  1. Wiinja Deluxe: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Notice from jlhaslip: - Notice - Please use bbcode quote tags for long lists. Editted this posting to add quote tags. I stumbled upon this while I was doing some homework on the Nintendo Wii recently. What do you guys think about all this?
  2. At the moment I currently have just a desktop but soon I should get a laptop. Which is better really depends on your needs. If you're a gamer the desktop is a more ideal choice, especially due to the ease of upgrading. Many laptops have a lot of issues with upgrading, heat up quickly and aren't always the best when it comes to performance. On the other hand, if you are on the move a lot, whether you are a businessman or even a student it can be very convenient to have a laptop, actually necessary for most cases. The pros very quickly outweigh the cons and if you are willing to shell out a considerable amount of cash you could get a laptop that might make you forget the pros of a desktop altogether. It can't be said enough that laptops are like a little revolution. Mobility and convenience in todays modern world is priceless. I can't say which is better outright though. Maybe like I said it just depends on the user.
  3. I totally agree with you. Just saying there could be a choice of the case the touch screen version of it with voice activation or just a simple button interface. I truly can appreciate the difference between a tape deck and an iPod. Besides, the fanciest version could be marketed towards the richer folks. If it does come down to not being all that expensive then the whole thing could just be standard. That would indeed be nice. Have you seen the smart toilets by any chance? In Japan they have these smart toilets that can heat up the seat for you, flush etc. and there's even a toilet specifically for women I believe to hide any unwanted sounds they may make, not quite sure on that one. I saw some of these. Some look like obviously advanced pieces of technology but there was one that looked just like an ordinary toilet. Maybe you can talk to those guys and strike a deal.
  4. My first system would have to be the SNES. I remember getting it and playing some really great games. Mario was the most difficult I had to play and the most fun had to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I still have it actually. From there I moved on to the N64 with Mario 64 I completed with just sheer determination. Zelda OOT was also a favorite of mine. Then I moved onto the PS2 and finally had a DS. Had good times with the old consoles, just one word for them...classics.
  5. It is a useful concept but it not only has been brought up before it's been used in a number of things before. The reason for that is it is one of the more basic conveniences that a person might want. It could very well be something taken for granted in the near future. It's a great idea man but I don't think it necessarily has to be a 'smart shower'. All that's really needed is a few buttons where you can set the temperature and save it so it can be even easier for you the next time. There isn't much need for any graphical interface per se unless you really are rich and you don't mind spending money unnecessarily. What might be best for now is to offer to install an average looking shower that includes the 'smart shower' system. It never hurts to think about these types of innovations. Sometimes you might stumble upon something new. Great idea.
  6. Interesting diet plan. Post it, maybe someone can take advantage of it. The info already posted here is a good source but I'll put in my two cents anyway.Diets should be considered a personal thing. The reason for that is that every persons body is unique, with the exception of twins, triplets etc in some cases. Many people have been fortunate in that the popular diets have worked for them. For the rest these diets may just seem like gimmicks and some of them are. So, as many experts and experienced people would tell you, you should try to develop your own diet that would suit your specific needs and palette, taking from various diet plans as you see fit. Seeing a dietitian might help but it's not necessary. Take into consideration what cravings you might have, your favorite foods/snacks and your daily routine. Figure out what's convenient for you and you might even stumble upon something that actually works for you.My opinion is that if you want to lose weight properly then you should avoid the use of pills altogether unless a doctor recommends it because it helps boost your metabolism or something like that. The most important thing is to ensure your health. It's easy to try drastic measures to lose your weight and you end up with serious side effects. Some people naturally put on weight faster than the average person and it should only be in these cases that a person should seek more advanced solutions.Carbohydrates is the main source of weight gain so if you're looking to start a diet a good place to start is to cut down on foods rich in carbohydrates such as rice, noodles etc. and focus more on healthy salads, protein rich foods etc. There are a number of weight loss snacks as well as cereal out there that can help. One thing about diets that a person needs to have taken care of. Motivation to stick to the diet is important. If you don't follow any diet consistently you won't lose weight as fast as you could or even at all. You may also need to keep up the diet in some form or risk falling back to your previous weight, this is especially true for those who gain weight faster than most.
