Place tea bags in a heatproof glass or ceramic container that holds more than 1 cup. Bring 1 cup of water to a not-quite boil and remove from heat immediately. (Water that has come to a boil should be cooled for about 1 minute before using.) Pour water over tea bags and allow the tea to steep for 3 to 5 minutes. 2. Remove tea bags, squeeze out liquid and discard. Allow tea to cool to room temperature. If not using immediately, refrigerate (covered) until ready to use. (Depending on the temperature of the room, tea left standing eventually will develop mold.) Allow refrigerated tea to come to room temperature before using. 3. Place cheese and minced herb in a blender and mix on medium-high speed to blend thoroughly. Continue blending until mixture is smooth. Gradually add small amounts of the tea concentrate until the mixture is spreadable, as desired. 4. Transfer the tea-cream cheese mixture to a covered container and refrigerate for at least an hour to allow flavors to meld. Bring mixture back to room temperature before using, either as a spread for toasted bagels or bread at breakfast; as a spread for crackers, sandwiches or wraps; or as a dip for vegetable crudites and toasted tortilla chips. 5. 3. The main part of the game will be adventuring and questing. The player starts by training/acquiring/hiring hero typesThen the player looks to rumors being heard, or information he hasThe player assigns whichever of his heros he thinks will suit the job Along with a number of brute soldiers to accompany, if desiredAnd sends them out to quest. At this point te game goes from city management to tactics.Monsters, traps and treasure will be found. The heroes can gain Experience and skills Acquire magic items/abilities Convince the minions to work for them--------A number of locations will be good for reusing. Laboratories designed to work with magic, Magic springs for collection, Mines for minerals, Bestiary for raising creatures, Reasearch laboratories Storage of unsafe/immoral items Special Training places Ritual sites Science laboratories Special material workshops Any number of ideas-----Locations so created / collected are still openAt random intervals rumors may pop up involving them Depending on how remote, how much care is taken to security etcStandards are set up, what happens if a passerby finds them. Do you attempt to kill? Do you ignore them?Do you ask questions and then kill/release?--------All options set will impact their reputation score if found out.A failed attempt to kill a passerby will not reflect well...-------Players will also have the ability to start rumors----Php table will hold various degrees of rumorsKingdom/Region/LocalRegion of the western inlandTown A of west plains Town D of Red forestTown B of west plains Town E of red forestTown C of west plains Town F of red forestRegion of the islandsTown G of the Coast Town I of the JungleTown H of the Coast Town J of the JungleA small rumor of Town C will be on west inland listA medium rumor of Town C will be on the west inland list and the red forest listA large rumor of Town C will be on all 4 listsSo each area has a rumor list. When a rumor is created its size its examined and it is added to each list appropriate.-------------Stat systems Strengh Dexterity Endurence Awareness Wits Charisma Physical Toughness Reflexes Willpower Negotiate LeadershipStrength = + to weapon damageDexterity = + to move speedAwareness = Trap/Surprise/SpotCharisma = Acts of Luck/ConfidenceWits = Manuevers/Special movesEndurence = Hit pointsPhysical = Combat/jumping/climbingReflexes = Defense/explosionsNegotiate = Lying/Sense Motive/ConvincingLeadership = Commanding troopsWillpower = Conquering Fear, def against mind abilitiesToughness = Surviving combat/poison
  4. Touche, i am forgetting some important details regarding storyline and such. This game will have a webgame feel. It will be two parted, one part city building, one part hero questing. Players are all leaders. They have standings and followings in cities. The more reknown and legendary their status the more options they have. Temples created in their honor forts in their name Faith devoted to them soldiers ready for the call-----------Or--------------They are the leaders of a small cityThey control their city and population as loosely or strongly as they likePopulation satisfaction will be one of the most important attributes-------------The higher the population happiness and support for their leader(the player)The more faith/energy they will contribute. This will be important as it will be the "energy source" of all magical items.Magical items will be energy or charge based. Easy to grant a small charge, difficult to charge higher. So if you have a number of items that can be useful with only a small ammount of energyPerhaps it works best to use them, recharge, use, recharge.Jewels will be the medium of energy. Items will be able to *socket* jewelsLike rechargeable batteriesThe size will be max storageThe quality will be ease of charging(may start to wear over time)The color will be what type of magical items use them---------------Include a possible king's favor part of the systemPeople can do tings and offer gifts in the name of the kingThen 'buy' things with their favorStandard buyable items, land.. etc, at a specific priceAlso rumors about good timing and such, deals bargains
