinda cool. Thanks Archangel_Baw, for posting them, and thank you whoever wrote them for, obviously, writing them.
  15. There was a time when I tried, not to quit consuming caffeine, but cut down, and it worked out fairly well actually. I usually get my caffeine from soda, and for a week or so I tried something. For every can of soda I drank, I would ave to drink a bottle of water (two bottles for a bottle of pop). It actually worked out fairly well, cutting my intake in half. I felt better, and there was more soda left in the fridge The only problem was that soon we ran out of bottled water, so.... But while it lasted, it worked fairly well. I usually only went for the caffeine when I wanted caffeine, but when I was just thirsty I grabbed a bottle of water. Any thoughts? Do you think this would work for you?