  7. The EPL to many is the most popular league. The money the bottom club will get from next season is a testament to that. TV rights are big and they are still growing. Unfortunately the level of competition for the top spot is fairly limited. The top four clubs, in terms of fame, money and success, tend to be the top four clubs in the table at the end of the season. This season is certainly no exception. The fight for the top spot has come down to virtually a two horse race as some say. Then there's the fight for third place. Again only two clubs are truly involved. The rest of the top half of the table is involved in a rather intense fight for UEFA cup spots. Even the relegation battle is heating up. In other words, the only true competition in the EPL involves the fifth placed club down. So to many, who would enjoy a close battle for the top spot involving more than a couple of clubs over just a portion of the league providing mass uncertainty, the EPL isn't exactly their favorite. Right now the la liga (the Spanish premier league) is very close with the clubs at the top quarter of the table having opportunities to grab the top spot even if that might be momentarily. The Eredivisie (Dutch premier league)and the Bundesliga (the German premier league) are heating up as well. Although Ligue 1 (the French premier league) and Serie A (the Italian premier league) are very one sided right now.My favorite league is the English Premier League (EPL). My all time favorite club is there, many of my favorite players are there and the games are for the most part very enjoyable. Actually one recent game was very entertaining. A game that displayed a lot of talent and skill and which ended on a high. I enjoy watching the other leagues. Each has their own unique qualities that make for a very entertaining match.
  8. There is a lot that can be done, but as has been pointed out many times, the economy complicates things. In a perfect world we could just close the relevant companies, abandon harmful uses of oil and switch to cleaner forms of fuel but the world we live in is far from perfect. Because these companies are so big they have a lot of influence on the economy and hence politics. Therefore only small steps can be taken until a proper solution is put in place. Many people are employed by these companies and there's a good chance these people would be willing to sacrifice the world future generations would have to live in so that they could provide for their families now. It's anything but easy to just reallocate jobs to somewhere else and greed is not helping matters at all. The companies responsible for extracting and processing oil and manufacturing the traditional vehicle will fight with everything they have to keep their business flowing smoothly. It's interesting to point out that the cars that run on alternative fuels can actually match the performance of some traditional cars in terms of top speed, acceleration etc. so it's not the end of the road for people if they choose these cars. Even certain vehicles used for various types of racing use alternative fuel sources. Looking at the effects make this whole thing even grimmer. Imagining no polar ice caps, coral being a truly rare thing, hurricanes, typhoons etc. growing in intensity every year, soaring temperatures with records being broken just too often and many others is not easy and to some can be just too devastating. But it can't be ignored. Fortunately progress is being made and at a decent rate as well. It must be stepped up however if the planet is to be saved.
  9. This topic is quite interesting to me based mostly on the fact that it could be a serious question not to long from now. The main reason for robots and machines is to make life easier for us humans and to help humans in whatever way we can get them to. They're designed to do things better and more efficiently than humans. At the moment robots are limited to mostly pets in Japan, used as a substitute for a pet or as a way to help the elderly be more active. Unless a persons conscious can be uploaded to a robot, in which case the robot wouldn't really be a robot, robots would have to be considered as circuits and wiring. The only rights that seem to make sense for a robot is the rights that would lie in the hands of its owner. If major or complete emulation of a person is achieved, it can be easy to forget that you are talking to a robot and naturally feelings would develop that would encourage you to think of robots more as living things than something completely artificial. I am against the abuse of robots simply because abuse of anything is a bad thing for at least one reason or another. The point of robots is to help humans. But they are what they are, machines, and so their rights should not come before animals and certainly not humans. It is difficult even in this decade to accurately imagine just what it would be like to live with robots so at best most opinions and positions would be part speculation. We've all seen those sci-fi movies where robots become "smart" and turn on us, eg. The Matrix, iRobot and so on. Is that pure speculation? It is too serious to ignore. The "should robots have rights?" game should be played with utmost caution. We have to look at our safety and well being first. After all, the purpose of robots is to make these better.
  10. I live in Trinidad and secondary school is usually from 8am to 2:30pm. There is quite a bit of variance when it comes to time but schools follow a scheme of a short break in the morning and extended period for lunch. In terms of academics secondary school is split into 2 main stages. The first stage accounts for 5 of the 7 years (form 1-5). The first two years you are given compulsory subjects about 8-10 depending on which school you attend. The third year you are given a taste of basically two subject groupings, science and business. The next two years you focus on 8-10 subjects at Ordinary Level based on the group you chose before you begin your fourth year and at the end of the fifth year you write a major exam. At this point you have a choice to either continue your mainstream education for another 2 years or move on (to work or pursue a different type of education). If you do choose to continue you will study 4 subjects at Advanced Level of your choosing based on those you did before for 2 remaining years (form 6 - lower 6 for year 6 and then upper 6 for year 7). The system has been undergoing some major changes in the last few years so I doubt I would relate that much to students in 10 years. Generally secondary education here is of good quality with a number of schools here being the best in the Caribbean.