  5. So here i am again, one failed game, another proposed. So its kind of table top style, although for computers practice i think i'll code it to the website.- Quasi Warhammer fantasy- Units of soldiers, medieval, in group-commander formations doing battle.- Include a town system- Include a reputation score for you as the leader, and each subhero- 5 or 6 stat system arranged in a circle- Each stat having an effect, plus each touching pairs have an effect- Non-linear dice rolling system- Combat manuevers to incorporate mental stats to physical combat- Morale/leadership an important factor- an attempt at including awareness, sneaking Str Dex or Str DexEnd Per End Int Cha Int ChaWhich is strength, dexterity, perception, intelligence, charisma, endurence.Strength - obvious, plus to damageDexterity - obvious, plus to movementPerception - awareness, noticing thingsIntelligence - number of battle manueversCharisma - luck, self confidence, the essence of what makes a hero heroic, acts of confidenceEndurence - physical toughness, Hit pointsStr + Dex = Physical = combat, jumping, climbingDex + Per/Int = Reflexes = combat defense, ref save vs explosions, siege weaps, etc. Int + Cha = Leadership = morale, standing firm as things charge, etcCha + End = Willpower = not running when your friend next to you gets smashed by a catapult bulletEnd + Str = toughness = toughing out weak blows so they don't effect youThis will obviously be multiple-parts
  6. Hi all, i'm having trouble finding my webpages, right now its just text and a login doodlie thing, but i access my files by visiting the page, so i can't see my changes as they happenHas this happen to anyone else, any thoughts, etc?
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAP 17!!!TRAP is the culmination of a great idea and a great implementation, thank you so much guys, i know how much work you must have put into it
  8. Ok thats all tentative, i created half that as i wrote it. So... the monsters are constantly attacking outposts and thingsCrystals power everything. There is a very small content of hard metals, so its difficult to use guns or anything, theres just no resources for itCrystals quickly become the currency for the system. Crystals are harvested in meteor showers on all of the planetoids. There is quick travel between the planetoidsThe crystals attract the creatures to the area, so often you will be challenged.. mision fights etcThe guild has been created, it is a code and mission list People are respected and honored through the guildPeople post requests and rewards for specific tasks, can pick up the missionsIt becomes like a honorable thieves guild type dealieThere is heavy contention for "owning" the various hunting grounds, asking for help with specific monsters that are plaqueing your area.Theres little direct fighting between players, more underhanding and backstabbing. I'm trying so hard to put in a huge political component, i want people to have guild rankings, and power approximationsTherefore challenges can be set and "the fairness" can be set off of the conditions of the challenges and the relative power between the two. For example if a more notable and powerful player challenges a lesser player it will be considered unfair, and will not be penalized heavily if you refute the challenge.Whereas if your a higher power and some bad deals go down, leaving you with few resources(tired hurt heroes, few crystals, or something) but its not public knowledge because its not honorable, and someone does find out. They can challenge you. Even though they are unfair conditions(you are in bad shape) because its not publicly known it will be a fair challenge and lose some major honor/respect if you decline or lose it badly. The challenges might be direct combat, or more likely missions, retrieve these crystals from overthere in this time period, or a race, etc. Ok, thoughts comments as usual, we are 2 and a few hopefuls working on this atm, if you have input, want to help, anything, post/pm me or signup on the websiteIf anyone knows how to get more political tell me, i'd love to know
