  1. Don't know if you guys were thinking like this, but it would be best imo if only the owner of the 'profile' of himself could approve changes to his page. But good idea I like that idea of making only certain parts viewable to public, and others to friends. Sounds like a great idea so far!I couldn't help much though lol, otherwise I would consider it. I'm only good with HTML and CSS...I can edit some PHP, but can't create it.
  2. Wow, this site is older than I though! It's a great site though, glad it's so successful. Hopefully it will stay that way :DI love this site though. A great idea! I love the features, and especially the price! And of course, it's followed up by a great admin and staff :lol:BTW, we should celebrate like this every month :PEDIT:Stupid Greenwich time! I thought I was getting those credits lol Oh well, I still get a few for posting!
  3. Alright, so if everyone's sources are right, then cracking your knuckles isn't too harmful. That's good, considering I do it a lot I can't crack my neck, so I could care less lol. I crack my feet and ankles all the time.....but it doesn't seem harmful. Who needs their feed to bend anyways? And can you get arthritis in your ankle? I also crack my elbows, knees, and back. Anyone have any news articles on these? I am assuming cracking my back can't be good....but after carrying around a 20lb backpack causing me to slouch over, it gets tense! Of course, I've been trying to work out my back at the gym, that would help heal it, right? Luckily school is out, and I've been doing it less (my back get less tense)...proving that backpacks are way too heavy. Well, either way, I will probably always continue to crack my back, elbows, fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, and feet....or toes to be more specific. Interesting topic though
  4. haha, I'm surprised they don't enforce the linkback rule. They could use some script to do all the work, but that would take a lot of time to make and manage :lol:I'm the complete opposite though. I watch TV and talk on IM and phone while I work. I'm lazy, but I eventually get it done
  5. Ya, flash headers are awesome, but if you have any flash, make sure to add a preloader so they know something does exist, in case they load REALLY slow. Flash buttons are cool too EDIT: Also, flash intros aren't too bad, as long as it's a small file. They can be cool But you should always have a 'skip intro' button if it's long, or a text link saying 'skip intro' if the flash is a large file.
  6. Do you have a GMail account? If so, were you logged in at that time? When logged into GMail, it stores your searches and tries to find the results that would most interest you based on past results.
  7. Look at one of their prices for advertisers "Special 5000 2c PTC ONLY $8.00" Wow, so....I can get $100 worth of advertising for $8? Or..did I do my math wrong? Of course, by setting unrealistic goals for payout, maybe they can do this, since I bet over 95% of the members give up before receiving payout. C'mon guys, use you heads, it doesn't match up. Sorry to sound rude and all, but I've gotten scammed too many times by these jerks, and now know how to determine whether a site is a scam or not. Like mentioned above, usually anything above a cent per email is a scam. But, there are like two or three out there that offer 2 cents per email. Anything above that is unheard of (that's legible). If you want to earn some real cash, go join a Paid To Complete Offers or Paid To Complete Surveys site. And Joefist, think..... Sorry to sound rude, but $2K per email? Ya, I wish. Why isn't it all over the news? Those are all scams. Why don't you look at how much the advertisers have to pay. It's like $5 for 100 $2K ads lol. And I have tried these before, those $1K+ per email ads. I was just verifying they were scams (tried about 20 or so). None paid out, but some redeemed for ads like they were suppose to. Since they are scams and get lots of interested users though, these sites that offer over a few thousand are perfect places to advertise.....depending on what you're advertising. EDIT: Thousands? Na, only 1,250! lol, it is a bit high.
  8. Moneymakingideas, you claim Agloco has finally released? Wow, and it only took over half a year lol. Or, since I joined. Anyways, is there site down for anyone else? Maybe I tried to login at a bad time, but the site isn't loading. I even checked Google to make sure I was spelling agloco correctly :/
  9. But doesn't the site that gives out .co.nr domains force you to give a link back? Two days though? You must have been bored, huh? lolAnd ya, anyone who uses dial-up..too bad for them. They don't deserve to see your site
  10. Obviously, like mentioned before, make sure you dust out your laptop to get that dust out of there. I hadn't for about a year or two, but after dusting it out, it ran around 5 times faster (at least) and was so much quieter. Also, look at some stores for a cooling system. Even go to a store and ask one of the employees for any recommendations, they (usually) know what's best.Good luck finding this!
  11. Wow!Who cares if it's not SEO friendly Load time is minimal (at least for me), and it looks great! I didn't care too much for the bear lol, but everything else looks...too good for words!Hopefully it doesn't load too slow in Dial-up lol.BTW, your other site looks awesome too, you are good at this :lol:Like I said before though, the bear is odd. But, you chose good colors, they all blend in together. Also, why not just dot com it? Was that name already taken?
  12. No reading or writing means less homework! Plus, I couldn't live without sound. Sound makes the world less boring. I'm really into music and all. Plus, the world would probably progress so much slower. It's easier to communicate via voice then writing everything down lol. I couldn't live without sound or talking....but I could deal without writing, even if it means no typing.
  13. Hey Karl, got enough names? lolBut ya, it definitely beats paying, and having annoying ads. Even if I had to though, a small text ad is nothing! Freeweb forces a whole toolbar, and bravenet forces huge ads at the top. I'm surprised how little this site makes it's users work, or how little ads it forces lol.
