Imageshack isn't always fast, but it makes registration optional and probably isn't going to shut down anytime soon, so it's my favorite.

I touch-type, though I've never tried to determine my WPM and I have no idea what it would be, certainly nowhere near what the OP said. Right now I'm thinking about making errors so I'm making lots of them, when I'm thinking just about what I'm typing I go faster.

Unless they come up with a way to prevent deafness, I agree there with ethergeek. They'd probably be better than the computers too (until the system got really advanced), and probably it would cost less to employ them than to develop a program that could do as good a job as they could.

"Hacking" the way most people think of it (with the common definition probably being something along the lines of "breaking into someone else's computer to take their data for the purpose of stealing their identity, selling private information to other people, stalking, committing a crime, or something similar") is bad, yes. Having hacking abilities isn't bad at all though, knowing how to hack (knowing anything about computers really) makes it easier to learn more about computers, and hacking, like others have said, is the only way to stop malicious hacking, otherwise it'd be like trying to design an alarm system for a house without thinking at all about how a burglar might try to get.

I like Yahoo, but the chat thing I don't really find useful since I use AIM.

I've been using Notepad++ for a few days now, I'd heard about it a while ago but didn't bother to download and install it until recently. Before I had just been using Notepad which came with the computer, so Notepad++ was obviously an improvement. I would check out Textpad too, but it says you have to pay.

World's Smallest Website the smallest in the word
Dalv87 replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It's completely pointless but kind of interesting. Kind of annoying how the instructions for pong take so long to scroll across the screen. -
Firefox, all three. Also:1. Microsoft made me download something to verify my copy of windows before I could download Internet Explorer, Firefox just lets you hit "Download" and you get it.2. Firefox is more customizable, since it has themes and addons and so on.3. Firefox is standards-compliant, IE is not and it's incredible annoying.4. There are a bunch of things I didn't think of or didn't say.

Preferred Forum System So many choices...its overwhelming
Dalv87 replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Software
I don't use forums a lot, but I see phpBB a lot so I'm a little biased since I'm more used to it I guess. If no one's said it yet and you don't need anything complex, maybe think about Automattic's BBPress ( https://bbpress.org/ ). I don't know much about it since I'm not a forum owner, but they use it at the wordpress support forums and it seems to be a good choice if you don't need anything beyond what it offers, since others might be kind of bloated. A lot of it would depend on what you need the forum for, what features you need, whether you want it integrated with the rest of your site in some way, if it your whole site, and so on. -
Eventually open-source might dominate a few areas, Dell gives the option to ship computers with Ubuntu now (which they started doing just a few months after I got my computer from them, why couldn't they have done it a little bit earlier :| ), Firefox might eventually become more popular than IE, and so on. The more people that use it, the fewer issues there will be (like the importing and exporting).

Hot Debate: Your Views On Gays & Homosexuality ...
Dalv87 replied to l337 Nurse Pedestrian's topic in General Discussion
I'm not gay, but I don't care if people are. It's not like there's a shortage of people in the world, people not reproducing isn't going to doom mankind, it's people reproducing too much that will probably lead us to extinction. Every study I've ever seen shows that gay couples are as good at parenting as straight couples, so I'm find with gay adoption, and since gays pay the same taxes as everyone else they should get the same benefits. I would say they should make gay marriage legal, except I don't think the government should be involved in marriage at all, they should just give everyone equal civil unions and leave marriage to the churches. -
I'm happy with XP, it does what I need it to and that's all I really care about. Given what other people have said about vista I have no plans to upgrade, especially with the security.

Powercursor.com :: Feel Your Cursor Around Tha Page!
Dalv87 replied to niran's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It's kind of interesting, but I don't really see the point. Maybe if they improved it a lot they could use it in games or something. -
It was Yuri Gagarin, unless there was some secret space launch that we're never told about, which is a possibility so unlikely that I'm going to completely disregard it and vote for Gagarin. I don't see why this is a poll, it's a fact not an opinion.

Very nice list, I'd seen a few of them before but not most, they're all useful, especially the colorblind filter.

I just got Opera last week, I'm not really sure which is better in my opinion. There are some times I feel like using Firefox, since it has more addons available, but Opera has its advantages too. I don't like Opera's wand thing though since I don't like to have my different passwords all together like that, I just remember them.

LOL. It's true it makes no sense to restrict the information, partially because you can't really stop the information from spreading, mostly because it would be practically impossible for random people to make a nuke. There are whole countries who know how to do it but still can't because they don't have the stuff, if a nation can't the people next door to me can't.

Same here, I don't use a lot of e-mail space, I've never paid attention to the limits. I guess some people might care though, it seems like they're just trying to compete with GMail's huge amount of storage.

It's kind of weird seeing userbars where the text isn't standard userbar size, so I agree you should make it smaller. Also a border (the Vista one at least, since the color fades, unless that was the effect you were going for) around the edge might improve them.

Searchmash - A New Search Engine Powered by Google
Dalv87 replied to pyost's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Usually I don't go through more than 50 results, I just use more keywords or quotes or something. I might use this more than the regular Google search now, it looks like it'll work better. Interesting how there's no Google branding on the front page, just the terms and privacy pages. -
Who Put A Hold On The "freedom Of Information Act" Bill
Dalv87 replied to mtnbluet's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I saw that post on reddit yesterday. It's a good idea, but the senator who did it won't answer, they probably don't even answer their own phones, the people who said they'd call will just get some person in the office who says "thanks for calling so-and-so's office, he's in a meeting right now, would you like me to call you back when I have information available for you?" and then never get a call back, or else they'll get some automated message. I don't even see how they know it was a Democrat, Leahy might have just been guessing (if it's secret how can they really know the party affiliation :? ).I agree the bill should be passed though, eventually it probably will. Does anyone know if the senator will have to reveal his identity if he lets it go? If he does, he/she might never do it, but it would kind of suck to never know who did it. -
No, I don't care what religion someone is so long as the person isn't hurting anyone because of their religion. If someone's religion, for instance, involved ritually killing a random person they see on the street every half hour, I probably wouldn't like them, but I don't think there's any religion anything like that.

It's not like they don't want you to bring a Bible to school and they'll search your bag to make sure you don't have one, and if you want you can go to a Christian school where they have religious classes, they just don't want required teaching of religion in publicly funded schools. A ) That statement is dependent on the idea that America is great.B ) So what if most of the founders were Christian? Every one of them was male too, should we require everyone to be a male? Christianity happened to be the dominant religion in Europe, where most of the immigrants were coming from, so of course the British settlers would be Christian. It doesn't mean that the US would be worse if Christianity didn't exist. C ) The First Amendment. The US is a promised land for Christians? That's an idea I've never heard before, what makes you think it? I'm a deist. I don't have any reason to believe in any organized religion, but something had to come before the Big Bang, so right now I do believe in some kind of higher power.

As a search engine a 9.5, it almost always gets better results than the other search engines out there like Yahoo.