  9. Ok, here's a tiny fractional update(i haven't posted since due to technical issues)I'm thinking of resetting the timeperiod as suggested. I kind of liked the roman era idea, but i've also been thinking of a quasi-cliche homegrown scenario. Opinions, thoughts, etc, for this. Sci-fi futuristic. There exists high speed interstellar travel, but its energy costly based on the mass. We've colonized a handful of systems, and they are now all called core worlds. Resources are always problematic and scans showed that there was an interesting star system a long distance away. Probes were sent, and there was found to be a unique energy source in the system, a kind of quasi-radioactive(not radioactive, just acts similiar with decay and such). So a fleet of generational ships was sent out and the system colonized. (the system is a whole slew of small planetoids, so space isn't an issue for the setting)3 problems. 1 - The planetoids are inhabited by monstrous creatures.2 - The Crystals once found decay into more stable forms, while in the system and can still be used for a power source. But the hitch is that once the crystals leave the system they have a very high likelihood of even the most stable forms losing stability. So much so that it takes more energy to transport them. So the colony is nearly considered to be a bust. 3 - The system starts to change people, they begin to be able to control their environment "like magic". Then some people start to change too much, and start to resemble the inhabitants. And the generational ships were one-way. So they're stuck there, are getting near to no support from the core worlds who regard them as a "failed venture", and now its a struggle to survive.. etc etc. So now the people are trying to find enough supplies to live, the crystals are found to nourish and create extreme growth in plants and animals, and it seems the most feasible way to support themselves with food is to gather the crystals to create sufficient harvests.
  10. moved to other main thread, this was an accidental post
  11. amit nigam adriantc Thanks the both of you for your posts. I like the ideas. (i'm still split on a specific historic event of the past or a low tech future)In either case, i think even if you guys don't want to code i have a million and a half ideas that i could use a great detail of help on. I keep wanting to figure out formulas for exactly how things work, and then make them simple enough to do them a few thousand times a day. Any and all input and ideas would be spectacular, sign into the forums if you would, or send me a message That goes for anyone else as well, we want as much help coding and non as possible
  12. Adding on May 23, 2007Further explanation:The game is going to be a application in medieval resource management, gathering, and capturing. The Resources:Gold($$)Imbued Magical coins: (usable to power magic, items.. etc)Technology: (magical and non-magical) Improved Overall Methods(learn how to gain more food out of the same land) Person Techs(help your craftsman to be better at their work.. or create a intelligence network among your people ITEMS: Everyone loves items, they will be ways for normal people to do extraordinary things, and your heros to do amazing thingsBuildings, Constructions: These will give you bonuses, help your people, train your people, produce resources, etcWorking Population: Self-ExplanatoryNext, one of the biggies... YOUR HEROES: Your heroes are the driving force of most organizations. Your heroes are your sword and shield, complete missions and gather resources To aid your heroes are henchmen, non-heroic people that can still stand out and take charge. Then there are the brute squads. These are the loyal followers that will protect their hero, overwhelm the enemy, keep watch, or anything else that any person can do. Alliances & Oathes: Oathes are the bonds and promises made in alliances and deals. These are binding contracts sealed with magic ensuring that both sides keep their side of the arrangement. These oathes can form the foundations for strong bonds, simply because the consequences of breaking the oathes can be so dire. Lastly, and probably one of the most powerful. INFORMATION: So you've been attacked by an anonymous source, sometime you've never had dealings with. You suspect foul play. By sending out your feelers and maybe a few minor fees, you can find out that another nations spy witnessed the exchange, and knows that actually it was one of your rivals who paid off your assailants. Information is powerful, knowing ones weaknesses, strengths, etc.--------------(This is just a random example)I want the source of most magic to be based on magictokensToo many games are based on whoring and stockpiling. Heroecommand will make it so that you create all of these magic tokens(or find them.. or some such, another thing to work out), and they go have colors. ROYGBIVThe common ones are Red -> Going to Violet(Purple)After a time period(probably 1 day real time, or less maybe), they shift one colordown. Each successive color is more stable and easier to use(they all work almost perfectly as it is)But as they shift they will have a chance to lose their magic. (Each shift is safer then the last)