  14. Good thread here. I agree with most of that, but not everything, and am surprised some was not mentioned. As for CSS, yes, it is much cleaner and nicer, but can sometimes bug up on Windows 98 (assuming people still use it lol). I still recommend people use CSS though, I would assume that most, if not almost all internet users, use Windows XP or higher...right?As for autoplay music...please don't use it. It's annoying! And for flash, it's ok, but too much will lag. Same with all image types (glad someone mentioned that earlier, I was wondering as well why it wasn't mentioned lol). Not only GIF images lag! Maybe you meant BMP image files? lol, these lag the most. I advise you never use a BMP file unless you need to show a high quality image that gets destroyed in GIF or JPEG form (such as a high resolution site preview would). Also, I highly recommend that when creating a site, try testing it in the two major internet browsers Firefox and Internet Explorer. A majority of users use IE, and the second most used browser is FF (used by the smart people).Something else is, you should NEVER use any blinking text unless for a small promo or something, but don't overdo it. Blinking text can be VERY annoying. And unless you are out to attract only females, don't pick pink as your backgrounds :lol:That's all I can think of as of now :/EDIT:I forgot to say, that if possible, I advise using percent values so that you page looks good in all resolutions. If you prefer not to though, I would fit it to the previous default resolution of 1024x768. And as for the four second rule, I say eight to ten seconds makes more sense. If you can catch their attention, they will read on. But...it depends on your site type. For example, when looking for a traffic exchange site, I quickly scanned for the timer amount, and exchange ratio. If I couldn't find it in about five seconds, I just leave. But for forums and the such, if the design looks cool, I'll usually spend up to a min until I give up figuring out what it's about
  15. As many of you may have heard, caffeine can be considered a drug to some. What are your opinions on this subject? Obviously, like any drug, caffeine can affect some, while others can be unaffected. For example, I drink soda, usually two cans a day. Now, I have gone sometimes a week or two without soda though, clearly stating it has no control over me, but I have heard it can affect others in strange ways. For some caffeine consumers, if they go too long with it, they will get headaches, nausea, etc. But I rarely see this is people. This is most people's defense when it comes to saying caffeine is a drug, but I feel not enough people are actually affected this way for it to be considered a drug. On the other hand, what is a drug? I found this on Wikipedia.org: I also found this under caffeine: but you already knew that, right? For anyone who doesn't know what a stimulant is, it's a drug that temporarily increase alertness and wakefulness. So, caffeine is a drug, no matter how you see it, when you get down to the bare facts, right? Or did I read something wrong. Before I was bored enough to research and post about this, I thought it wasn't a drug Feel free to comment, but please, no flaming. 16. Ya, I've already been working on a few. The first scripts I will be making templates for are AV Arcade, Aardvark Topsites PHP, and Dew-NewPHPLinks. I'm almost done with my first two for AV Arcade They would be released right now if my old site wasn't hacked though....some random people hacked my site for no reason, and I couldn't test my work. But, oh well, at least my site wasn't released yet! And I have been trying to put lots of time into my sites. I mean, so far, I have made over 20 hosting credits (after this post) in less than 24 hours. That's pretty dedicated, no? But I have probably put in a few hours into just figuring out how the scripts work and then changing the template into something that works with the script. It's a pain, but it's fun I just hope when I get a job, it won't cut my progress down too much...I'm about three weeks into summer vacation Still applying to jobs lol, nobody has taken me yet! But, that means more time dedicated to my sites. If I didn't have to, I wouldn't get a job, but my parents want me to lol.
  17. I am a computer type of guy. If I could, I would love to make a living by just creating sites, but I doubt that'll ever happen lol. I think it would be cool to soon become a computer programmer, if not eventually a game programmer. It would be awesome creating my own games and seeing what I can create (why I like making sites, or anything on the computer in general). Plus, I'd be able to show off my work to millions
  18. Hey, my name is Chris. This site looks great, I love how you get free hosting just from posting, although I may just take the text ad and upgrade if I can get enough credits. You're allowed to do that, right? I'm just surprised they only require a bottom text ad! From what they offer, that's not much, this host looks great so far.I know HTML, CSS, XML, some Javascript, and little PHP. I also know how to use Dreamweaver, and CPanel. Don't know what else to say :/I'm currently creating a site where I create skins, or templates for different scripts that come from templates I download from other sites. So basically, I take templates from sites that allow me to redistribute modified versions of their script, and I integrate them into scripts, and then give them away for download free of charge.EDIT:It's so easy to get points! I'll just make some more quality posts....I love this place lol
  19. I was using 100mb, and was fed up with the CPanel, especially since all i was doing was testing my work since my old site was temporarily down. So, I went to Google and typed Free Host CPanel, and came here.
  20. First, I tried putting this in the Website Discussion boards, but it wouldn't let me, and so this seemed like the only other place Now, my website recently got hacked by some 'Turkish Hackers.' At that time, I was using a few scripts, but one of them was SMF v1.1.2, the latest version as of now. I was very curious how they got in, so I went to Google and typed in ' "SMF 1.1.2" Exploits ', just to see if it was the forum! Then, I found this page! http://cxsecurity.com/issue/WLB-2007050030 Now, this says something about some login exploit, right? Can somebody please tell me if that is how they may have got into my website, and help me understand how to avoid it in the future? Obviously, I don't want this to happen again. What they did was replace my forum's index.php, and also added a category that redirected to their site in my arcade script (was in a different folder using AV Arcade). In one of m scripts, I accidentally left the Install.php file in my account. Is this another possible way they got in? Thanks in advance to any help!