  13. PRECURSOR: Bran muffins are my addiction, my town doesn't have ANY except dunkin donuts, and then i finally found them at the grocery store 4 for 1.75. I got 8 muffins and ate them in 3 days. My second addiction (yeah call me and odd bug, i'm not a choclateer or anything, i love vanilla, bran muffins, oatmeal raisin cookies, and sweetish fish) Notice from jlhaslip: Lists should be contained inside quote tags. It avoids earning an undue amount of credits. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Dinner food that are DIVINE American Chop Suey this stuff is soo good. It is filling, tomatoey, and delicious MMMM my dinner favorite, chicken parm, i found this recipe and it was GREAT Notice from jlhaslip: Same. http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1739,158184-226199,00.html My last addiction is not a recipe that i've found, its my magic bullet. I always laughed at the infomercials... with just 1, 2, 3 presses of the magic bul.... But anyways, i'm on this health... ish... kick where i am constantly making slushies out of frozen whole strawberries, a few cubes of ice, orange juice, and orange/pineapple/banana frozen drink mix(unmade). The strawberries are delishous when their blended, then some orange juice to lubricate and blend the ice, and then the frozen concentrate juice balances out against the ice, so it doesn't taste watered down. Its delicious, probably half decent for me(maybe a bit sugury), and it doesn't take more then like... 5 minutes including the getting up and sitting down... lol (not including washing up) Notice from jlhaslip: And please use the Edit feature instead of multiple consecutive posts. Merged. Future posts need to adhere to the guidelines for posting or this is going to cause this thread to be Spammed. Now there is a recipe for a quick meal...
  14. INTROSo yeah, i'm trying to think of a game idea to create. I'm a computer science student, 4th(out of 5) years. I'm looking for a summer project for myself and i thought i'd try and create something productive. So here we are. Before i go on,Thoughts, Impacts? Feedback???? Any of it I'd loveOnly second to the love i'd give for anyone that wanted to help out, whether conceptually or codingly. Please post:) I want this to be a huge developement(at least for me), anyone that wants in, can see the vision, just post it.Alright soIf anyone thinks they can help it, that'd be so sweet. If nothing else it will keep me on top of things and motivatedThe game idea -You are a something... a coordinator of some description. You have a series of heroes that you send out on missions.I'm not sure whether it should be medievalish... as in swords and spears, or futuristic with fleets and technology.. I'm leaning towards Swords and spears, because i love that stuff smile.gifI want to try to have a huge political component in it.Im thinking of a possible clan component, with clans having leaders who take all the missions available, gather intelligence on them, and post requirements and such.Possibly a clan wars component, clans taking land and resources from each other for supremecy.Thinking of a multi-level arrangement, someone can become a leader of a group(or clan), then a clan can dominate to the point where all the members become area supervisors, and so on. Continually able to advance yourself.I want a dynamic advancement system. If heroes on missions are faced with issues they can't solve, they can test against their intelligence or creativity aspect to come up with a possible solution. Then they can carry that solution with them to new missions.POLITICAL:So the political component, i want huge rivalries. I want it so that you are being compared to everyone else, and judged. If you want to make a hit on an opponent, and you send out heroes or troops to raid an opponenets "territory", then you'll get busted. So... what you do is you hire out some lowbody to make the hit for you. For the same money as hiring a quality merc, you can hire out a low person and they can make a profit on it. Everyone's happy, and it promotes the lowbodies.I want there to be a huge chain of command. People don't know where other nations are, so staying small and hidden will be adventagious except that it limits your growth.Knowing info about your opponents is valuable. Mutually assured vulnerability is a valuable tool, and it can be crazy interesting. You want alliances, enemies, resources... etc.So, clans and such.clans and a misleading term.So the mission list, i want it to break down like this. There is a list of missions, globally, constantly being repopulated.I'm not sure what the missions will be.Perhaps theirs a world condition where there are valuable resources constantly being spawnedPossibilities:There's monsters invading the world, match your heroes abilities against the monsters abilities, loot and such and suchThere is a meteor storm of magical infused material constantly falling. The material often attracts attention so their will often be opposition... etc..So theres a list of missions.Whoever is your commander, (there's always someone higher then you, even if its a computer commander), they will be giving out missions which are alterations on the other missions. The commander will have goals, and will set out rewards for specifics missions accomplished, or accomplished in a certain fashion.--Oh, a note on another section, I want there to be options for splitting up your team and running multiple missions at once.Heroes:I want you to be able to gain heroes by training them, finding them by chance, or buying themFor stats, i'm thinking something like..Strength DexterityEndurance AwarenessMind CharismaWhatever the rolling system is, it will probably be based on a combination of two skills for most things. For examples:Str - Dex Melee Attack, Physical ActionsDex - Awr Ranged Attack, PerceptionAwr - Cha Social PerceptionsCha - Mind Lying, Cheating, TrickinessMind - End WillpowerEnd - Str ToughnessBesides their stats, i want personality traitsTraits may be either advantageous and disadventageousOr they might be split into advantages and disadvantagesFor example, conviction. The hero runs with their emotions, if the hero sees acts against his beliefs, he will be inclined to resolve them, against better judgement, but he will be motivated to and act more effectively for it.I want heros to have alignment, personal beliefs, etc.Problems:Ok, i don't know how i'm going to put in a graphical component to my game.I know how to do the whole java thing with swing and stuff, but i don't know an EASY way to make it prominent.I think the idea was to integrate the mysql database to hold all of the variables and things for each individual person, then have the graphical interface reference the database to get information and such. That way it would be easy to have people interacting with each other, because there is one communal database where all the data is being stored. One major problem is trying to get a php script interacting with the mysql database to connect and reference the 2d graphical environment.. and vise versa

  16. I have grown up on Dungeons and Dragons penicl and paper version and played since I was about 13 years old and still play it to this day (current age) 28The creators have put alot of thought and time into creating this game and are active in the pencil and paper version of it as well so they are putting forth more of an effort to keep it close to what people are used to.The graphics and movies from the game look phenomenal which you can see here.I forwarn any old school mmorpg players that this one is geared towards grouping and not soloing as was meant for D&D so no soloing to get to the highest level it promotes teamwork and knowing your class to succeed and do well.If any of you are currently in the beta please drop a post here on your thoughts of the game and what server your on and your name maybe I will pop on and see what you are up to.Look forward to seeing you all in the fantasy worlds.I'm very similiar. I didn't start playing d&d until i came to college, but i love the game and all the other rpg's so very much. I was so excted to hear that d&d online was coming out, but i heard that it really didn't work out and that it kinda sucked gameplay wise.
  17. How big is your team running Ragnarok?? Is it a simple development or a company development??If you want a newbie programmer for a helper i'd enjoy the experience, if you guys are doing a kind of home development. I am java trained, c tolerant, and just bored atm i guess
  18. It sounds like dreamweaver is the stuff. People seem to love dreamweaver and always advertise it over other things. So my question is, can people tell me exactly why it is as great as it is, and more importantly, any reason why people are not inclined to use it.
  19. I'm seeing one big list of programs, can we organize making a compendium, just one big long list of programs, links if we have them, and possible uses?? I think that it would be so incredibly helpful and useful.
  20. I use notepad, Tidy (auto-cleans your html code so its w3c compliant), gimp (open-source version of photoshop) and 3 different browsers (IE, firefox and opera) to see if the website looks the same on all three. I really recommend Tidy to design ur website, it really speeds up my work. I got my site w3c compliant within 5 minutes with it. here's a link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This sounds awesome, i'm going to have to check out this link
  21. Do designers change languages when they need something else to design. or do they have a tendency to stick with one thing or another. Speaking of, what languages do people like to design in??
